General

All HFT Inflatable Stoppers are tested prior to despatch and should
reach you in a good condition.

The Inflatable Stoppers are constructed of a latex inner bladder covered
on the outside with a polyurethane impregnated nylon cover.

This cover helps the stopper to be pulled smoothly through a pipe or
duct and eliminates the risk of forming sparks due to static electricity.

All stoppers are supplied with a 1.3 m length of PVC inflation hose.
The hose is 10 mm ID and 15 mm OD reinforced with polyester fibre
and terminating in a shut off valve to isolate the stopper once it has
been inflated.

All stoppers are fitted with a Schrader inflation hose fixings are with
crimp rings and ferrules.

Receipt and Checking

In the event that these items are supplied to you through distributors
you should check that the stopper has not been taken from its package
and used previously or damaged.

If you feel that your stopper is not brand new and used, please return
this item immediately to the distributor from whom it was purchased.

Each Inflatable Stopper is stamped with its safe inflation pressure. This
pressure should not be exceeded.

These are low pressure stoppers and are intended for use as debris
stoppers, overnight stoppers, low pressure leak detection or weld
purging stoppers.

Any doubts about their suitability for your application should be referred
to HFT®. See rear of manual for contact details.

Do not exceed the inflation pressure otherwise the stopper may burst.

Do not exceed the operating pressure otherwise the stopper may move
in the pipe or may burst.

Do not use in a pipe with hydrocarbon fluids as they may damage the
latex bladder. PetroChem Stoppers are produced for these applications,
please contact HFT®.

The stopper should stay fully inflated for the duration of the work,
however in the event of a small leak through the hose connection, tap
or valve etc., reconnect the inflation device and re-inflate the stopper.

1. Prior to use, check that the size printed on the stopper corresponds
with the pipe diameter in which the stopper is to be used.

See following table for maximum and minimum inflation sizes

2. Ensure that the pipe area to contain the stopper is clean and free
from any scale or projections which might damage the stopper, or
prevent it from sealing properly.

3. Insert the stopper and using a pump, with a gauge, inflate the
stopper until it seals, with a maximum pressure as shown in the
folowing table.

Once the stopper is sealed or the final pressure has been reached,
close the valve/tap and remove the inflation device.

Alternatively, you can leave the pump and gauge attached in case of
leaks.

Our Inflatable Stoppers are designed to have a burst pressure greater
than 0.4 bar inside a clean dry pipe free of projections, scale, dirt etc.

Product Range

HFT Pipestoppers® Nylon Pipe Plugs
are suitable for a myriad of applications.
They are mostly used for weld testing,
leak testing of pipework fabrications, weld
purging or simply stopping to prevent the
ingress of dirt, rodents and other unwanted
material. These plugs will provide airtight
seals and in tests with plastic pipes they
are capable of sealing against pressures
from 60 Psi - 4 bar, to over 100 Psi - 7 bar.

HFT® manufactures a large range of
Aluminium Plugs, suitable plugs for
leak testing and isolation, to compliment
the range of small diameter Nylon Plugs.
All natural rubber rings can be replaced
with silicone, nitrile, neoprene or viton
for chemical and temperature resistance.

Steel Expanding Single & Double
Plugs for pressure testing and stopping all
pipework from 1.5 inch (38 mm) upwards.
The test pressure capability of the single
stoppers is limited and the double versions
increase that capability, while offering a
greater stability in the pipe.

Rim Fastening Steel Plugs, single and
double port, for pressure testing and
stopping all pipework from 17” (432 mm)
up to 95” (2400 mm). Rim Fastening Steel
Plugs, especially the large sizes, have
the advantage over centre locking plugs,
that the nuts enable plates to be closed
together evenly with ease and even seal
in pipes that have slight out of roundness.

HFT Pipestoppers® Inflatable Stoppers
and Test Plugs, an easy way to stop the
flow of gas or liquid along a pipe or duct,
for collection of debris and to prevent
ingress of unwanted material or animals.

All Inflatable Stoppers are manufactured
with a strong internal inflatable bag
made to the required shape and covered
in waterproof sewn polyurethane coated
nylon for low friction and to prevent
the production of static electricity or
accidental sparking.

The Inflatable Stoppers range includes;
Spherical, Cylindrical, Heat
Resistant and the Specials.

PetroChem Stoppers suitable for
arduous duties such as immersion in
chemicals and/or higher temperatures.

The Inflatable Rubber Stoppers
each have a wide diameter range and
are suitable for use in petrochemical
applications, as well as many others.

These low cost Pancake Stoppers are
manufactured for applications where
there is insufficient length of pipe for
the regular Cylindrical and Spherical
Stoppers.

prior to leaving our manufacturing facility. Should you encounter
a problem with your product, please notify us immediately upon
receipt.

Huntingdon Fusion Techniques HFT® warrants this product to be
free of defects in workmanship and material, with exceptions stated
below.

Warranty applies for normal and intended use of the product.

for any incorrect use of the product.
