ABOUT US 02 Doanh Sinh tourism services and joint-stock trading company is an environmentally conscious tourism zone focused on offering ecotourism and resort services. Just 12 km to the west of Ninh Binh city and lying in Hai Nham Village, Ninh Hai Commune, Hoa Lu District, the Thung Nham Ecotourism Zone is located in the core area of Trang An Landscape Complex, right next to the Tam Coc - Bich Dong tourist attraction. Covering an area of more than 300ha, the Thung Nham Ecotourism Zone offers an ideal getaway from the strains of day-to-day life and the stresses of work, with numerous activities including fishing, hiking, visiting orchards, swamp and virgin forests, caves, and a bird park with a great diversity of species. The name ‘Thung Nham’ alone carries a weight of seductive exotica and bears the distinctive indigenous elements of Ninh Binh and North Vietnam. ‘Thung Nham’ signifies the two geographical features of the land, with ‘Thung’ meaning valley while ‘Nham’ refers to the steep cliffs and mountains. So the word can be roughly translated as ‘a valley surrounded by towering mountains.’ THE NAME THUNG NHAM

‘Dong Tien Ca’ is one of Thung Nham’s magnificent karst topographies, complete with a bamboo walkway leading visitors through maze-like halls and tunnels replete with pristine speleothems. The name ‘Mermaid Cave’ is inspired by the tale of mermaids, the Mermaid King, and the sea kingdom. Before assuming its current name, ‘Dong Tien Ca’ was known as the Fish Cave to the locals as it shelters the ‘Tong Truong’ climbing perch and ‘ca trau’ - a member of the snakehead family, two delicacies across Vietnam with the latter being affectionately called the ‘food of emperors.’ 3. DONG TIEN CA (MERMAID CAVE) 07 LENGTH > 1.000 METERS The Thung Nham Bird Park is home to 46 species of both migratory and resident birds. It has breeding groups of storks, night herons, mallards, and Eurasian teals. What is perhaps even more striking is the preservation of the Asian openbill storks - a rare species listed in Vietnam’s Red Data Book. A trip to the Thung Nham Bird Park at sunset creates the wow factor of seeing birds heading off and arriving in their millions. 4. BIRD PARK SPECIES DIVERSITY 46 SPECIES OF BIRDS TOURIST ATTRACTIONS The Prostrate-Before-God Cave served as an altar where the early residents of the former capital city Hoa Lu laid offerings to the divine beings and prayed for good weather and bumper crops. The cave is located more than 80 meters above the ground and offers a commanding view of Thung Nham mountain scenery in a relaxing rural setting. Dong Vai Gioi offers a perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life. Its three chambers are believed to represent the three realms of existence - Heaven, Earth, and Hell. This is why the cave is said to be the holy sanctuary where yin and yang harmonize, Earth and Heaven intersect. 1. DONG VAI GIOI (PROSTRATE-BEFORE-GOD CAVE) CAVE SYSTEM The Buddha Cave is relatively devoid of human intervention and boasts various imagination-inspiring rock formations. It also has a storied history woven with a mix of imagination and fact. Local lore has it that in a period of calamity and lost harvest, famine pervaded. The early settlers of this region had to make ends meet by hunting and gathering firewood. Boats were the only way to reach the other end of the cave, but the path was not easy. Imagining that the stalagmite resembling an old man in the cave was the reincarnation of Buddha descended to Earth, residents of Hai Nham hamlet named the cave ‘Hang But’ (or Buddha Cave). They also turned the stalagmite into an object of worship, believing that Buddha will appear and come to their aid whenever adversity comes. 2. HANG BUT (BUDDHA CAVE) 06 HEIGHT > 80 METERS LENGTH 500 METERS VOLUME 5.000 M2

5. SPIRITUAL COMPLEX The Thung Nham banyan tree has watched over this holy ground for over a thousand years. Scientists estimate that it has taken three ‘steps’ around the sacred Linh Than Shrine under it and is at the beginning of the fourth. While banyan trees tend to ‘move’ toward water sources, the one in Thung Nham circles the shrine instead of going towards the nearby lake, which, in the eyes of local devotees of Buddhism, is proof the land under it possesses sacred power. The banyan tree and its entwining prop roots, over time, form what the locals believe is a screen wall protecting the whole spiritual complex from adverse energy. THE MOVING BANYAN TREE Situated at the foot of Thung Nham’s twin mountains is the Goi Dai Temple - the name means ‘continuation of dynasties’ in Vietnamese. It serves as a reminder for the younger generations, telling them to express gratitude for their ancestors - a morality strongly encouraged by the Vietnamese culture. GOI DAI TEMPLE The Linh Than Shrine honors the life and celebrates the legacy of Viet Thang Lord - a general under Dinh Tien Hoang, the first emperor of the short-lived Dinh dynasty. After his death, the general was enshrined as a guardian deity and assumed a new name - Viet Vuong Saint. The shrine is home to an altar made from five ancient stone slabs upon which sit two antique joss stick bowls. One is shaped in the form of a cylinder and the other a rectangular block, engraved with images of two dragons confronting each other with a flaming pearl between them. LINH THAN SHRINE 08 7. ORCHARD The Thung Nham pick-your-own orchard covers an area of more than 80,000m2, featuring a wide array of tropical fruits. A visit here culminates with visitors taking their pick from whatever is growing. Thung Nham Food Court grows much of its own organic produce at Thung Nham Farm - part of the orchard area, to feed visitors food that goes straight from farm to table. 09 TOTAL AREA 80.000M2 This splendid natural show of multiple species of blossoms takes over thousands of square meters of the ecotourism zone all year round. The seemingly endless terrain is covered with dahlias, African marigolds, sunflowers, petunias, daisies, and yellow cosmos in a variety of colors and scents. The Thung Nham flower paradise is a great place to immerse yourself in the abundance and saturated colors of the flower-strewn meadows of this rich valley. 6, THUNG NHAM FLOWER PARADISE
