https://www.bikernet.com/pages/EARTH_DAY_CANCELLED_BIKERNET_WEEKLY_NEWS_for2022.aspx Pittsburgh & Lakeland, FL
have instituted smart intersections but are handling them differently. As more cities become connected, i.e., having
elements of infrastructure & society interconnected digitally via the internet, intelligent signaling might revolutionize
traffic flow, for better or worse. In 2012, Pittsburgh installed smart signals at 9 intersections utilizing the Rapid Flow
Technology Surtrac System, a briefcase-sized box at each junction. It gathers info on vehicular flow & uses it to adjust
traffic signals in real-time—it's a decentralized adaptive traffic control system. In the initial tests, city traffic engineers
found that travel time dropped by 26 %, intersection wait time decreased by 40 %, & vehicle emissions were reduced
by 21 %. Here’s how Surtrac works: Each intersection node utilizes a traffic camera to monitor traffic in real-time. The
Surtrac computer in the suitcase node crunches a range of scheduling options & then continuously evaluates the signal
timing while sending the info to neighboring nodes at other intersections. Surtac basically brings computational
analysis closer to the data sources, improving response times while regulating unpredictable urban traffic.
In 2022, Pittsburgh has grown its Surtrac program to 50 smart intersections, & plans are for the city to
invest $30 million for 150 more. Currently, 22 cities use Surtrac—it's relatively cheap & easy to install & maintain. On
the other hand, Lakeland utilizes a similar system but with a twist. Recently, officials announced that the city received a
$500,000 grant from the state to expand its Intersection Avoidance Safety Program. Located east of Tampa, the city of
nearly 108,000 will expand its program to include 25 additional high-impact intersections that work in conjunction with
the city's red-light camera program. Similar to Surtrac, the Intersection Avoidance Safety System has sensors that
measure the speed of a vehicle & its distance from an intersection. It predicts whether the driver will run the red light or
be clear of the intersection in time. If so, it alerts the signal controller to extend an all-red phase, which means that all
directions at the junction have a red light. This forces any driver approaching the intersection to stop. In Feb 2021, the
city council authorized these AI sensors to be placed at 4 of its red-light camera intersections. Lakeland is the first
place in FL & the country to use this particular system. In the next phase of the program, the city plans to explore a
warning system that uses a driver's smartphone or some other in-vehicle tech to give an alert about a possible red-light
runner. --NMA

https://www.wideopenspaces.com/know-use-purple-paint-posts-trees-texas/ There
are multiple states in the US, including TX, that use the color purple
as a warning to trespassers. Purple shows well in the outdoors. In
fact, it's one of the only colors that colorblind people can easily
identify. Having said that, just seeing it on a fence post or painted
on a tree as you go by might only garner a quick glance & an odd
look. It started in Arkansas in 1989 & by 1997, Texas had adopted the "purple paint rule" as an act of legal legislation
to post private property. Not only does it mean "no hunting," it also means "no trespassing," & is an effective way for
property owners to post their land quickly & easily. "The reason they did that is they were trying to keep landowners
from constantly having to replace signs." Originally landowners were required to have a "no trespassing" or other sign
posted to explain the purple paint, but only 1 year later that rule was rescinded. The new law states that the purple
paint marks must be located in vertical lines a minimum of 8“ long & at least 1” wide. The marked posts or even trees
must have clearly visible paint & that paint must be placed 3-5’ from the ground. Other states with purple paint rules to
indicate property lines include KA, AZ, MO, Arkansas, Idaho, FL, Maine, NC, MI & Illinois. PA also recently adapted the
use of purple paint markings to indicate no trespassing in 2020. No matter what state you're in, "posted" & other no-
trespassing signs can be a headache for landowners to constantly replace. Now we just need more states to get in on
the purple markings rule. It seems like it would make criminal trespass & other law violations a lot easier for law
enforcement to police. The only thing left to be done is to share the meaning of the rule so everyone knows!

