Dear Customer...
As a Hedge Fund manager with GLG Partners for over a
decade it became clear to me how one should think about the
long term drivers when analysing the investment case for any
company. Comitti is no different in this regard and when I
purchased one of the unique Navigator timepieces in 2013 my
natural interest as an investor was stirred.
The company has been through a number of strategies in
recent years and after a few short meetings I offered to help
the Barker family to take forward this glorious 5th generation
business. Our new structure and strategy are to be clear and
focused with a new initiative around London. We are keen to
build on the foundations and heritage of the Comitti brand and
to think more about the broader category of Horology.
Looking forward I would like to thank everyone involved in
the story so far and all of our customers for their continued
support. As we grow the Comitti brand into two distinct
categories (Contemporary and Heritage) we are excited
about the opportunities that seem to arise daily as we link our
company and the rich heritage of clock making in London.
John White, Chairman

In 1845
Onorata Comitti, an Italian instrument maker, travelled to
England seeking a new future in the land that was enjoying
the unprecedented prosperity of the Industrial Revolution
and in 1850 he opened his workshops in Clerkenwell London.
1 Dedicated to innovation and the pursuit of perfection
he quickly achieved a reputation for making the finest
quality mercury and aneroid barometers. It was during
the late Victorian period that the company diversified into
making fine timepieces receiving a Diploma of Honour for
outstanding workmanship in 1888.
Many of the designs made in these early days continue to be
available today. They are recognised as English classics and
sought after as valuable antiques. Comitti remains a family
run business and today enjoys an international reputation
for outstanding workmanship and service.

NavTighaetor
The Navigator is a tribute to clockmaker John Harrison (1693
4 – 1776) who made the world’s first marine chronometer. His
unique timepieces made it possible for the first time for British
naval officers to accurately calculate their longitude position.
This technical breakthrough gave an extraordinary advantage
to the navies of Great Britain in their quest for global
exploration, trade and Empire. This unique story is revealed
by Dava Sobel’s best-selling book and the movie “Longitude”.
The rhythmic movement of the pendulum balances brings the
Navigator to life. This flagship product is handmade in our
workshops and available with a choice of gold, rhodium or
black chrome plated finishes. Bespoke finish combinations are
available on request.

The Mayfair is based on a timepiece originally made in France,
an elegant design popularly referred to as the ‘Great Wheel’.
The minimalist simplicity of the movement is achieved by
using fewer but higher tooth count wheels in the gear train.
During the Victorian period these skeleton clocks became very
fashionable, particularly due to their prominence at the Great
Exhibition in 1851.
The handmade movement is highly polished and available in
gold or rhodium plated finishes. Bespoke finish combinations

The Royal
Greenwich
Exquisite craftsmanship, precision engineering and the innovations of
some of the most famous English clockmakers are the inspiration for
21 The Royal Greenwich precision regulator.
The movement features a Vulliamy style deadbeat escapement. A
temperature compensated pendulum based on an elegant design by John
Ellicott in 1752 enhances the accuracy that can be adjusted in increments
of 20 seconds a week by adding small timekeeping weights. Maintaining
power, as devised by John Arnold (1736-1799), ensures precision is
retained when the movement is wound. An elegant design of epicyclic
gears allows the movement to run a month before needing to be wound.
A special limited edition version of The Royal Greenwich was made by
Comitti in 2012 to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee. The
original timepiece now resides in Buckingham Palace.
Available with a choice of gold or rhodium plated finishes. Bespoke finish
combinations are available on request.

The
Congreve
28 The Congreve, or Rolling Ball Clock, is named after its inventor
Sir William Congreve and is a favourite of clock collectors. The
original clock was presented to the Prince of Wales in 1808 and
is part of the Royal Collection at Buckingham Palace.
Congreve was a prolific inventor famous for making the first solid
fuel rockets subsequently used during the Napoleonic wars. It is
believed that his timepiece was created as a very robust timing
machine made for the military purpose measuring the flight of
artillery batteries.
The handmade fusee movement is available with a choice of gold
or rhodium plated finishes. Bespoke finish combinations are
available on request.

The Heritage
Collection
The introduction of the pendulum movement in England
in the 1650s heralded the great age of clock making in
London. It was to prove a technological lead that remained
33 virtually unchallenged throughout the 17th & 18th
centuries.
Comitti’s Heritage Longcase, Table and Wall Collections
combine the finest features of hand crafted period
cabinetwork with precision modern movements. Exotic
veneers, marquetry inlay and intricate Chinoiserie artwork
decorate and enhance the polished finishes. A choice of
hand painted dials can be fitted to the grandfather clocks
and bespoke polish finishes are available.

The Barometer
Collection
48 Comitti remains the oldest traditional barometer maker in
the world with a heritage that goes back to Evangelista
Torricelli who made the first mercury barometer in the
17th century.
The first instruments made were of the stick type but the
“banjo” shape became popular with the invention of the
wheel barometer by Robert Hooke in 1665.
Many of the instruments made in Comitti’s London
workshops have become established as English classics and
today are sought after as valuable antiques.
