Report from our President
Hi Folks,
It looks like my Corvette out day of April 13th is in serious jeopardy. Although in Minnesota you just never know, I’m hoping for the best.
This month we started our relationship with our new sponsor Matt Saxe Chevrolet. Greg Simon our contact at Saxe will be at our March membership meeting to speak to the club. Last month I made a service appointment for the Tahoe at Saxe had some popcorn and a soda and was back on the road in about 30 minutes. The experience at the service department was very pleasant, nice folks and very efficient.
This month I’m heading to Pahrump, Nevada to collect on my 2-day Ron Fel- low’s Corvette Driving school offer that comes with a new corvette purchase. This will be my second trip to the school and I am looking forward to the expe- rience. As part of a new corvette purchase this is one benefit you don’t want to pass on; with the purchase you also get a one-year membership to the National Corvette Museum, another good deal.
The last club event that we have been working on has been settled. Plastic Fan- tastic, our all Corvette car show will be held at Lucky’s 13 in Bloomington on June 15th. I want to thank Greg Stattman and Ron Weeks for chairing this event for this year. With such short notice and lacking a venue for the event these guys jumped in and made it happen. Thanks guys.
All of our major events for this year are scheduled and we’re ready to gear up. All we need is the weather to cooperate.
I hope to see everyone at our March membership meeting to welcome our new sponsor.
Be safe out there.
Cheers, Dave Benner

Board Meeting Minutes
March 7, 2019
The March 7, 2019 SCM Board Meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by Pres- ident Dave Benner. Opening remarks: Dave stated that his earlier prediction of getting our corvettes out on April 13th may be wrong based on this year’s winter weather.
Board Members Present: Dave Benner, Barb Stattman, Gloria Weeks, Jim Bodin, Dave Olson, Sandi Scott, Ron Weeks, Tony Harris, Roger Dahlquist, Dan Collins, Marie George, Steven Mael, Roger Scott, Lynn Steenblock.
Board Members Not Present: Sue Griffin, Mark Orfield, Dave Juhl, Marty Buck
Guests Present: Greg Stattman, Butch George
Secretary’s Report: Gloria Weeks reported,
The January Board Meeting minutes were presented. A motion to approve the minutes as written was made by Steven Mael with a second by Marie George; motion passed.
Treasurer’s Report: Barb Stattman reported,
● Withdrawals were attributed to: Bucket Sheets newsletter expenses,
Chili Challenge, NCCC dues, MCSCC and MCCC (Met Council) dues.
● Deposits were attributed to Advertisers and Membership dues.
Treasurer’s reports are available for review.
Membership Report: Sandi Scott reported,
● SCM members = 222, Lifetime members = 97, and NCCC members =
192
Public Relations: Dave Olson reported,
● SCM is now our new sponsor. The Matt Saxe payment has been re-
ceived.
● Ron Marks’ Attorney at Law ad is now back in Bucket Sheets.
● Dave is still waiting on one advertiser’s renewal.
NOTE: Membership Meeting Minutes start on Page 22
Page 4

Editor’s Report: Ron Weeks reported,
● Deadline for next month is Friday, April 5.
● Ron has received the new Bucket Sheets covers which now carry the
Matt Saxe ad.
● Ron has approximately 20 leftover newsletters. He asked for approval
to send to former members rather than throwing them away. The Board
agreed.
● Discussion on selling a two month ad in Bucket Sheets to advertise a
garage sale by a former member. Board agreed with a premium for a limited run.
IT Report: Tony Harris Reported,
● The Website has been updated to reflect calendar updates, new sponsor
logo, additional advertiser’s updates, and picture update on Facebook.
● Discussion around Officer E-mail accounts. Tabled for a future Board
meeting.
● Discussion around size of ads on the Website. Half page ads and full
page ads qualify for an ad on the website. However, it was noted that the ads vary in size once loaded to the Website. The feeling was that a full page ad should have a larger ad on the website. Tony explained that he has little control over the size of the ads and that it varies by graphics and length of ad.
Governor’s Report: Jim Bodin reported,
● The certificates of Insurance for the Drivers Schools have been provid- ed.
● Jim has received a request to share an event flyer with our membership for a Mad City Vettes NCCC sanctioned auto cross. Ron Weeks will add the event to our Bucket Sheets event calendar as a non-club spon- sored event.
● Jim asked Lynn Steenblock to provide update on the rear license plate project. They are still working on verbiage and waiting for legislators to contact them. The goal would be to have a separate bill for this issue but not looking at this session. They are going for next session.
● Steven Mael brought up the article from the Director of Public Rela- tions that was in the Winter 2019 Blue Bars issue. The Director will have a power point loaded on a flash drive covering the benefits entitled to NCCC members which will be made available upon request by clubs this summer.
Vice President’s Report: Dave Benner reported for Sue Griffin,
Past Club Events: Mar 2 HFC Lakes Tavern and Grill in Woodbury – 35 Mem- bers attended.