MT DORA —On hundreds of acres of cattle ranchland dotted with houses on large lots, homes have started to rise
around the intersection of SR 46 & Round Lake Rd — growth driven in part by a spur of the Wekiva Parkway that
opened 2 years ago. The area includes subdivisions that are or likely
will be part of Mt Dora, as well about 850 acres of the Wolf Branch
Innovation District, where more than 2,500 multifamily units & millions of
square feet of offices & industrial space are proposed. If all that is
possible is built in coming years, it will alter the rolling hills on the
outskirts of Mt Dora’s charming downtown, bringing hundreds of
residents &, officials say, high-wage jobs that northern Lake County
lacks. Officials compare its potential to Lake Nona, the planned
community in southern Orange County with a mix of homes, apartments,
businesses & large employers like the UCF College of Medicine &
Nemours Children’s Hospital. Lake Nona, once open fields with a few
residential areas, grew after SR 429 was finished in the area.

Officals say, the flexibility to change the mix of what is built in the
Innovation District — & the attraction of a lower cost-of-living in Lake —
will help the area succeed. One indicator that things finally might be
kicking off is the sale of 550 acres along SR 46 in Sorrento. The district was discussed as long ago as 2004.The Lake
County Commission, in a split decision on April 5, approved a subdivision for 264 homes on 78 acres where cattle now
graze across from the Sullivan Ranch community on Round Lake Rd, less than 1 mile south of SR 46. Richland
Communities purchased 550 acres in the Innovation District near the exit of SR 453 & the Wekiva Parkway. Richland
could build “2,560 multifamily units, 2.36 million square feet of industrial space, about 520,000 square feet of
commercial space & 3.6 million square feet of ‘employment space.’ Officials attribute the growth to the extension of SR
429, known as the Wekiva Parkway, from Apopka to I-4 in Sanford, which will complete the loop around Orlando when
it is finished. A spur of the parkway, SR 453, opened in 2018 — almost 15 years after the original road was proposed.
“No one could have predicted what happened in the last few years,” said Lake Commissioner Blake, who supported
the Aston Woods community on Round Lake Rd, at the April 5 meeting. “All of a sudden regional office space is not a
high value commodity.”

---DeSantis Sets May Session on Property Ins By Jim Turner ©2022 The News Service
of Florida. All rights reserved; see terms. TALLAHASSEE --- FL lawmakers will return to
the Capitol the week of May 23 to address problems in the property-ins system that have
led to homeowners losing coverage & facing soaring premiums. Gov DeSantis called a
special session from May 23 to May 27 & listed general topics such as reinsurance, the
Office of Ins Regulation & changes to the FL Building Code to improve the affordability of
property ins. In the proclamation, DeSantis said insurers in the state have experienced “2
straight years of net underwriting losses exceeding $1 billion each year,” while pointing to
issues such as large numbers of lawsuits over claims. “The Legislature made great strides
on meaningful property ins reforms in 2021, & we are already seeing the positive impacts of
that work,” Sprowls said. “We look forward to working with our partners to evaluate whether
there is more we can do to address the availability & affordability of property ins. The FL
House will remain primarily focused on addressing the needs of the policyholders of FL.” In
2021, lawmakers approved changes that included a new formula to limit fees of attorneys
who represent homeowners in lawsuits against insurers & a reduction from 3 yrs to 2 yrs in
the time to file claims. They also passed a proposal aimed at preventing roofing contractors from advertising to spur
homeowners to file ins claims, though a federal court has blocked that part of the law on free-speech grounds. The law
also allowed larger rate increases for customers of the state-backed Citizens Property Ins Corp., which is often able to
charge less than private carriers. The House & Senate were unable to reach agreement on an ins bill during this
year’s regular legislative session, which ended March 14, with the Senate wanting to take more-aggressive steps to
bolster private insurers. As an ex, the Senate proposed allowing new deductibles of up to 2 % on roof-damage claims -
-- an outgrowth of complaints by insurers that questionable, if not fraudulent, roof claims are driving up costs. But the
House rejected the idea, which would have led to increased out-of-pocket costs for homeowners who need to replace
damaged roofs. Part of the fallout from the private-market problems has led to thousands of homeowners a week
obtaining coverage from Citizens Property Ins Corp., which was created as an insurer of last resort. Citizens saw its
numbers jump from 817,926 policies on March 31 to 842,298 as of the end of last week & is expected to top 1 million
by the end of the year. — News Service Executive Editor Jim Saunders contributed to this report.

