TOMMY SMITHERMAN, PRINCIPAL

If you are reading this and sitting in the stands of Locust Fork Stadium...we made it!!! Maybe we
made it to our first game of the 2020-2021 football season and you are watching our football team, our
cheerleaders, our students in the student section, and band members warming up before the big game.
If you are like me, you are probably so excited to see something normal in our lives..even if it looks a
little different..people with masks...sidelines spread a little farther apart.. more time outs to clean and
wipe down equipment...who knows what all we are seeing that isn’t normal. However, football is a huge
part of our community in so many ways. I encourage you to take a moment to take it all in and never
take the simplest of things in our lives for granted!!

I want to wish our cross country, cheerleaders, football, volleyball, basketball, softball, baseball, golf,
and tracks teams good luck this school year. I hope you have all the success and joy in the world!

I also want to thank our community, coaches, parents, and our student body for all their support
throughout the summer and into the 2020-2021 school year. Your support means more than you know
and words cannot begin to tell you how grateful I am to be a part of Locust Fork High School and this
community!

The Athletic Booster Club and Emerald Night Band Boosters continue to play a pivotal role in
providing support, energy, and enthusiasm for our athletes, band members, cheerleaders, and coaches.
We thank them, along with the many families and alumni for all they do in our program...we would not
make it without you!

God Bless & Go Hornets!
Tommy Smitherman
Principal/Athletic Director

Dear Locust Fork Hornet Fans,
Welcome to tonight’s game! We are all excited to have football this season and to be
able to come out and support our football team, cheerleaders, and band! Let’s all get
behind them and show our Hornet Pride!
I especially want to thank the administration, coaches, faculty, staff, and booster clubs
for all they do to support our young people and maintain our facilities!
We are so proud of our newly renovated stadium. This is an example of teamwork
between the Board of Education, the
school, the booster clubs, and the
community! It’s amazing what we
can do when we work together and
no one cares who gets the credit!
This year, more than ever, let’s enjoy
the game and enjoy being together
as a community! We are so blessed
to live in Blount County and to have
quality schools like Locust Fork
Elementary and High School! We
have great teachers, coaches, and
support staff that care about our
students! Thank you for your support
of the Locust Fork Schools and the
Blount County School
System! Go Hornets!

Rodney Green
Superintendent of Blount
County Schools

The Locust Fork
Athletic Booster Club

wishes the Hornets good
luck this season!

The Locust Fork Athletic Booster Club would like to thank the members of the community
who support our Athletic Program. We would like to invite all parents and Locust Fork
supporters to join us in making a difference. The Athletic Booster Club meets every Sunday
before our home football games at 2:30 p.m. in the school library. Come be a part of the
good things happening!

Eric Weems 2020 OFFICERS: Crystal Payne
President Joey White Hillery Glover Treasurer
Vice President Secretary

Dear Parents and Supporters,
Let me begin by introducing myself. My name is Eric Weems and I have been a part of the Locust Fork

community since marrying my wife Bridget Weems, who is a graduate of Locust Fork. Our son Jackson is currently
a Junior at Locust Fork High School and is on the football team. Our daughter, Shiloh is in the 4th grade at Locust
Fork Elementary School. My wife and I have coached in the park leagues for the past 14 years and have seen first
hand how beneficial organized sports are for a child. Being an athlete teaches young children what it means to be
part of a team, which helps them to learn life lessons they will take with them as they graduate and take their turn
in the community.

As the 2019 football season gets underway, I am proud to be part of the Locust Fork High School Athletic
Booster Club. I would like to wish our new head coach, Matt Plunkett and our football team, much success this year.
I would also like to wish all our student athletes a successful season. To our 2020 Senior Class: I would encourage
you to make the most of this time as an athlete and to enjoy each moment, they will be memories you will cherish
for a lifetime.

I would like to invite each parent or guardian of our athletes and future athletes to come join the Locust Fork
High School Athletic Booster Club. We currently meet on Sundays at 2:30 prior to our home football games at the
high school. The Booster Club was created to aid our school, along with our coaching staff, in providing our athletes
with an opportunity to reach their full potential. We have a great group of athletes at our school that deserve the
best from us all. To help them they need your involvement, your time, and most importantly, your support. They
need a community that comes together to do whatever is necessary to help them succeed, and we as a Booster
Club could use your help to ensure we help each athlete and coaching staff with those needs.

It is an honor to serve these student athletes and I would like to thank those who have entrusted me with this
role. GO HORNETS! And in the words of Coach Plunket “LET’S ROCK AND ROLL!”

Going into my 3rd year as Band Director of the Emerald Night Drum Major LeAnn Brown
Marching Band Program, I have obviously been faced with Joy Horn
a huge challenge. Everything changed back in March when
schools were moved to remote learning for the remainder of Emileigh Crouch Noah Graves Chelsea Page
the year. Despite not being able to compete in competitions
this year our students have risen to the challenge. We have an
amazing group of students in the band program that worked
together to make the most of this upcoming season!
This year our show is entitled Voyagers where we feature
music from the Disney Motion Picture, Moana . We open the
show with You’re Welcome sung by the awesome
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in the movie featuring our
percussion section. Our second song transitions into We Know
the Way as we navigate to the island of Te Fiti as we feature the
auxiliary unit in the band. We close our show with How Far I’ll
Go as we reach the end of our voyage. We hope you enjoy the
Emerald Night Marching Band’s 2020 Production of Voyagers !
