Mission statement
Caring for people in a time of need or crisis and helping to ease the discomfort or pain of these
difficult situations is truly a gift I love to give.
As an LPN I am dedicated to giving my time and energy to becoming a lifelong learner in order
to competently look after my patients in an evidence based and client focused way. In my work
I will be honest, kind and inclusive of people no matter their status or ethnicity. I will remember
that everyone is unique and will treat each patient as an individual. In my daily practice I will
help educate and encourage people to make healthy choices. I will use the best nursing care I
can to ease suffering and pain in those I care for and involve family and loved ones
appropriately.

Philosophy of Nursing
My personal nursing philosophy Believes that nursing has been one of the most trusted
professions for decades and I plan to continue this within my practice, to treat each patient as
an individual and allow them to act as the important members of their care team that they are,
to allow them to have autonomy over their own body and to always be informed and educated
on all medical interventions. To allow them to make choices that are informed with respect and
understanding. I am dedicated to consistently learning and growing so I can always perform
care that is up to date, and evidence based. To always remember that nursing isn’t only about
the body but also about a person’s mind and soul. It is important to remember that one of the
main parts of becoming and maintaining success within a nursing career is the ability to be
empathic and create meaningful relationships. Nursing is not only the treatment of illness but
also the treatment of a person as a whole.
Collaboration within nursing is essential to success I believe dedication to working hard
to maintain team dynamics and relationships within the interdisciplinary team is crucial to the
increase in positive outcomes for our patients. I feel when team members can comfortably
collaborate it creates a atmosphere of trust in which everyone works together in the patients
best interest. Being respectful and admitting when we need help within these teams is what
creates a trusting and educational workplace for everyone.

Lab Class Reflection
Lab classes started for me as a challenge I found them very intimidating. Understanding what
was expected of us and now having a few of them under my belt I feel much more confident
going in. I am trying to see them as a chance to improve and as a learning experience in
contrast to looking at them as an exam. The more situations we can make mistakes in and the
more chances we have to learn from them in the lab the less likely we are to make those
mistakes in the clinical setting. Using the lab experience as a safe place to learn and go is a way
more beneficial way to look at it. As looking at it as a pass or fail only makes the situation
stressful and when we are stressed, we do not learn from the situation. I look forward to all the
future learning we get to do and all the experience we will gain to make us amazing nurses.