------ Backroom Briefing: Who Has a Problem? Weekly political notes from The News Service of Florida By Jim Turner ©2022
The News Service of Florida. All rights reserved; see terms. TALLAHASSEE --- Verbal sparring continues between President
Biden & US Sen Scott, R-Fla., over how to address inflation & other economic issues. Scott, a former FL governor, has
become a target for Democrats because of his “11-Point Plan to Rescue America.” Anticipating the content of a
morning speech by Biden on inflation, Scott issued a statement calling the president “unwell.” “It’s simple. The most
effective thing Joe Biden can do to solve the inflation crisis he created is resign. He’s the problem. Getting him out of
office is a quick & easy solution,” Scott said. “Let’s be honest here. Biden is unwell. He’s unfit for office. He’s
incoherent, incapacitated & confused. He doesn’t know where he is half the time. He’s incapable of leading & he’s
incapable of carrying out his duties. Period. Everyone knows it. No one is willing to say it. But we have to, for the sake
of the country. Joe Biden can’t do the job.” When Biden during his address mistakenly said Scott is from Wisconsin,
Scott fired off a tweet. “Joe is so incapacitated & incoherent, he can’t even keep his states straight,” Scott tweeted.
Asked by a reporter after the address about Scott's resignation comments, Biden quipped, “I think the man has a
problem.” Democrats & Biden have focused on parts of Scott’s plan, which hasn’t been embraced by many others in
the GOP. Biden said Scott’s plan calls for all Americans, including low-income families, to pay income taxes & for the
reauthorization of all federal program every five years Biden said the reauthorization component will “put Social
Security, Medicare & Medicaid on the chopping block every 5 years.” “You know what they're likely to do, use them as
hostages every five years to get their way & other things,” Biden said. “Think about it. ‘Give us another tax cut for
billionaires or Social Security gets it.’ ‘Stop investing in clean energy or we're gonna kiss your Medicare goodbye.’”

------PENSION FUND PUSH As lawmakers prepare to gather May 23 for a special session about the state’s property-
ins problems, Democrats want them to also consider divesting pension-fund investments linked to Russia. “These
funds are helping to prop up the economy of Russia & are working against international efforts to sanction President
Putin & his oligarchs for their war crimes in Ukraine,” Democratic lawmakers said. “Our bureaucracy has a fiduciary
responsibility to chase value, which means they could, without our knowledge, pump more of FL’s money into Russia
looking for cheap investments,” Of FL’s $195 billion in pension investments, the amount tied to Russia is relatively
small. Before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, an estimated $300 million could be linked to Russian-owned or
headquartered businesses.

-----WOKE & VOTE The FL’ Black Legislative Caucus is asking voters to “stay woke” & pledge to vote in 2022. “We
are fed up with the constant attacks on Black people in this state, & we are making sure our community is prepared to
vote on Election Day,” the caucus said on a website asking people to pledge to vote in the Aug. 23 primaries & the
Nov. 8 general election. Sen Jones, D-West Pk, said the campaign is in response to DeSantis & the Republican-
controlled Legislature “doing everything in their power to try & make it harder for people of color to vote.”

-----BLUE SHIFT Meanwhile, the FL Democratic Party announced plans to put $15 million into voter-registration &
organizational efforts in all 67 counties under the title of “Blue Shift FL.” “Blue Shift will build the foundation to
institutionalize unity among all our candidates, county party organizations & stakeholders, year-round work & staffing
during on & off years, develop a joint strategy & budget, & foster a team organizational approach where all participants
assume responsibility & benefit together," FL Democratic Party Chairman Diaz said. The effort comes after
Republicans have taken the lead in voter registration in the state. As of March 31, 5,145,983 voters were registered as
Republicans, 5,034,448 were registered as Democrats, & 3,871,336 weren’t tied to any party. Another 256,560
Floridians were registered with minor parties.

