Inaugural Ceremony of GURU-DAKSHTA: 9th Faculty Induction Programme (FIP)

The course coordinator Prof. Panch. Ramalingam started the programme with the
participant's enrollment verification followed by University Anthem.

The session was started with the welcome address by Prof. Rajnesh Bhutani Director, UGC-
HRDC, Pondicherry University started welcoming Prof. Rajeev Jain, Director,
Directorate of Culture and Cultural Relations, Prof. R.Karpagakumaravel, Central
University of Tamil Nadu, Prof. Panch Ramalingam, the Course Coordinator UGC-HRDC,
Pondicherry University. Later, Prof. Rajnesh Bhutani Director & Prof. Panch Ramalingam,
UGC-HRDC, Pondicherry University also acknowledged the valuable guidance and patronage
of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Gurmeet Singh providing the strategic vision, optimum
infrastructure and resources for organizing such programs leading to faculty empowerment and
the last but not the least the course participants attending FIP from all over India, he also
mentioned the significance of FIP by UGC-HRDC, Pondicherry University. After the warm
welcome address, Prof, Rajeev Jain, Director, Directorate of Culture and Cultural Relations
delivered the Presidential address, he described the importance of Higher Education and the
role of teachers in society, he also encouraged the participants to adopt the technology-based
teaching learning process by giving the example of adoption of online mode of education
during pandemic. He motivated everyone and said, actively participate in the FIP to get
benefited.

In Inaugural address, our esteemed speaker Prof. R.Karpagakumaravel briefed us about the
importance of the Higher education system in India, also given the example of 10 Indian Nobel
prize winner out of which 6 were students of foreign university. He described the science of
teaching through web. He explained that the teaching is a skill which can be acquired using
proper communication, also said communication is an encoding and decoding a message. He
mentioned the importance of blended/hybrid mode of teaching learning process and he wished
the success of FIP programme and inspired the participants through his motivational speech.

At the end, Dr.K.Srujana, Assistant Professor, HRDC, Pondicherry University offered a
vote of thanks to all including Prof. Rajnesh Bhutani Director, UGC-HRDC, Prof.
Gurmeet Singh Vice Chancellor, Pondicherry University and Prof. Rajeev Jain, Director,
Directorate of Culture and Cultural Relations. She thanked all the dignitaries and
participants for gracing the occasion with their sincere presence. She also thanked UGC, HRDC
for providing all kinds of facilities to conduct “GURU-DAKSHTA” 9th FIP at the Pondicherry
University.

Introducing FIP Modules

Dr Panch Ramalingam, UGC-HRDC, Pondicherry University

The first session was initiated by Prof. Panch Ramalingam, UGC-HRDC, Pondicherry
University the course coordinator presentation on “The genesis of FIP Modules”

He briefed regulations and how well the FIP has been conducted in UGC-HRDC, Pondicherry
University. He explained the ten structured modules of 170 contact hours will be covered in
next 30 days.

Module 1: Higher Education and its Ecosystem (17 Hrs)
Module 2: Curriculum designing, Outcome based learning & Choice based credit system (20
Hrs)
Module 3: Teaching, Learning and Assessment (20 Hrs)
Module 4: Technology for Teaching and assessment of I-generation (20 Hrs)
Module 5: Personal-Emotional Development and Counselling (20 Hrs)
Module 6: Research, Professional Development and Academic Leadership (20 Hrs)
Module 7: Academic Integrity (10 Hrs)
Module 8: Constitutional Values, Human Rights & Fundamental Duties (13 Hrs)
Module 9: Environmental Consciousness and Sustainable Development Goals (10 Hrs)
Module 10: Strategic Planning and Management (15 Hrs)

He also pointed out the rigorous evaluation procedure and scores for the various components
like project work, seminar, micro teaching & participation, objective type test and overall
attendance for the final certificate grading. Those who will score 85 and above will be graded
as A+ and the rest will be categorized as A, B and so on. The entire FIP will be conducted
using Google Meet, joining time for forenoon session is 9:30am and Afternoon session is
1:45pm. All the Assignments need to be uploaded in Google Classroom for evaluation. Further,
follow the instructions and deadline mentioned time to time in the Google Classroom by FIP
Coordinator.
