Report from our President

April 2020

Sorry about cancelling the March club
meeting but with the coronavirus situation, we dare not do any-
thing that would put any members at risk. Guess I’m saying we’re
being ‘better safe than sorry’.

We’ve been notified Jimmy’s has cancelled our rooms for the
April Board and General meeting so the coronavirus saga contin-
ues.

I don’t know what’s going to happen this year with the Coronavi-
rus situation as it is. Whether it will become business as usual or
not, there’s no way to tell. About all I can say is we have to be as
flexible as possible as what was yesterday may not be applicable
tomorrow. Right now, pretty much everything is being controlled
by the CDC, Federal and State regulations regarding meeting and
occupancy situations. I don’t think anyone ever anticipated any-
thing like this ever happening so it’s all new ground for everyone.

Please be safe and follow all the guidelines regarding protecting
yourselves. Don’t do anything that would put yourself at risk,
it’s not worth it. Everything will work out eventually but, in the
meantime, life will go on.

A Note from the National Corvette Museum April 2020

The National Corvette Museum like everything else in our lives has
paused all their scheduled events like cruises, track days, and planned
special exhibits at the museum.

The Museum is optimistic that scheduled events will again start up in
June and they have a pretty full calendar for the remainder of the year.

They are still doing a limited number of Museum delivery of C8s, if you
have arranged that thru your dealer when you ordered your car.

Bowling Green has no plant tours for the foreseeable future but there is
a link on their website where you can document in photos your C8 being
built. They are offering this at a very modest price. If you are one of the
lucky ones to have your order in contact me if you cannot find the link.

The Museum is doing a number of virtual offerings thru their website.
Many online Corvette activities such as a virtual car show with dash
plaques and all starting April 20th. Event details were just published and
entries must be placed by early April. It should be fun to dial up and look
at members cars from across the country.

In addition there are a few raffles to win a C8 available thru the website.
Who knows you might be a lucky winner of a C8. The museum continu-
ally offers Corvette gear and clothing at a reasonable prices.

While you’re stuck at home jump online and browse their website (the
link is below) they have several interesting links about the Corvette
World.

In closing the Museum did recognize Suburban Corvettes of Minnesota
for our 50th Anniversary, a nice gesture for them to do

Board Meeting Minutes

March 25, 2020

A special virtual Board meeting was held for the purpose of deciding
whether to go forward with the 50th Anniversary Celebration or cancel
it due to concerns around the coronavirus. Paul Hauschildt called the
meeting to order at 7:05 pm.

Board Members Present: Paul Hauschildt, Roger Dahlquist, Gloria
Weeks, Barb Stattman, Jim Bodin, Dave Olson, Marie George, Ron
Weeks, Steve Heasley, Dave Benner, Sue Griffin, Sandi Scott, Marty
Buck, Dave Scherf, Steven Mael, Lynn Steenblock, Butch George.

Dave Benner presented a list of deposits paid in anticipation of holding
the SCM 50th Anniversary event. He noted that the planning committee
consensus is that they cancel the event due to concerns that they would
not be able to have enough participation to break even.

Dave Benner made a motion to cancel the SCM 50th Anniversary event
and defer the celebration to next year and make every effort to recoup
deposit money. A second to the motion was made by Lynn Steenblock.
A verbal vote was taken and the motion passed with one objection. Steve
Heasley will update the website to reflect the change.

The 50th Anniversary photo shoot for the fall Blue Bars cover is sched-
uled for May 16, 2020 at 9 am. The photo shoot will proceed as planned.
Jim will check with the Washington County Fairgrounds in Lake Elmo to
make sure we can still use the park. Jim will also check with Blue Bars
for the exact timing of providing the photo for the fall issue.

Dave Benner said that they would proceed with the sale of T-shirts for
SCM’s 50th anniversary.

Old Business:
● Discussion on deposit refunds associated with the cancelled 50th

Anniversary Celebration. The existing committee will handle re-
maining issues from the cancelled event this year. Dave Benner will
report on expenditures at the May board meeting. A new committee
chair will need to be appointed to replace Ron Reidell if this event is
to take place in 2021. They are looking for a volunteer.
● Dave Benner will still coordinate 50th anniversary tee shirts.
● The SCM board can utilize Sandi Scott’s ZOOM access for meet-
ings for now. It will have to be determined if the technology will be
used on an ongoing basis and look into club cost.

New Business:
● The Member Planet renewal payment is due April 28. Marie George

has negotiated an extension until the 22nd of May. This will hope-
fully give the board time to have the fee of $300 approved by the
club membership.
● The June Driver’s School was discussed. Dave Scherf reported that
Brained has 12 events scheduled prior to our June event. At this
time he is recommending that we wait to see what Brainerd does.
We have a contract in place and there is no need to cancel the event
now.
● Marie George brought up the process to be used to pay our mem-
bership dues in September. If the dues are going to be paid through
Member Planet she needs to set up the new dues structure in that
system. Barb Stattman suggested using Pay Pal to pay the dues
since that account is already set up. While not a formal vote a gen-
eral consensus of most board members was to use Member Planet.
Marie will proceed to set up Member Planet.

A motion to adjourn was made by Barb Stattman with a second by
Marty Buck. The meeting was adjourned at 8:14pm.

Respectfully submitted by
Gloria Weeks, Acting Secretary