ARIZONA LEGALIZES LANE FILTERING Governor Ducey (R) has signed Senate Bill 1273 into law on March 24,
2022, that legalizes lane “filtering” for 2-wheeled motorcycles under specified conditions. SB 1273 was sponsored by
Senator Tyler Pace (R-Dist. 25), an avid motorcyclist himself, who clarified that lane filtering & lane splitting are not the
same thing, & this new law will only allow for low-speed lane filtering in certain situations, like in Ut & Mo, not “lane
splitting” on highways as commonly practiced in Ca. It was crafted to resemble a similar lane filtering measure enacted
in Ut in 2019 that was just recently extended by their state legislature for another 5 years. According to the bill as
written, amended, passed through both chambers of the State house with bipartisan support, & signed into law
effective in 90 days after adjournment: “The operator of a 2-wheeled motorcycle may overtake & pass another vehicle
that is stopped in the same direction of travel & in the same lane as the operator & may operate the motorcycle
between lanes of traffic if the movement may be made safety & it the operator does both of the following: 1. Operates
the motorcycle on a street that both: (a) is divided into at least 2 adjacent traffic lanes in the same direction of travel.
(b) has a speed limit that does not exceed forty-five miles per hour.2. Travels at a speed that does not exceed 15 miles
per hour” Other provisions in the bill spell out the fact that, under Arizona state law, motorcycles are entitled to full use
of a lane on the road. They may also ride 2 abreast -- but no more than 2 can ride in this configuration across a single
lane. Furthermore, motorcycles may not pass other vehicles within a single lane except in the specific situations
outlined by the language above. Riding in between lanes is also not allowed by motorcycles in most situations, except
in the specific circumstance outlined above. It’s also important to note that this law specifically addresses 2-wheeled
motorcycles, as trikes & sidecars are prohibited from performing such maneuvers under any circumstances.

STANDARD DRIVER’S LICENSE APPROVED FOR 3-WHEELERS IN NY After both the reclassification of the 3-
wheeled motorcycle as a 3-wheeled motor vehicle & providing operator licensing requirements similar to nearly every
U.S. state, residents in the state of New York can now operate 3-wheelers such as the Polaris Slingshot with a
standard driver’s license. Beginning April 20, 2022 drivers in the Empire State can drive an open-air machine with
“side-by-side bucket seats, seat belts, & an automated manual transmission or manual transmission option typically
found in traditional automobiles” using their standard D-class driver’s license, instead of the previously required
motorcycle endorsement. The state of NY has both reclassified the 3-wheeled motorcycle as a 3-wheeled motor
vehicle (often referred to as “autocycle”) & conferred operator licensing requirements comparable to nearly every U.S.
state.

‘EXPANSIVE REMOVAL’ OF TARIFFS BENEFITS HARLEY-DAVIDSON A deal has been made between the UK &
the US to suspend retaliatory tariffs on imported American products such as HD motorcycles, leading to potentially
cheaper bikes. Back in 2018, following a dispute with the European Union (of which the UK was then a part) the Trump
admin imposed tariffs on imported steel & aluminum. In response, retaliatory tariffs were imposed on US imports such
as Levi jeans, whiskey &… Harleys However, following a meeting between the UK & US trade officials in Washington,
DC on March 22, an agreement was reached whereby the US will partially end tariffs on British steel & aluminum. In
response, the UK will suspend retaliatory measures against US products, with the “expansive removal” of tariffs taking
effect in June this year.

------- https://www.cnbc.com/2022/05/06/this-is-how-student-loan-debt-became-a-1point7-trillion-crisis.html This month, the Education Dept
said it’s forgiving loans of more than 110K government workers (think: teachers, firefighters). But the rest of debt holders
aren’t so lucky, since Biden’s blanket loan-forgiveness promise isn’t panning out. Still, the pause on student loans has
now been extended six times since March 2020, saving borrowers $1.5B a month in interest payments alone. Payments
are set to resume in September, & if nothing changes, student debt could top $3T by 2035.

--------- This US college offers a pornography class where students ‘will watch pornographic films together’
The course, titled Film 300O: Porn, will require students to watch pornographic films together & discuss the
“sexualization of race, class & gender, & as an experimental, radical art form." Westminster college has stoked a
controversy with its 'porn' class A private college in the US is offering its students a pornography class which will
require them to “watch pornographic films together”. Westminster College has said it will stand by its plan to offer an
elective class on pornography despite social media backlash. “Hard core pornography is as American as apple pie &
more popular than Sun night football,” Despite the onslaught of criticism & the listing which seems to have been
deleted, Westminster College says the class will be take place as planned in its upcoming term. “We have no intention
to back away from offering this class. By & large, the campus community is supportive of that academic freedom &
Westminster’s commitment to talking about tough subjects,” said Westminster College’s chief & added the course
would be taught by a “well-trained, published Ph.D. who’s taught classes like this & similar to this & subject matter
along these lines. She has lots of measures in place if students are feeling either uncomfortable or whatever the case
may be to leave the room & there’s no academic punishment for that. So she’s really aware of the sensitive nature of it
& she’s a professional.” According to USA Today, 14 students had signed up for the class as of three days ago. Yorkin

