Cool Math Games

It is well known that what is interesting is best studied, and what is fascinating is that which is not
boring. In order for the lessons to cease to be boring and tedious, it is necessary to make them
fascinating, so that students want to do the tasks more and more, regardless of the time. This is
achieved by tasks built in a playful way. The game is a huge incentive to succeed where, at times,
numerous exercises do not help.

A lesson can and should be a fascinating journey into the world of mathematics, it should give an
opportunity even to the weakest student to show their potential and creativity, to feel successful.

Entertaining exercises and tasks make it possible to achieve a small victory. The spirit of
competition stimulates attention to new material. The game turns the hard work of memorization
into an exciting lesson. It conceals the richest educational opportunities. The game helps to remove
stiffness, increases attention, revitalizes, improves perception.

It’s probably impossible to play every lesson, so as not to turn the study of mathematics into a
frivolous lesson. But creating game moments is worth it, as the game is an integral part of the life of
any child. He understands the game better, accepts the rules more easily, is not afraid of difficulties
and failures.

Games are different: individual, team. They can be devoted to consolidating the material covered,
testing mathematical knowledge, developing skills and developing skills for quick and rational
calculation. Some games last 5-7 minutes, while others require a whole lesson.

I would like to share with you the games that I successfully use in math classes.

I found the ideas for these games in various methodological books. Some games are held in full
accordance with the original, some games have been slightly adjusted according to the class in
which they were played (complicated or simplified, some elements added).

1. The game "Punch" (individual game)

Goal: ability to quickly and rationally count (oral count)

Material: cards with numbered cells from 1 to 25.

Game progress: examples are dictated (verbal account). The student must cross out the number - the
answer.
