Report from our President
November 2021
Well with-it being November, this is the last
Presidents Page I’ll be doing. This is the end of
the 2d year of my term as President, I’ll be stepping
down as President from the SCM Board. Additionally, a number of the current
board members are also in that same position, either the end of their 2 years of
being on the board or not wanting to run again next year. I want to thank them
for volunteering their time and their participation on the SCM board, it’s much
appreciated. We’ve weathered a lot of issues and unorthodox problems these
last 2 years, and their work, creativity and dedication is appreciated.
We have some important things to be aware of regarding the November election
meeting:
First off, the November meeting will begin at 7:00 PM at Jimmy’s instead of
the normal 7:30 PM. We are planning on having cake and coffee at the meeting
so if food is an incentive for you to attend the meeting, there’s your reason.
Second is the most important item regarding club board elections. At the
October meeting we started the process for nominations for the 2022 board
members. Other than a couple of people that spoke up at the meeting plus some
afterwards, we still have a number of positions lacking a nominee. I’m going to
mention 3 positions in particular for you to think about. If we don’t have a Vice
President will you be willing to forget about having club activities among other
things as there will be no one to oversee them? With no editor will you forgo
Bucket Sheets? I suppose the club could hire an outside company to do it, is the
club willing to accept the cost involved in doing it that way? Another is Public
Relations, are you willing to forgo new and existing advertisers if there is no
way to deal with them or any way to publisher their ads? These are but 3,
I hope you get the point. I am not directing this to former officers, they’ve
already helped out the club without doing a “He’ll do it”, after all if everyone
thought that way then no one would do anything. Whether for an officer
position. event, an HFC or anything else, it takes volunteers to make things
happen. This is your call to action. Make your voice heard, help bring
new ideas and energy to the club.
We have some new board member nominees but we are still looking for people
to run/fill for the number of remaining board positions for 2022. We currently
have over 200 club members so we have more than enough people to fill these
open board positions, so where are you and why are you waiting?
Continued on page 3 →
Page 2
Continued from page 2...
Board members typically give up a couple of hours a month for the club, but the
rewards are so much greater than the cost. To be placed on the November ballot
ahead of time, contact any current Board member with your willingness to run,
or put your name in the running at the beginning of the November meeting.
Remember every current board member said they’d be willing to aid a new
person in learning the respective positions so you’d not doing it by yourself.
The club has a proud history, after all it’s been around for over 50 years. Let’s
not let Suburban Corvettes go down with a whimper, rather let’s roar into next
year and make it a better year and club unlike anything we’ve seen in a long
time. We need volunteers, that’s your call to do something.
I’ll get off my soap box now, it’s up to you to determine the future of Suburban
Corvettes of Minnesota.
Paul Hauschildt

FALL COLOR RUN - 2021
It was great to be able to
host the 40th annual Fall
Color Run this year, after
having to cancel the event
last year.
We had 51 cars leave from
the Bungalow after lunch on
Friday in beautiful weather.
Stopping again at the Pickel
Factory for a break.
Friday night 160 people enjoyed a taco and appetizer buffet and
closed the evening down dancing to the music from the Double Take
band, a favorite for many years now. Of course, we didn’t miss doing
the reindeer dance.
Saturday morning, we had 104 corvettes leave the park escorted by
Sgt. Tim Berg and the Onalaska Park reserves.
We drove thru some fog for a few miles, but the rest of the day was
“top down” weather!
170 people enjoyed lunch at the Phoenix Center in Richland Center,
Wisonsin. Plenty of good food and space to park.
Following a nice cruise back to the hotel, we had a delicious and
generously plated dinner for 126 people.
The Spina Bifida silent auction, raffle ticket sales, and Dave’s game
boards raised $2,936 for sending kids to camp.
Our DJ closed the evening down with more great music.
Brunch on Sunday at the Ceder Creek Country Club is always amazing.
The buffet included prime rib, ham, omelets, fruit, pastries, many
side dishes, Bloody Mary’s or Screwdriver’s and more desserts than
we could put a dent in.
Page 7
This will be our last year as co-chairs of the event. Steve & Mary
Jane Heasley have stepped up to be our new chairs for 2022.
We know Steve has the passion to do a great job with some new
ideas.
We want to thank all the people who helped the event be a success
year after year:
Mike & Evon Miller
Russ & Pat Mittelsteadt
Steve Redland & Susan Schultz
All run the routes the day before the group does, to ensure that
the roads are still in good shape. Parking at lunch and taking lunch
tickets. Mike & Evon for the trivia questions.
Ron Weeks has been essential with updating the mailing lists,
coordinating the mailing with the printer, financial recaps,
Car Trivia update, and printing the registration envelope labels.
Both Ron & Gloria have helped with assembling the registration
envelopes and information each year.
And a huge thank you to everyone who donated prizes for the
silent auction and raffle ticket drawings, helped with parking,
counting cars, taking tickets, paying the bills, handing out
instructions and signing waivers.
We couldn’t have done it without all your help and support!
Hope to see you all next year: October 7, 8 & 9, 2022.
