MOONCAKES REINVENTED BY THE MALAYSIAN FAVOURITE DESSERT The Mid Autumn festival brings families together for a fun and loving get-together to admire the moon whilst children chatter with their lanterns all bright and colourful. This year, Four Points by Sheraton Desaru is back presenting the 2023 Mesh Mooncakes collection that preserved within the specially crafted gift box with an array of both unique and traditional flavours baked mooncakes. Cendol is a popular Southeast Asian dessert particularly enjoyed by Malaysians for tea time or festive seasons, made with shaved ice, pandan-flavored jelly, and palm sugar syrup, red beans, and coconut milk. In this year’s collection, Four Points by Sheraton Desaru carefully reinvent the unique Cendol Custard with Black Sesame baked mooncake flavor imports that signature taste of cendol in a custard form and combined with Black Sesame, replacing the traditional egg yolk, making the perfect dessert that is light and refreshing to the palate, creating a flavorful treat or as a gift to your loved ones, perfect for the Mid-Autumn Festival. On the sweet side, Gui Hua Qi Zi (Osmanthus Goji Berry) & Longan Single Yolk and Jasmine Lychee showcase subtle fruity and citrusy floral notes while preserving the traditional original recipe with yolks embedded, giving the evergreen Oriental feel of Mid Autumn.
EVERGREEN TRADITIONAL BAKED MOONCAKES Traditional mooncakes hold significant cultural and symbolic value in various Asian cultures, with the most common filling, especially during the Mid-Autumn Festival. White Lotus Double Yolk and White Lotus Single Yolk are made from white lotus seed, locally sourced cane sugar, and infused with canola oil, bringing out a smooth texture and fragrant taste.The egg yolk in the middle symbolizes the full moon during the Mid-Autumn Festival which represent good luck and fortune. These brings a harmonious combination of sweet and savory flavors of the mooncake. Originated from Shanghainese culinary tradition, Shanghainese Yam Single Yolk feature a unique combination of Yam and lotus paste. Similar to other traditional mooncakes, the single yolk will complement the sweetness of the taro and lotus paste.