S_for_May_5th_2022.aspx -------- GOVERNMENT RELATIONS-- Presidential Support for Motorcycle Safety Awareness
Month -- A year in the making, the White House & President Biden have officially recognized Motorcycle Safety
Awareness Month, noting that millions of Americans enjoy motorcycling as transportation & a way of life, & that all
motorists have a role in making the nation's roadways safer for riders. "The MIC & Motorcycle Safety Foundation have
been working to raise the profile of our industry at all levels of government," said Schloegel. "This presidential
recognition began with your GRO's outreach to the White House in April 2021 & is a direct result of those efforts & a
meeting earlier this year with US Transportation Sec Buttigieg. We thank the him for his tremendous support. The
Biden admin has placed a priority on reducing highway deaths & on educating the motoring public, & this is just one of
many ways they are trying to accomplish that goal." Late last year, the MIC & the MSF worked with the American
Motorcyclist Assoc on a letter requesting White House recognition for Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month, high
lighting the annual public awareness campaigns by all 3 organizations & the DOT. --MIC

----- NEWS FROM THE NMA--Motor City should be Renamed Speed Hump City --The city of Detroit recently identified
more than 2,000 new speed hump locations. The plan is to install 3,000 of the traffic obstacles by the end of 2022.
That is in addition to the 5,500 humps added throughout the city in 2021. When this street obstacle program started as
part of Detroit's Complete Streets program, the city only had 400 in place. If plans meet expectations, Detroit will have
more than 10,500 speed humps to disrupt traffic before 2023. Speed humps are different than speed bumps &
cushions. They are generally 12 to 14’ long, spanning the width of the road & ranging from 3-4” high. The shapes can
be parabolic, circular, or sinusoidal. Speed humps are typically placed on residential streets, mid-block between
intersections. While some neighbors might like the speed humps, not all do. Detroit resident P Foster exclaimed, "It's
too many of them…they're putting them in spots that we don't need." Often the residents reconsider after the humps
have been in place for a while & have to be dealt with daily. Be careful what you wish for.

https://www.grossandschuster.com/man-burned-by-flicked-cigarette/
Man Burned by Flicked Cigarette -- I recently read an article published by ABC
News which presented some interesting legal issues. According to the article, a
motorcyclist was following a car on Jan 31, 18, on Highway 87 in Santa Rosa
Cnty. The car’s occupant apparently flicked a lit cigarette out the window, &
unfortunately, the cigarette went down the back of the motorcyclist’s shirt. His shirt
caught fire & he received third-degree burns on over 25% of his body. He
eventually ended up in the University of S Alabama Burn Unit & was hospitalized
for quite some time. Obviously, he had significant medical bills, permanent scarring, & intense pain. I am sure that the
driver who flicked the cigarette out of the window is clueless as to what happened, & of course, the motorcyclist would
likely have no way of knowing the occupants of that car. The question is, what, if any, compensation could the
motorcyclist receive for his injuries if the identity of the driver of the car cannot be determined through an investigation.
The likely answer would be to explore uninsured motorist coverage throughout the motorcyclist’s household.
Specifically, according to FL law, even though this was not technically a car accident, it was automobile related & the
provisions of FL’s uninsured motorist law applies. Quite frankly, most motorcycles do not have underinsured motorist
coverage since they are inherently dangerous & the premiums are expensive. However, there might be automobiles
within the injured party’s household that could have this coverage & might apply. A lawyer would have to obtain all
policies of resident relatives within the injured party’s household & see if there is any stacking uninsured motorist
coverage. If so, then those coverages could be utilized to not only pay the motorcyclist’s medical bills, but also
compensate him for general damages for pain & suffering, mental anguish, & loss of capacity to enjoy his life.
Presuming the motorcyclist lived with his parents, there could be a significant amount of underinsured motorist
coverage that would not be obvious to the average layperson. After having practiced personal injury law in Northwest
FL for almost 40 years, I can attest to the fact that I have used uninsured motorist coverage on numerous occasions
where there looked to be no coverage at all. If you have any questions regarding injuries from a car wreck, you may

https://www.fairus.org/legislation/state-and-local-legislation/sanctuary-policies/virginias-largest-school-district-adopts
---------- VA’s Largest School District Adopts Sanctuary Policy FAIR Take | May 2022 The Fairfax Cnty School
Board unanimously adopted a so-called “Trust Policy” on April 28. Fairfax Cnty Public Schools (FCPS) is the largest
school district in VA & one of the largest in the country, with an estimated more than 180,000 students enrolled in 198
schools for the 2020 school year. The school district is also one of the largest employers in the Commonwealth, with
nearly 25,000 full-time employees. The more egregious provisions of the “FCPS Trust Policy” include:

