Inspirado por la estética de la naturaleza, el Modernismo y la cultura prehispánica, Francisco
Toledo estableció rápidamente una reputación internacional como uno de los artistas más
importantes de su generación. Además de ser considerado como el artista vivo más famoso de
México, Toledo es conocido por su activismo en favor de las comunidades rurales frágiles de
México y la ecología. En adición, Toledo es el fundador de importantes centros culturales de
su estado natal, Oaxaca.

Inspired by the aesthetics of nature, Modernism and Pre-Hispanic culture, Francisco Toledo
quickly established an international reputation as one of the most important artists of his
generation. In addition to being regarded as Mexico’s most famous living artist, Toledo is known
for his activism on behalf of Mexico’s fragile rural communities and endangered ecology. He is
also the founder of important cultural centers throughout his native Oaxaca.
