KATA ALU-ALUAN TUAN PENGARAH

Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh dan Salam Sejahtera,

Terima kasih atas kesempatan dan ruang yang diberi kepada saya mencoretkan
sepatah dua kata dalam peneritan buku LANGUAGE CIRCLE kali ini.

Tahniah dan syabas diucapkan kepada Jabatan Bahasa dan semua pelajar atas
kejayaan menghasilkan penerbitan LANGUAGE CIRCLE pada kali ini. Penerbitan
sebegini adalah satu usaha yang membanggakan dan memerlukan komitmen padu
daripada semua pihak. Usaha ini juga mencerminkan bakat dan kebolehan pelajar
yang sememangnya mampu digilap dan diasah untuk mencapai kejayaan bagi
mengharumkan nama Institut Pendidikan Guru Kampus Sultan Abdul Halim ke
peringkat yang lebih tinggi.

Penghasilan LANGUAGE CIRCLE ini merupakan satu langkah yang bertepatan
dengan visi dan misi IPGM sebagai peneraju kecemerlangan pendidikan guru dalam
melahirkan guru yang kompeten dan bertaraf dunia. Penguasaan pelbagai bahasa

merupakan aset penting yang harus dimiliki oleh setiap guru bagi menyerlahkan imej
dan prestij profesion sebagai guru berkualiti yang kompeten dan bertaraf dunia.

Menjadi kewajipan setiap guru untuk sentiasa meningkatkan pengetahuan dan
kemahiran masing-masing bagi memastikan proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran
menjadi lebih bermakna. Dalam menghadapi cabaran abad ke 21, pengetahuan dan
kemahiran terkini hendaklah sentiasa diperkukuhkan dan penguasaan dalam pelbagai
bahasa merupakan satu langkah tepat yang akan dapat membantu guru-guru
mencapai hasrat tersebut. Dengan penguasaan pelbagai bahasa akan memberi
peluang yang lebih luas kepada para guru untuk memanfaatkan maklumat terbaru
yang dapat diteroka melalui pelbagai sumber.

Pada hemat saya, penglibatan pelajar dalam penghasilan LANGUAGE CIRCLE
ini dan pelaksanaannya nanti akan menampilkan kebolehan pelajar dalam aspek jati
diri dan kemahiran kepimpinan. Kedua-dua aspek ini merupakan aspek penting dalam
proses membentuk guru yang berkualiti bukan sahaja dalam aspek kemahiran dan
pengetahuan, malah melangkaui aspek spiritual, sosial dan kepimpinan.

Akhir kata saya menyeru semua warga IPGKSAH untuk sama-sama terlibat
secara aktif dalam aktiviti-aktiviti LANGUAGE CIRCLE yang dianjurkan demi
menjayakan agenda Pendidikan Negara dan merealisasikan visi dan misi IPG sebagai
Peneraju Kecemerlangan Pendidikan Guru.

KATA ALU-ALUAN TIMBALAN PENGARAH

Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh dan Salam Sejahtera

Alhamdulillah, setinggi-tinggi kesyukuran ke hadrat Allah SWT kerana dengan
limpah kurnia dan izinNya, Jabatan Bahasa Institut Pendidikan Guru Kampus Sultan
Abdul Halim telah berjaya menghasilkan Buku ‘Language Circle’ pada tahun ini yang
melibatkan sembilan jenis bahasa iaitu Perancis, Sepanyol, Arab, Korea, Jepun,
Mandarin, Tamil, Rusia dan juga Bahasa Isyarat (Sign language). Projek Buku
‘Language Circle’ yang telah dihasilkan ini adalah sejajar dengan era kemodenan
globalisasi yang mana kemampuan dan kemahiran bertutur dalam pelbagai bahasa
amat diperlukan agar persefahaman dapat dicapai apabila berkomunikasi dengan
individu yang berlainan bangsa. Kemahiran ini bukan sahaja penting pembangunan
individu tetapi juga memainkan peranan penting kepada bakal guru dan juga negara.

Pada kesempatan ini, saya merakamkan ucapan tahniah kepada semua pihak
khususnya Ketua Jabatan, Jabatan Bahasa, para pensyarah Jabatan Bahasa dan
siswa-siswi pendidik opsyen TESL yang telah menyumbang idea dan kepakaran bagi
menyempurnakan Buku ‘Language Circle’ ini. Saya amat berharap Buku ‘Language
Circle’ yang dihasilkan ini akan berupaya melonjakkan IPG KSAH ke satu tahap
pencapaian yang membanggakan kerana kemahiran menguasai pelbagai bahasa
asing ibarat sebuah jambatan yang akan memudahkan perhubungan dan komunikasi
serta untuk tujuan bertukar fikiran dan maklumat antara bakal guru dengan pelbagai
pihak rakan pembelajaran lain di seluruh dunia.

Bertepatan dengan misi IPGM iaitu melahirkan guru yang kompeten dan berjiwa
pendidik melalui program pembangunan guru yang dinamik ke arah pendidikan
sekolah bertaraf dunia, saya berpandangan Buku ‘Language Circle’ 2021 ini adalah
bertepatan dengan hasrat IPGM khususnya dalam melaksanakan Pendidikan
Sepanjang Hayat serta memberi nilai tambah kepada siswa-siswi pendidik, sekali gus
berdiri megah sama tinggi dengan masyarakat seantero dunia untuk bersaing dalam
segala aspek di peringkat global. Bakal guru bukan sahaja dapat merebut peluang
mendalami pelbagai bahasa, meningkatkan pengetahuan malah juga akan dapat
memperkembangkan kemahiran-kemahiran ini di sekolah kelak

INTRODUCTION
வணக்கம். (Vanakkam) Tamil is one of the oldest language in this world.
There are over 66 million Tamil speakers around the world from countries
such as India, Malaysia, Singapore and Sri Lanka. Tamil language is slightly
difficult to be learned, because it contains unique characteristics and
formations. However, this guide will be helpful for beginners to learn the
basics of Tamil language. This book contains interesting features as listed

2.1 VOWELS (உயிர் எழுத்துக்கள்)
Vowel letters in Tamil can be divided into two
sounds

1. குறில் (kuril) – Vowels that carry short sound.
2. நெடில் (nedil) – Vowels that carry long sound.

2. 2 CONSONANTS ( நைய் எழுத்துக்கள்)

There are 18 Consonants (Mei Yelutukkal) in Tamil. They
can be divided into three categories.

வல் லினம் (vallinam)
Letters that produce a hard sound.
❖ க, ச, ட, த, ப, ற

(ka, sa, da, tha, pa, ra)

மமல் லினம் (mellinam)
Letters that produce a soft sound.
❖ ங, ஞ, ண, ந, ம, ன

(nga, gna, na 1, na 2, ma, na 3)

இடடயினம் (idaiyinam)
Letters that produce a sound in
between hard and soft sounds.
❖ ய, ர, ல, வ, ழ, ள

(ya, ra, la 1, va, zha, la 2)

Tamil Ordinal numbers tell the order of things in a set: first, second,
third, etc. Ordinal numbers do not show quantity. They only show rank or
