When she was 8, Laura Deming realized that we were all going to die of
a disease called aging. Ever since, her driving passion has been to slow
down aging and eliminate age-related disease. She started working in a
biogerontology lab when she was 12, and enrolled at MIT when she was 14.
At 17, she was one of the youngest 20 under 20 fellows awarded $100,000 by
Peter Thiel to pursue her venture full time.

became an advocate for the creation of robust and durable analytical tools

Rohan Shirwaiker is an Associate Professor in the Edward P. Fitts Department
of Industrial and Systems Engineering and an Associate Faculty of the Joint
Department of Biomedical Engineering at North Carolina State University.
His team focuses on design and scalable manufacturing technologies for
engineered tissues. They study relationships between tissue manufacturing
processes and biomaterials and their effects on the quality of engineered

Under Dr. Green’s leadership, Forsyth Tech has be-

Prior to moving to North Carolina, Haack worked in the private sector
specializing in Industrial Safety. He also held administrative positions in
biomedical and life sciences at the University of Pittsburgh, where he
earned his Master of Business Administration. Haack served as Director
of Business Operations for a biomedical, environmental, and forensics
testing laboratory startup, among the first to occupy The Wake Forest
Innovation Quarter Wet Lab Launch Pad Incubator. Presently, he serves
as consulting advisor for a non-profit industry trade organization
devoted to educating governmental and municipal authorities and civil
engineers on design and maintenance of water infrastructures. A science

Biotechnology Center and Forsyth Tech Biotech Education Initiative
