The sub-regional offices of the Department of the
Interior and Local Government (DILG)-7 and local
government units have awarded Safety Seal
certifications to 1,309 private and public
establishments in Central Visayas as of
September 30.
The Province of Negros Oriental has the highest
total number of establishments issued with the
Safety Seal at 411. It was followed by Bohol
Province and Cebu Province with 386 and 376
total establishments, respectively.
Safety Seals were also given to 52 establishments
in Siquijor Province and 48 in Mandaue City.
Meanwhile, Cebu City has 31 establishments
getting Safety Seal while Lapu-Lapu City has five.
DILG-7 Director Leocadio Trovela said the
massive inspection and issuance of the Safety
Seal certifications will continue as the country
begins to slowly reopen the economy.
The Safety Seal Certification Program is an inter-
agency initiative by the DILG, Department of
Health, Department of Trade and Industry,
Department of Labor and Employment, and
Department of Tourism which affirms that an
establishment has been found compliant with the
minimum public health standards set by the
government, including the adoption or integration
with the StaySafe.ph in contact tracing
application.
DILG, with its counterparts from the Philippine
National Police and Bureau of Fire Protection, is
the issuing authority for public establishments
while LGUs are authorized to issue for private
establishments not covered by other issuing
authorities.
Pursuant to Joint Memorandum Circular No. 21-
01 series of 2021, there are three ways to acquire
the Safety Seal: through application, visitation, or
surprise inspection upon receipt of a complaint
from the public regarding possible violations of
the minimum public health standards.
