e-PORTFOLIO DYNAMICS OF LEADERSHIP

First of all, I would like to express my gratitude towards the lecturer
of the subject, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yusof bin Boon for giving us the guidance
about Dynamics of Leadership throughout the semester. I would also like
to thank my classmates for supporting me in presentations and activities
held. This subject was very meaningful to adapt leadership skills for
myself.

To begin with, I must admit that I was a bit of an introvert person
during beginning of the semester. I was a timid person to get involved
with group activities and presentations at classes. But as the class goes
on and I was done with my presentation, it seems like I have stepped
out of my comfort zone and gathered much confidence than before. I
would say without a doubt that this subject is one of the major reasons
for me to boost my self-confidence.

In this whole course of Dynamics of Leadership, I had learned lots
of models and theories which could be followed by a leader depends
to his leadership style to enhance it more for the benefit of an
organization. Discussion made on each topic gave a clear explanation
on what type of leader I should be in order to lead my organization in a
better way. I learn that every single part starting from our
communication, behaviour, and relationship with followers play key role
in leadership.

Furthermore, the chapters in this subject was very helpful for a
person to build up leadership skills and also self-confidence such as
motivation, team leadership, networking and mentoring. Chapters like
these helped a lot in boosting the self confidence in myself. We found
that the best leadership style is when a person work for individual leader
in a specific time and in a specific environment.

Among all the leadership styles, I personally like the transformation
leadership. This style of leadership focuses on what the leader
accomplishes, and not their personal characteristics. The
transformational leaders are the person who creates and articulates
visions. They also set examples for their followers, consistent with leader
values and beliefs. Also, the key for this leadership style being my
favourite is the leaders’ characteristic of them empowering their
followers to think outside the box.

As a teacher, I believe that I should act as a transformational
leader and also as a mentor to my students. To be a transformational
leader, I should enhance myself as a visionary with high levels of trust,
articulate core values that guide my own behaviour. After all the weeks
of studying Dynamics of Leadership, I find that this subject made me a
better person in terms of being bolder and having a good leadership
skill in myself.
