Licensed product
marketing guidelines
The excitement and energy of Scentsy’s licensed partnerships can translate
to increased sales, brand awareness and new team members for your Scentsy
business. To maximize these relationships, we encourage you and your teams
to actively market licensed products. Follow the guidelines provided in this
document to help preserve the integrity and longevity of our unique licensed
relationships.
Getting started
There are a couple of things to become familiar with to fully understand how to
successfully promote Scentsy’s licensed collections. Take a look!
What are licensed products?
Licensed products are any items that contain a trademark or logo of a non-Scentsy
brand or corporation. Examples of licensed products include The Disney Collection,
Marvel, Star Wars™ and Warner Bros.

What is intellectual property (IP)?
IP refers to a licensed partner’s ownership of its brands, characters, titles, properties,
artwork, images, logos, music and more. All IP of Scentsy’s licensed partners is owned
by the licensed partner and may not be used without their explicit permission.
Scentsy’s relationships with its licensed partners provides Scentsy with limited access
to their IP, which gives you the opportunity to promote the collections in a compliant
way! To remain compliant, you must limit your IP use to what is provided to you in
your region-specific Marketing section of your Workstation.
Examples of IP you can’t use in your marketing:

Promotion overview
When promoting licensed product, there are guidelines to follow to make sure
your content remains compliant. The words, pictures and videos you use,
as well as where the content is released, are all factors that contribute to its
compliancy. Keep reading to become a guru at promoting licensed products in a
compliant way!
Promoting with images from your Workstation
To help advertise licensed products, Scentsy releases branded images for your
marketing use. If available in your region, you’ll find these images in the Marketing
section of your region-specific Workstation. Do not use or share Scentsy-created
images that are not available in your region-specific Workstation.

We go through a thorough approval process with our licensed partners to make sure
the marketing images we provide you are consistent with our licensing agreement,
which means they’re only approved by our partners to use as is, without any changes
or alterations.
We won’t publish any materials to your Workstation that you can’t use to market your
Scentsy business. Do not alter these images in any way (including cropping, adding
filters, altering colors, or adding words or stickers over an approved image).

Promoting with user-generated content (UGC)
Creating your own image and video content to promote Scentsy’s licensed collections
helps you stand out among the crowd! Whether you create a post, reel, story, YouTube
video or other form of content, UGC is an authentic and effective way to promote
products to your customers. You can create UGC with licensed collections by following
these guidelines:
Take pictures and video that represent the product well.
X Pictures and videos you create should show the product with good lighting and
clarity. Cropping the product, adding a filter, altering the color, adding text over
the image or video and/or any other alteration that compromises the integrity of
the product is not allowed.
Compliant Noncompliant
because of the
applied filter
X Licensed products can’t appear to be promoting Scentsy products. For instance,
you can’t post a picture of a licensed Buddy hugging a Scentsy warmer, because it
implies that the Buddy is endorsing a Scentsy product.
Compliant Noncompliant
because it implies
Disney is endorsing
Scentsy
X Don’t add any of our licensed partners’ logos to your user generated content —
ever! The unauthorized use of logos jeopardizes our relationship with our licensed
partners.
Compliant Noncompliant
because of the

Take lifestyle images and videos in the right context.
Lifestyle images and videos take into consideration the context of a licensed product
when licensed IP is involved. There are times when the image or video you use may
include licensed products, and that is OK as long as the IP appears to be naturally
occurring.
For example, an image of a Hogwarts – Scentsy Warmer in a bedroom in front of a
Harry Potter poster would be considered naturally occurring if the bedroom context is
included in the picture. A picture of a Hogwarts – Scentsy Warmer in front of a Harry
Potter poster that does not include the context of the bedroom would not be considered
naturally occurring. Take a look below to see the difference:

At a glance: Lifestyle pictures can be staged, but not in a way that takes the product
out of context, appears to put the product in the actual movie or IP land, or implies
endorsement by our licensed partners.

Create catchy captions above or below (not over) your images and videos.
Promoting content with text makes sense! It helps introduce your content and engage
your audience. When creating UGC, don’t be afraid to post your content with fun and
engaging captions. You can use character hashtags, link to your PWS for purchase
and give details about the licensed product. Make sure that your captions are in the
supporting post copy and not directly on the image you’re posting.
Don’t use any song lyrics, quotes, or any other licensed IP in the caption. Using licensed
music that is available in the application from which you are posting is OK; however,
remember you can’t post the lyrics in any way.
X Use app widgets around the outside of the picture. Remember: Don’t put
anything over the image, including text and stickers (even if they are available for
use within the app).
Compliant Noncompliant

X Don’t use any stickers on the picture or in the frame, even if they’re available for

X Use in-app music but don’t post song lyrics — ever! Also, don’t mix licensed
music with different licensed product. For instance, don’t use a Disney song with a
Marvel product.
Compliant Noncompliant

Do I have to use the full product name and the hyphen in my marketing?
Formal product names can get long! We understand this wording can be awkward in your
marketing efforts and is not required to stay in compliance. For example: You can simply
say “Scentsy has introduced a new Stitch Buddy” or “The Tigger Buddy has arrived” or
even “Scentsy now has Olaf!”
Can I wear licensed apparel when I go live to share Scentsy products?
Yes! For example, you can wear a Harry Potter shirt while going live to unbox your new
Hogwarts – Scentsy Warmer. Please remember that you can’t make your own shirts or
clothing using any licensed IP.
At a glance:
X Create posts, reels, stories, YouTube videos and other UGC with all text and
app-widgets outside of (not on) the image.
X Don’t use stickers (even if they are available in the app) when posting
licensed IP.
X It’s OK to use music in your posts, reels, stories, etc. if the music is available
within the app. Outside music is not allowed.
X Don’t add or use the logos of our licensed partners anywhere in your UGC —
ever!

Promoting licensed products online
Promoting Scentsy’s licensed relationships online allows you to reach current and
potential customers with a click of a button. You’re welcome to promote licensed
products on your social media pages and in digital advertising and emails to your
customers as long as you comply with the guidelines outlined in this document. If you
have an external website or blog where you promote your Scentsy business, please
review and adhere to our external website guidelines.
Remember:
X Don’t change Scentsy-provided marketing images.
X Don’t apply licensed product logos to your marketing content.
X Don’t use phrasing that includes licensed IP, such as quotes or song lyrics.
X Don’t promote Scentsy products or the Scentsy business opportunity on any of
our licensing partners’ fan pages, sponsored online forums, Facebook groups,
Facebook pages, or social media accounts. Consultants may post on fan pages
that are not owned or sponsored by licensing partners, provided they are an
administrator or moderator.

Promoting licensed products with hashtags
Hashtags are a great way to market Scentsy licensed products. In fact, we encourage
you to include fun hashtags on all your social media marketing!
To help fans see the products, you can use character hashtags such as #MickeyMouse
or #HarryPotter (especially around new movie launches). You can also use a Scentsy
hashtag such as #ScentsySnapshot in conjunction with other approved hashtags
The only hashtags you can’t use would be any that suggest our licensed partners are
endorsing or promoting Scentsy, such as #MarvelLovesScentsy.
Compliant hashtag: #LiloAndStitch
Noncompliant hashtag: #MarvelLovesScentsy
At a glance: Use hashtags to promote licensed
content, but don’t use hashtags that suggest
our licensed partners are endorsing Scentsy.