1.Prohibiting FCPS employees from asking for or recording any info regarding an individual’s citizenship or immigration
status, or “personally identifying info;” 2. Prohibiting FCPS employees from disclosing info regarding an individual’s
citizenship or immigration status “unless the action is (a) required by valid state or federal law or regulation, judicial
warrant, court order or subpoena, or (b) has been authorized by the individual or guardian;” 3. Forbidding
compliance with immigration detainers, administrative warrants, orders of removal, & other similar federal immigration
enforcement documents; 4. Banning FCPS police, including school resource officers (“SROs”) from facilitating
immigration enforcement or participating in any request for assistance; 5. Allowing individuals to provide schools with
foreign identification documents, including expired documents & requiring that these documents not be treated any
differently than a state driver’s license or ID card; 6. Denying immigration authorities access to FCPS facilities,
grounds, & property without a criminal judicial warrant; 7. Requiring attorneys in FCPS’s Office of Division Counsel to
approve all requests by immigration officials; & 8. Requiring FCPS employees be disciplined for violating the “Trust
Policy”. The FCPS “Trust Policy” is one more policy that Fairfax Cnty has implemented to shield illegal aliens. In 2021,
the Board of Supervisors adopted similar policies for other county agencies, including the Fairfax Cnty Police Dept.
Additionally, Fairfax Cnty Sheriff S Kincaid has not honored immigration detainers for inmates in the county
jail since May 2018. Moreover, she has recently decided that her office will no longer even notify ICE prior to
releasing an individual from custody with an ICE detainer.

Finally, Fairfax Cnty Commonwealth Attorney Descano (D) has implemented policies since 2020 that minimize the
criminal consequences for illegal aliens committing crimes as well as protect them from immigration enforcement. The
policies implemented by Fairfax Cnty could undone by passing legislation at the state level. VA is a “Dillon Rule” state
which means local governments do not have home rule & their powers are limited to those granted by the legislature.
State anti-sanctuary legislation would immediately negate the dangerous policies implemented by Fairfax Cnty.
---- A Wall is Finally Being Built, But in the Wrong Place Preston Huennekens Government Relations Manager
FAIR Take | May 2022 After years of opposition to a southern border wall — & after shutting down the federal
government to prevent one — congressional Democrats suddenly became fond of physical barriers on their own
doorstep while depriving Americans of the same protection. This week leaders in WA, D.C. erected a wall of their own,
1,700 miles from the Southwest border, around the Supreme Court building. The leaked draft opinion showing that a
majority of Supreme Court justices may be set to overturn the landmark abortion case Roe v. Wade prompted
immediate protests outside of the Supreme Court building. Security forces immediately erected a tall security fence
around the court because of concerns about the protesters. As our southern border is overrun with illegal immigration,
drug trafficking, & misery, the WA establishment showed where their priorities lie. The establishment feel that walls
between WA elites & the general public are far more necessary than any barriers protecting our southern border. As
fencing around the Supreme Court rises, congressional Democrats maintain their opposition to any kind of barriers at
the Southwest border. On day one of his presidency, Biden’s first executive orders ended construction of the border
wall put underway by Trump, wasting hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars in unused equipment. While a border
wall would not address the root cause of our current immigration crisis – our weak & exploitable asylum laws – it would
make a significant impact on illegal crossings & force drug smugglers through the regular ports of entry. The debate
over walls captures the stunning hypocrisy of America’s political elite. Whether it is fencing constructed around their
mansions or barriers erected around the halls of our democracy, the message is clear: Walls for me, not for thee.

