January New Hires Sales Tax Reminders

Nathan Brown From time to time we all need reminders and it has been a
long time since we’ve had some reminders regarding order
Service Coordinator, PSBR entry and the effect that has on sales tax reporting. Please
keep these points in mind when entering an order:
Greg Ellis
• All orders need to have ‘Sold to’ and ‘Ship to’ information. If
Window Covering Sales, PSBR your customer is picking up the material, the ‘Ship to’ should
be the ‘store’ the customer is picking up from whether that is

or shipped direct to the customer, use the address the material

the appropriate city from the cities index. If your city/parish/
Eric Shirley state is not listed or there are several listings for the same city
(i.e. Denham Springs, LA) please contact me. We can then de-

any state other than Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama or Ten-

Marc Mitchell, 6 years sale in other states, we need to be in touch with the vendors
on these orders to see if we will be charged sales tax on the
PS Baton Rouge material. If so, we will have to pass that charge onto the cus-

PS Jackson • A customer claims to be sales tax exempt. We will need the
Damon Henry, 1 year customer to send copies of their State and parish (Louisiana
only) Resale or Sales Tax Exemption certificates. Once I have
PS Mandeville that information, I will update the customer account in RFMS
Darice Randazzo, 1 year to reflect the proper tax status. From that point forward, all
orders for that customer will automatically show the correct
PS Nashville tax status. The form that we need is not a ‘Sales Tax Registra-

Mississippi and Tennessee have a single certificate that covers

Menzie Stone • A job is being installed. (updated) In this case, the ‘ship to’

James “Rusty” Niethammer, 10 years to F8 on the city and choose the city that says ‘use tax’ behind
Van Washington, 12 years it. In Mississippi, installed jobs are treated the same as not in-
stalled jobs.

Owning the Sale

Renee Peters, Director of Training shared this about the ‘Owning the Sale’ ProSource National training
held in February. “I wanted to give a shout out to everyone who attended the PSN continuing educa-
tion series, “Owning the Sale.” The feedback we received was very positive, so I hope that everyone
felt that it was beneficial in their development along with their “commitment” in striving to be the Best
of the Best. If anyone has any comments or questions pertaining to any of the material relayed, please
do not hesitate to contact me.
Also, Darren wanted to extend his appreciation to all the veterans who attended. He felt that you
probably knew much of the information but was hoping that it was a good refresh for you and that you
were able to take away some nuggets and tips. Additionally, what the veteran may not realize is that
their contribution in attending, supporting and mentoring their teammates is truly invaluable to the
organization, therefore the benefit outweighs the cost in having to sacrifice a day away from their
member base, Thank You!”

HBA of Metro Mobile’s Chili Cook-off on Tuesday, February 4.

While he didn’t win, he did place 3rd and adds, “The judges idea of chili
must not have lined up with ours. However, we got in front of a lot of

people, so it was well worth it!”
