JayLynn Barba (Dorothy Gale)
JayLynn is a senior at Butler High School. This is her eighth
production on the BHS stage. Other performances include
Peter and the Starcatcher as Molly, Into the Woods as Little
Red and A Murder is Announced as Mitzi. When not on stage,
Lynn enjoys reading fantasy novels recommended by Mr. He-
naghen and hanging out with her amazing friends in Miss Penney's room.
Speaking of which, she would like to thank her friends, family, and the staff for
making the past six years of drama the best years of her life!
Matthew Bandala (Man of Tin)
Matthew is a Senior at Butler High School.
But who is Matthew Bandala really?
In the 19th century B.C. Matthew Bandala arrived at Butler
Highschool and his influence is still seen there to this day
(since he’s still there). From my research I’ve concluded he
runs upon vast mountains and plays clarinet in a fenced off field.
At the same time?
Yes, much like subatomic particles he has a dual nature.
Oh ok, that makes sense. So he only does two activities outside of theatre?
No, on the coldest winters day he was found smiting icicles to refine his blade
skills and I also heard him singing for both Concert choir and the choir of the
Gilded Pipes.
Wow, very cool, now lets-
He also runs track and he’s been-
ALRIGHT that’s all the time we have, our next guest is Matthew Bandala him-
self to explain his role.
So Mr. Bandala, what is your role?
I’m tinman.
Brilliant.
We will now bring in a historian to BRIEFLY explain his theater experience.
In the 19th century B.C-
Ok nevermind I’ll do it. He was a guard, an enraged native, and a monkey
(almost).
Oh wait he’s leaving, HEY who’d you like to thank?
Huh? Oh yeah no problem. I really don’t mind helping out when-
I WASN’T THANKING YOU, I WANT TO KNOW WHO YOU WANT TO
THANK!
Oh ok, I would like to thank everyone involved in this production. You know I
have come to greatly enjoy acting thanks to this community, and I’m very grate-
ful to all those-
OK NICE THANK YOU, that concludes this interview please enjoy the show.
Matthew Budesheim (Scarecrow)
Matthew is a Junior at Butler High School. He is excited for
BHS Drama’s performance of The Wizard of Oz. Hopefully
there won’t be any cases of “Hay-fever,” before the show. He
has, unfortunately, not appeared in a show yet, but he won’t
let that stop him. He would like to thank the members of the drama club for their
warm welcome and lasting kindness. He cannot wait to show you just what a
Scarecrow can do, and he hopes you remember to... um, oh what was it again?
Delaney Diaz (Ensemble)
Delaney is a freshman at Butler High School. She is a dancer
and singer with the MSA Agency and is appearing in her first
musical at Butler High School. She has performed in Mariah
Carey's Christmas Concert three times at the Beacon Theater
also in the Colosseum in Vegas. She will appear in the movie
"In the Heights" opening on June 11th. Delaney is super excited to be doing her
first show at Butler High School is so excited for next year!
Katie Gallagher (Guard/Ensemble)
Katie is a sophomore at Butler High School and has been do-
ing theatre for several years. She has appeared as Ted in Pe-
ter and the Starcatcher, Mrs. Potts in Beauty and the Beast,
and Wendy in Peter Pan. She is also a member of the BHS
marching band and concert choir. She would like to thank the cast for every-
one’s hard work and making the show so much fun.
David Gallagher (Cowardly Lion)
David is a Senior at Butler High School. He has been in many
different productions at Butler High School including Willy
Wonka and the Chocolate Factory as Mike Teevee, Addam’s
Family as the Caveman, Murder is Announced as Edmund,
Into The Woods as the Narrator and Peter and the Star Catcher as Prentice. He
can’t believe this is his last performance at Butler High School. He will be at-
tending Champlain College in Burlington Vermont this fall. He hopes you enjoy
the show.
Perrin Limey (Stage Manager)
Perrin is Junior at Butler High School. Perrin is super excited
that this year’s production is happening! In serving as the
stage manager, he loves correcting people when they mess
up their lines and reminding cast members (and directors) to
eat lunch. He would like to thank all the parents and teachers
who helped pull this production together. And to any future freshman watching,
yes we are as weird as we look, and yes you’re always welcome!
Morgan Maher (Ensemble)
Morgan is a sophomore at Butler High School and is appear-
ing in her second BHS musical. Morgan has been involved in
theater productions since she was 8 years old and planning to
make theater her future career. Her most recent show was
Rent at Rhino Theater. She would like to thank Miss Penney,
Miss Nash, the pit and her parents for always supporting her.
Lucas Melo (Uncle Henry)
Lucas Melo is a Senior at Butler High School. Lucas is also an
aspiring actor, one who thinks too highly of himself until it
comes to parenting. He is the person who thinks himself hilari-
ous while others have other opinions on him. Lucas has done
a few shows in his lifetime time, played the Beast in Beauty
and the Beast in a second grade play in his home country of Brazil, played Mrs.
Bumbrake in Peter and the Starcatcher in his junior year, was almost Vlad Vla-
dikoff in Seussical until Covid ran its course, and is now appearing onstage as
the beloved Uncle Henry. He would like to thank him, himself, and his alter ego
for getting here, of course he also gives thanks to Karen, Kate, Logan (fly high),
and all my other cast members, past and present, along with the amazing direc-
tor known as Penney who put up with him for two years in class and theater. He
truly could not have made it this far without them and of course, himself. He
hopes to continue to act even in college and hopes he can bring just as much
fun there as he did with this cast.
James (J.P.) Mirabella (Oz/Professor Marvel)
J.P. Mirabella is a senior at Butler High School. He has per-
formed in every show during his time at Butler High School
including The Addams Family as Cousin Itt, A Murder is An-
nounced as Sergeant Mellor, Into the Woods as The Steward,
and Peter and the Starcatcher as Smee. He likes to sleep in
any place he can find and can sustain himself on Oreos, cheese balls, and cof-
fee. He is involved in many school activities such as Band, Choir, and Fencing.
Outside of school he is involved in Karate and Boy Scouts. Recently, J.P.
earned the rank of Eagle Scout after completing his Eagle Project, with the help
of many of his drama and scouting friends, by redesigning, rebuilding, and reor-
ganizing the Drama Department's storage area. He would like all you young
whipper snappers to enjoy your time watching the performance, and to remem-
ber that you should always follow the Yellow Brick Road.
Karen Pregenzer (Wicked Witch/Miss Gultch)
Karen is a senior in Butler High School. This will be her 6th
year performing theater and her 12th high school show. She is
happy to be able to bring shows to life and create happiness
for people of all ages. She is so proud of everyone in the
show and hopes you all enjoy the creative and crazy show they have prepared
for you. She also wants to thank her mom for always believing in her and push-
ing her to do the things she loves.
Bri Schwerzler (Aunt Em)
Bri is a junior at Butler High School. You may recognize them
from their performances in Into the Woods as ensemble or as
Captain Robert Falcon Scott in Peter and the Starcatcher. Bri
is very happy to be back on the stage with the cast after such
a long time. Bri hopes that you enjoy the show.
Kate Szkapiak (Glinda)
Kate is a senior at Butler High School. She has been in vari-
ous productions such as, A Murder is Announced as Miss
Marple, Into the Woods as Snow White, Peter and the
Starcatcher as Mermaid, Seussical as a Bird Girl, and She
Kills Monsters as Agnes. Kate wishes her cast good luck as we hit the stage a
little differently this year. She is very thankful that we are able to have a musical
production this year and hopes you enjoy the show!
