Rosey’s Romper Room

Young 5 / Pre-Kindergarten Class

This class is especially designed for children who turn 5 years old
before January 1st and either just miss the cut off for entering
kindergarten or children whose parents’ have decided that it
would be better if their child had another year to mature before
going to kindergarten. While the curriculum for this class is
similar to the Plymouth Canton kindergarten, due to their ages,
the students will have more time to master the areas of study.
While exceptions to the eligibly requirements are considered all
children in the class should have excellent fine motor skills able
to cut with scissors and write upper and lower case letters with a
pencil.

Young 5 / Pre- Kindergarten Curriculum

The Reading and Language Curriculum for the pre-k classes is a
vocabulary-enriched program with includes but is not limited to:

Weekly sight words
Letter of the week – Upper and lower case
Reading and listening centers
Daily story time
Weather, Number and Color works
Sequencing 3 and 4 step
Matching for visual discrimination
Left to right progression
Opposites
Positional Prepositions
Vowels-Consonants-Blends
Beginning Sounds
Word Families
Rhymes

The Math Curriculum includes but is not limited to:
Counting to 100
Skip counting by 2’s, 5’s and 10’s
Simple addition
Patterning and Sequencing
Sorting and Stacking
Number recognition
Ordinal numbers
Shapes – 10 weeks
Graphing
Simple measurement
Coin and money recognition
Sizes
Telling Time