Old Business:
● Sponsor Update – Bucket Sheets, Website, Logo on flyers - Included in Public Relations Report.
● Review of Events – Budget for Driver’s Schools was approved at Feb- ruary 19th General Membership Meeting.
● Printing/Copying Services – Dave Benner requested that when pur- chasing printing services we pay attention to price break quantities and utilize those to save money.
● Membership Dues Review - Dave Benner presented analysis which showed that existing membership dues and advertiser revenue covers the cost of membership. Consensus is that there is no need to raise dues.
● Event Distribution Lists – Tony will contact Judy Juhl to see if she is still working on these lists.
New Business:
● Bucket Sheet Covers – The budget for a one year supply of covers was approved at the February 19th General Membership Meeting. The cov- ers have been printed and will be used in the publication of the March Bucket Sheets.
● Advertisers – Ad Duplication. We need to be sensitive to advertisers and not sell duplicate ads to vendors doing the same type of work/prod- uct in close proximity in the Metro area.
● Plastic Fantastic – Event Chair Greg Stattman/Co-Chair Ron Weeks. Greg provided an overview of the Plastic Fantastic event which will be held at Lucky’s 13 in Bloomington on Saturday June 15. He talked about a DJ, trophies, raffle, $20 per car, walk-ins $3 and kids under
12 free. There will be no pre-registration due to the planning time constraints. Greg presented a budget of $2,000.00 to be taken to the membership at the April meeting. A motion to approve was made by Sandi Scott with a second by Marie George. Motion passed.
● SCM Trailer Insurance – Jim Bodin obtained a quote of $150.
● Dave Benner plans to review the condition of the SCM trailer sitting at Village Chevrolet on Friday March 9th. He requested a budget to
spend up to $249 to buy tires if needed. Ron Weeks made a motion to approve with a second by Lynn Steenblock. Motion passed.
Page 6

● Member Planet – Renewal, Membership cards, access for members. The budget for the annual renewal fee for Member Planet was approved at the February 19th General Membership Meeting. Sandi Scott is working on templates within Member Planet to print Membership cards. She is having some problems with it. Member Planet Tech Support is looking into it. It was noted that our NCCC cards may also work as an identifier for Matt Saxe. Sandi will invite board members
to Member Planet as a test to see if they can access their roster informa- tion prior to inviting all members.
● IT Director Alternate – Dave Benner is looking for backup if Tony is not available. Tony suggested an IT Team for better coverage. Dave Benner is aware of a couple of members that might be good candidates. He will talk to them. If anyone is interested let him know. Moved to old business for a future Board Meeting.
A motion was made to adjourn by Barb Stattman with a second by Ron Weeks. The meeting was adjourned at 8:52 PM.
Respectfully submitted by Gloria Weeks, Secretary

2019 Spring Cruise John Garley
Sunday, May 5, we are going to lake country. Not Crow Wing County (MN), nor Burnet County (WI). Rather two dozen named lakes between St Peter and Faribault. We depart at 10:00 from the Chaska Event Center/Chaska Curling Center on the northwest corner of MN 41 and County 61 (3210 Chaska Blvd). Best way to get there is; from I-494 & US 212 in Eden Prairie, drive west on US 212 for 9 1⁄2 miles. Exit MN 41, then turn left – south. If you need gas, Holiday is on the right at Engler, it’s about 80 miles to the next best refill location on the route. Two miles after the exit, turn right on Chaska Blvd/Co 61. Entrance to the Curling Center parking lot is one block later, on your right.
The Chaska/Curling Center opens at 10:00 am so there should be ample parking, but no shot for breakfast. For those who want to meet and eat prior to the ride, Cy’s Bar & Grill is a short block away.
At first the route will feel like déjà vu all over again for those who were on the 2017 Spring cruise, but not for long. We will drive through Carver, Belle Plaine, Blakely, Henderson, and Le Sueur to our first rest stop at a golf course overlooking Lake Emily. After that, it’s all lake views (no towns) until a brief (second) rest stop in Waterville. Lunch will be in Faribault.
Getting home is an hour-long drive on I-35 to I-494 in Bloomington. Looking forward to spring and getting back into our Corvettes.

DRIVER SCHOOL & LAPPING DAY
AT BRAINERD INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY JUNE 10, 2019
SEPTEMBER 16, 2019
Presented by
SUBURBAN CORVETTES OF MINNESOTA
Suburban Corvettes of Minnesota will have Two Driver School and Lapping Days at Brainerd International Raceway in 2019. These driver schools will provide you with the opportunity to develop your driving skills in the controlled environment of a closed circuit and then they can be used for normal street driving, autocrossing or racing. It’s also a chance for the experienced racer to get lots of track time.
Whether the sun shines or it rains, the Driver School and Lapping goes on. If the sun shines, it is a great time to practice the racing line, braking points or just different corner entry or exit points. If it rains, you will really learn handling techniques for adverse conditions.
There is classroom and braking exercises for the beginner, novice or semi-experienced driver. It is your chance to learn the basics and also how your car reacts to driver inputs. Ride with Driving Instructors and see how they handle their car. The Driving Instructors will ride with you and work with you to be more confident while you drive your car. You should take full advantage of the opportunity to use these Instructors and gain some of there knowledge.
Lunch is included with your registration. The Wheelie Bar will be open for lunch at 11:00 AM. We will not break for lunch, so you will need to eat when you can.
There will be a dinner on Sunday night at Arrowood Lodge at Brainerd Lakes for all drivers, instructors and other volunteers. The dinner starts at 6:30 PM. No reservations are required. We will be previewing the day at the track events. Great time to meet your instructor and other drivers/volunteers!
June 10, we will be running the 3 mile Donnybrook Track. Sept. 16, we will be running the 2.5 mile Competition Track. Come join the EXCITEMENT of the long, fast straight away.
Rooms are blocked for “Suburban Corvettes” ($79, 2 beds, 2people) at ARROWWOOD Lodge At Brainerd Lakes
6967 Lake Forest Road
Baxter, MN. 56401

THIS EVENT IS OPEN TO ALL CARS. EVERYONE WELCOME.
If you check on the cost of other driver schools or with other clubs, you will find that this is a very
inexpensive way to get up to 4 hours of track time per day. It is an exceptional value!
There is a limit of 60 drivers for each school. Be sure you sign up early so that you don’t miss the opportunity.
If you have any questions, call: Rick Ohland – (651) 206-8670, or E-mail: [email protected] Or: Jon Thompson – (763) 263-9587, or E-mail: [email protected]
