just what she wanted to do...

The Global Institute for Diversity and Change (GDIC) is committed
to keeping that dream alive. This organization founded by Yewande
has become an international resource for diversity and inclusion
programming, leadership training, integrated curriculum development,
youth empowerment and social consciousness building. Today’s global
leader must not only be effective, but socially and culturally competent.
The GDIC’s multi-disciplinary approach teaches participants to think
critically about how to foster creative solutions to real world problems
in collaborative environments.

When Yewande isn’t addressing lecture halls or rocking the stage,
this 2014/2013 CNN Hero nominee can be found fulfilling another
great passion - working with children. Since 2006, her humanitarian
organization (www.changerocksfoundation.com), has empowered
some of the world’s most vulnerable youth by using music to promote
education, leadership, health awareness and sustainable skills from
Africa to the Americas. It is this inspiring commitment to social change
that has ignited a movement heard around the world.

From M. T. V. and B. E. T. to the historic Rock and Roll Hall of Fame,
Yewande’s socially charged music has taken centre stage with the likes

humanity that has inspired a movement heard around the world.
Yewande recently visited Botswana in order to spread her message of
hope and tolerance. She spent NewYear in here in Botswana, which she
describes as,“the first day of 2017 was anything but boring! Watched a
group of tribal dancers in Molepolole; Climbed Livingstone’s Mountain
(tried at least) to the cave where locals once practiced “witchcraft” and
survived the personalities of 20 human beings below the age of 21 on
another continent. It’s official. I can do anything;)!”

Yewande brought a group of students from Virginia Commonwealth
University (VCU) with her in order to provide both students from VCU
and University of Botswana(UB) with a life changing experience and
an opportunity to share their experiences and cultures. As part of the
program she spent time teaching her social entrepreneurship class,
“The Art of Change” at the University of Botswana; Taking a safari
with students and @Class Volunteers Foundation founder Phetso K.
J. Kgosiemang; Packing up nearly 200 pounds of goods to distribute
to local youth; Introducing students to the inspiring work of social
entrepreneurs Jocasta Bobeng (LADY J Briquettes) and Naomi Mengi
Makgolo (Moshawa Estates Water Reticulation Project); Meeting with
the U. S. Deputy ...Ambassador and his prestigious team; Leading
students in teaching healthcare lessons to youth at Stepping Stones
International; Cooking a traditional Botswana meal with Jill Blondin’s
friend One Young Chef’s Academy in a rain storm; and taking a fusion
dance class with students at Andrew Letso Kola’s Mophato DANCE
Theatre. That was just the first week with many more activities
planned....

Yewande Ausin Climbs Livingston Mountain Week three in Botswana saw Yewande saying goodbye to her
VCU students with the hope that, as she puts it “In spite of all of the
challenges, I can confidently say that we created an experience that
changed a lot of lives.” Let’s hope all the students had a positive
experience from which each of them could take something meaningful
away with them.

During her fourth week in Botswana she spend most of her time in
meetings and teaching youth in Maun and Shakawe about behaviors
that often get in the way of their dreams. She points out, “its not
easy to discuss issues like alcoholism/drug abuse, HIV/AIDS, teenage
pregnancy or gender-based violence but we did...and had a little fun
in the process!

I was fortunate to meet this incredible woman at Stepping Stones

the same causes that as a criminologist impact on my daily life such
as Human Trafficking; Trauma Counseling; The plight of Vulnerable
Children; The re-education of Child Soldiers, made us sisters in arms
so to speak.

As she travels around the world making a real difference on the ground,
Yewande has agreed to write a column for Woman2Woman, keeping
us in the loop with references to the challenges she faces, how she
overcomes them, the success stories and the heartbreak she is sure
to encounter. We welcome her on board and are waiting with baited
breath for her first column.

Place the jars onto your covered surface upside down and

some extra time before you touch the jars.

How to make your painted Jars

I used some regular packaging string and some yard with

Step 1
Wrap the string around the jar tightly and tie a knot. Now wrap
the string around the rest of the jar tightly criss-crossing and
overlapping until you like what you see. Then just tie the end
to the leftover string where you started and cut off the ends.

Step 4
Now you can place a tea light inside and decorate away :)

relaxing, eating and entertaining more in outdoor spaces than ever
before. Gardening is no longer the top use of outdoor space. The This trend has seen an increase in outdoor
structures being added to the overall
design of new homes. Patio extensions,
and decks are now utilised to their full
potential. Outdoor areas can also include
living spaces, dining rooms and fully
equipped kitchens. Themed spaces such
as Yoga Gardens or bocce fields can also be
added to further customise your outdoor
retreat.

Architectural designs now include
pavilions, porches, pergola’s and gazebo’s.
In hotter climates – like ours – pool houses
or cabanas create extra space that can
be used for changing, lounging or even
storage. It gives an added advantage of
not having to deal with water or mud in
the house.

MAKE-UP COLOUR ME BEAUTIFUL

Eyebrow Shaping 101: Pluck the Perfect Eyebrows

Perfectly groomed eyebrows balance your features and frame your eyes. Here is how to get them.
BY Kitt Pieters

1. Locate your Starting Points

Want perfect eyebrows? Here’s where to start. Flip your tweezer
(try Tweezerman Slant tweezer,) upside down so the open end is
pointing downward, and place it vertically alongside the outer
edge of the bottom of your nose. The point where the vertex
lands marks the beginning of your brow (which should also be
about one inch above the inner corner of your eye). Using an
eye pencil, draw a vertical line to demarcate the start of each
brow, then check that the space above the bridge of your nose is
centered between them. Remove the strays that fall in between.

Grab strands right at the root and slowly pull them out.

2. Mark Your End Points

Lay the tweezer on an angle against your cheek so that the open
end is at the bottom of your nose and the other end reaches the
outer corner of your eye. The spot where the tweezer intersects
your brow is where the hairs should end. Mark it with the eye
pencil, then pluck the hairs beyond the line.

3.Determine Your Brow Thickness

How to do your eyebrows right: Starting just below the fullest
part of your brow, use an eye pencil to draw a line along the
bottom edge of your brow; it should be above any stray hairs
and it should follow the natural shape of your brow’s top line,
which may be angled, slightly curved, or even straight. Pluck the
strays below the line. Ultimately, your brows should be between
a quarter inch and a half inch at their thickest.

4. Shape Your Arch

Look straight into a mirror. The arch should peak above the outer
rim of your iris and lie right on your brow bone: “Imagine upside-
down check marks, but with soft angles,” says Vucetaj. Mark the
point with your eye pencil, then remove a row of hairs along the
bottom, from your inner brow point to the peak point. After the
peak, shape the tail.

“Make it a bit thinner than the main part of your brow, tapering at
the end,” she says.
Follow these easy steps and perfect eyebrows will be yours
