KibaliGoldMine-Barrick.Enewspaper.Minenpium
Kibali, the Africa's largest gold mine, is located in the DRC's Watsa and Faradje territories of Haut-Uélé province, which was previously known as the Haut-Uele District of Orientale Province. Kibali Goldmines SA (Kibali) owns the mine, which is a joint venture firm with Barrick Gold and AngloGold Ashanti each owning 45% and SOKIMO owning 10%. Despite having an equal ownership share with AngloGold Ashanti, Barrick operates the mine, which is a typical modern massive mining operation in Africa that combines international mining experience with state participation. The mine is located in an area that was administratively restructured from the previous Orientale Province to Haut-Uele Province.
