Letter from the President of FHPW
Welcome to the Annual FHPW Women of Excellence Awards Gala for
2018!
Since 1982, we have been honoring our Women of Excellence from our
member organizations. I believe in this event and I am honored to be
the President of the 2018 Board of the Federation of Houston
Professional Women that makes this event possible. This event, to provide recognition and to
honor women, is a highlight for me, and one of the reasons I agreed to be your president. I am
especially proud of our list of women of excellence this year and I am sure you will agree as you
read, hear and meet them. Our women honorees are caregivers, mentors, and resilient business
women, who are forging new successes and contributing to our families and communities. They
are making a difference for our next generation.
Our Gala event is not just a pretty face or party, we also provide much needed funding to support
women in their academic pursuits, as knowledge is power and everlasting. Congratulations to all
of this year's scholarship recipients and please introduce yourself, we are helping our next
generation. We support an Endowment at the University of Houston, Bauer College of Business,
our FHPW Education Foundation, and contributions to Houston Community College to fund an
endowment there. Our funds to support these organizations are helped by your contributions
tonight, so please bid and contribute generously.
Many thanks to the 2018 FHPW Executive Board, 2018 FHPW Educational Foundation,
sponsors, everyone here tonight, and most especially, all of our member organizations that make
the Recognition Event, Gala Rehearsal and Gala Awards evening a beautiful and memorable
event. There are so many thanks to everyone, and I want to mention our Gala Director, Debra
Dunn-Kurzadkowski who especially has worked through challenges and contributed over and
above to provide us this lovely evening to enjoy. This is your event, you are our past, present, and
future, and very much appreciated.

Letter from the President of
the FHPW Educational Foundation
September 15, 2018
Dear Educational Foundation Donors, WOE Honorees, FHPW
Members & Guests,
On behalf of the Board of Directors I would like to thank you for your
interest in and support of the Educational Foundation. Our mission is
to award scholarships and gifts to aid and advance the education and
knowledge of women in the community. Established in 1993, the
Educational Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) all volunteer
organization.
The Educational Foundation Board are all volunteers from varying backgrounds and
professions committed to supporting women in their educational goals. It is truly our honor to
learn about our scholarship applicants, to acknowledge their hard work and dedication to
further their education with financial support.
This year we were able to award scholarships to 12 women from Texas Woman's University,
University of Texas at Dallas and at Austin, University of Houston, Texas A&M, Rice
University, Prairie View A&M and Texas Tech University. We enjoy supporting women in all
levels of their education. Some of our awardees are just entering college while others are
completing their PhD. Many of them are in attendance tonight and I encourage you to meet
them and learn about their educational goals.
The Educational Foundation raises money through several events throughout the year, with
the majority of the funds raised at the annual FHPW Gala. Your support through the purchase
of auction items or purchase of wine from the FHPWEF Wine Pull this evening will have a
direct impact, both financially and emotionally, on our scholarship winners. We often hear
testimonials how our belief in them gives them further drive to complete and excel in their
studies.
Serving on the Educational Foundation has been one of the most rewarding endeavors I
have undertaken. I want to thank past and present board members, our guests this evening,
donors, member organizations and the Federation of Houston Professional Women. Without
their belief and financial support, we could not award these deserving women their
scholarships. To learn more, visit us at fhpw.org/ef.
Sincerely,
