D'TEKUN PARCEL HUB
D’Tekun Parcel Hub was initiated by the Tekun Residentials
Council under the firm Tekun Legacy Enterprise. It was officially
formed on 12 December 2021 and took 4 months for preparation.
D’Tekun Parcel Hub opened on 4 April 2022 and the main service
provided is a mini post office. This initiative was taken by the
Tekun Residentials Council to accept the challenge to partake in
entrepreneurship activities. The crew consists of 6 main
managers, 14 secretariats and 30 full time workers which are all
USM students. It is hope that this business will be continued in the
future as a legacy for the Tekun Residentials Council and become
a new symbol in this new academic year as well as to widen the
service range provided.

Tekun Merchandise is a project with a
goal to provide high-quality,
affordable, and stylish merchandise
products meant to be used by USM
students on a daily basis. The initial
designs were provided by USM
students to help promote the USM
branding among them. The design
process goes as follows; making the
design mockup which had to be
approved by Penggawa. Then, each
team comes up with their own design
which was then voted by all MPDT
members. Finally, designs are finalized
after mockup printing.

In this academic session, we had a
mental health talk focusing on burnout
titled Bicarawara: Bounce Back from
Burnout. The talk features two speakers;
Pn Yong Bazilah Abu Bakar and Dr
Safwan Muhammad, and moderated by
Firdaus or known as Cikambai, a
member of MPDT. Almost forgot to
mention, this is the first physical
program of MPDT this year that involves
participant after so long! This program
covered some ways to deal with
burnout given that students were
having difficulty adapting in the new
norm of online learning which can be
mentally draining. The speakers also
talked a little bit about how to control
our emotion when it gets a bit too
overwhelming.
The talk was highly interactive and those who
participated were given gifts by the speakers.
At the end of the program, Pn Yong Bazilah
mentioned to us committees that she
wouldn’t agree to this program if it was done
online and that she’s glad that the
participants were responsive to the
activities and questions. Although it was a
small event, we can say that it is nicely done
11as the first physical event this academic
session!
SAYEMBARA WARISAN
PANTUN
Winning Award:
Best Team Opening
Highest League Scoring!!
The annual competition, Sayembara Warisan Pantun previously known as Sayembara Pantun Nusantara was
held from 24th June until 26th June 2022. The Sayembara Warisan Pantun program is a platform for
bringing together Malaysian university students. This contest is organized to discover students’ unique
pantun skills, expertise, and ingenuity.
In contrast to the previous year, when the tournament was only shown live on YouTube, this year's
competition was broadcast live.
The final stage was full of cheers from supporters cheering for their respective groups. The event was also
enlivened by the presence of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Profesor Dr. Azlinda Binti Azman.
There were four categories contested which are Mendendangkan Pantun Melayu, Membeli Pantun, Sketsa
Pantun Jenaka and Mencipta dan Melafazkan Pantun. Unfortunately, Desasiswa Tekun’s Pantun team was
unable to make the finals. However, they had won Anugerah Persembahan Pembukaan Terbaik.
Congratulations Desasiswa Tekun’s Pantun team !
FESTIVAL MUSABAQAH
AL-QURAN
Winning Award:
Second place in Tilawah Al-Quran
(Nurul Rasnisah binti Rajehinda)
A yearly event at USM and the Festival Musabaqah Al-Quran renaming for Majlis Tilawah Al-Quran. Mohd Fazy Bin
Sudarman, Muhammad Aarif Bin Mohd Foudzi, Mohamad Zakwan Hakimi bin Mohd Zamri, and Nurul Rasnisah Binti
Rajehinda are the four representatives that Tekun submitted to the competition, however only Nurul Rasnisah was
sent to the final.
This year, Desasiswa Aman Damai led Festival Musabaqah Al-Quran, and Tekun only had to send four secretaries to the
registration department, where they remained all day. Additionally, Festival Musabaqah Al-Quran lasted for two days
and was a lot of fun to attend.
Nurul Rosnisah came in second for Tilawah Al-Quran in this competition!! Sincere thanks and appreciation from
Tekun to all of the participants for taking the time and making the commitment to be a part of this programme.

TEKUN JOHAN
DEBAT PIALA NAIB CANSELOR
A debate competition held for all Desasiswa in USM where they will be competing
against each other. While this year’s host is Desasiwa Indah Kembara, it did not stop
our passionate line of debaters representing Tekun to win and become the
champion for this year’s DPNC. After working hard day and night practicing debates,
it is no wonder that our debate team was able to achieve such an amazing feat. To
top it off, one of our debaters, Mohamad Firdaus, was announced the 4th best
debaters for the whole competition. Of course, our debate team could not have
done it without the guidance of Abang Jerry, an ex-MPDT and an excellent person
that we cannot be more grateful of.

The welfare and sustainability portfolio included
the initiative Tekun Redeem. The program's
goals are to inspire students to learn about
sustainability in accordance with the
Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), while
also providing them with opportunities to make
contributions to reducing pollution that
negatively affects the environment.
Weeco, which stands for Waste Eco Electronic
Control Operation, is a partner of Tekun
Redeem this semester as opposed to
previous. Weeco is an organisation that uses
a methodical technological methodology and
offers free waste management consulting.
Students who signed up for the programme
must download the Weeco applications in
order to receive coins for each time they send
their recyclables items to the program's
secretariat. This type of approach may inspire
students to recycle more frequently.

Congratulations to our dear Principal, Mr. Mohd
Rashid bin Abdul Rejab, and the Chairperson(Fine Art)

This time around, MPDT brought OFAL
to the students of marginalised
communities in Taman Tun Sardon.
We collaborated with Bahagian
Jaringan Industri & Masyarakat
(BJIM) and organised a tuition centre
program that focused on arts and soft
skills. Being part of the program, we
saw how the kids are so engrossed in
the activities done, and by the end of
every session, they were always so
excited for the next session.

Why don't we Play... Date?
MPDT Playdate is an internal event which focuses on getting to know each other and build
teamwork between members since most of us(? Or them) are first years. It is an explorace-based
activity where they are grouped into 5-6 members per group which consist of different portfolio
members. Tekun cheers are used as the groups’ own cheers to strengthen the Tekun spirit among
members. Best believe the person in charge for each station asked every group to do the cheers
every time. The explorace was done in the morning as the first session and ended at noon and
the activity continued in the afternoon. Oh, the second session was a hot heated debate, with a
twist! This activity was done to polish problem-solving skill of the members as well as effective
communication. If you ask me, the “discussion” was remarkably interesting, and I would like to do
it again but with a different topic. We ended the event with some lucky draws and finally, the
prize distribution for the winners of the explorace.
