Congratulations Progressive Women in Grocery

June 2018’s issue of Progressive Grocery featured numerous Wisconsin
women being recognized for their outstanding performances in the
grocery industry. The list provided multiple women from Hy-Vee Inc.
including Mary Beth Hart, Director, State Government Relations and
Jan Nichols, Store Director. Jan Nichols has continuously been able to
increase sales and profits despite the disruption to the entrance of the
store due to long time construction located on both sides of the road.
Mary Beth Hart was able to provide insight into how Hy-Vee’s
political action committee can function effectively while improving
communication. The list also included Lyndsey Lawrence and Karen
Porteous from Pick N’ Save as well as Tracey Cleaves and Melissa
Van Cheem from Festival Foods.

Convenience Store Decisions’ recently announced that
Kwik Trip is the 2018 Chain of the Year. In its
newsletter CSD said Kwik Trip exemplifies what it
means to be a “people company.” It is fully committed
to guests, co-workers and its vendor partners, not as a
strategy to grow the business, but because it’s the right
thing to do. When this is the core mission, greatness surely isn’t far
behind. The chain serves as a shining example of how to serve others
and for this reason Convenience Store Decisions is proud to honor
Kwik Trip as the 2018 Convenience Store Chain of the Year. “Our
business model is pretty simple and boils down to two things: For
Kwik Trip to be successful, we need to take care of our co-workers and
our co-workers need to take care of our guests,” said Don Zietlow,
Kwik Trip’s founder and CEO. Kwik Trip is the 29th Chain of the
Year and the second two-time winner. Kwik Trip currently employs
more than 21,000 and serves a massive seven million guests each week.