A Big Easy cop does the Big Sleezy & more prison guards go down. Let's get to it: In Stillwater, MI, a state prison
guard was arrested for smuggling methamphetamine into the prison. Guard Faith Gratz, 24, went down after a cell
phone seized from an inmate incriminated her in a smuggling plot. Prison officials searched her vehicle when she
arrived at work & found 233 grams of methamphetamine in it. She is charged with one count of methamphetamine
possession with intent to sell & one count of possession of 50 grams or more. A New Orleans police officer was
arrested on accusations he was dealing crack cocaine. Officer R Koeller III, 38, is also on emergency suspensions
pending the outcome of an "ongoing federal investigation." He was arrested by FBI agents & New Orleans police after
they executed a search warrant & came up with more than an ounce of crack cocaine. He is charged with illegally
carrying a weapon while possessing a controlled substance & possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine. He
could get up to 20 years under state law. In Punta Gorda, Florida, a guard at the Charlotte Correctional Institution
pleaded guilty to smuggling methamphetamine & MDMA into the prison. Troy Cole, 28, agreed on at least 3 separate
occasions to smuggle drugs into the prison in return for cash payments. He copped to attempted distribution of
methamphetamine & MDMA & is now looking at up to 20 years in federal prison.

This Week's Corrupt Cops Stories by psmith,
A former NYPD cop goes down hard for big-time dope-slinging, an Ohio jail deputy gets caught holding the baggies, &
more. Let's get to it: In Cincinnati, a Hamilton Cnty jail deputy was arrested after he got caught bringing 12 one-
ounce packages of marijuana into the jail. Jason Robinson, 22, was ratted out by fellow jail deputies. Robinson had just
graduated from the jail academy & was the president of his recruit class. He was charged with 2 felony counts of illegal
conveyance. In La Joya, Texas, a La Joya ISD police officer was arrested on weapons & drug charges. Officer Jose
Ramirez was charged with possession of a controlled substance, unlawfully carrying a weapon, & possession of a drug
test falsification device. He was arrested by Texas DPS troopers. In NY City, a former NYPD officer was sentenced
to 10 years in federal prison for peddling large quantities of gamma-butyrolactone(GBL) & methamphetamine. John
Cicero had pleaded guilty to 1 count of conspiring to distribute GBL & 50 grams of methamphetamine last Oct.

According to prosecutors Cicero & his co-conspirators stockpiled & sold liters of GBL & kilograms of methamphetamine
in apartments, hotel rooms, & storage units in the heart of midtown Manhattan, & a residence in Bronxville, NY. Cicero
played a prominent role in the conspiracy, as someone who had direct access to the Mexico-based source of supply &
with whom he arranged the receipt of & payment for methamphetamine. He also created & used fake iID documents &
stolen credit cards to pay for, among other things, the luxury Manhattan hotel rooms where drugs were trafficked &
used.

BRITISH BIKERS DECLARE ‘DECARBONIZATION’ POLICY; OPPOSE
BANNING ICE BIKES The British Motorcyclists Federation (BMF) have
detailed 3 key points in their recently announced decarbonization policy;
“regarding the use of internal combustion engine (ICE) motorcycles, the sale of ICE bikes, & the idea of electric battery
technology as the only solution going forwards for motorcycles.” Specifically, following the BMF Council meeting on
April 9th, the Federation’s position “is opposed to any proposals to ban the use of motorcycles powered by internal
combustion engines (ICE) while such vehicles are still capable of being run,” meaning gas is available. Additionally, the
Federation “is opposed to a ban on the sale of new ICE-powered motorcycles while there is the possibility of providing
alternatives to fossil fuel & while the electric vehicle charging infrastructure does not adequately support electric
motorcycles.” The BMF’s third & final point is that it “supports a technology-neutral approach to powering new
motorcycles; we do not accept that electric battery technology is the only approach.” BMF Director, A Zee, said, “The
use of motorcycles, however powered, rather than cars can make a valuable contribution to reducing carbon & particle
emissions & congestion of course.”

ITALY INCENTIVIZES ELECTRIC VEHICLES IN NEW LAW All over the world, governments are taking huge steps
towards the incentivization & mainstream integration of sustainable, low-emission mobility. More than ever before,
alternative modes of transport which were once seen as leisure activities, i.e., cycling & electric scooters are now being
integrated into the mainstream transportation framework, with infrastructure being developed to accommodate these
vehicles. The latest country to roll out some form of new incentivization program is Italy, wherein a law supporting
electric vehicles (EVs) will soon be implemented, & isn’t just centered around automobiles, but includes lightweight
electric vehicles such as motorcycles, mopeds & e-scooters, too. In fact, list prices could be slashed by up to 30% due
to the incentives. Mario Draghi, Italian prime minister, has signed a new Ministerial Decree which is set to finance
incentives for the purchase of electric & low-carbon vehicles. The government seeks to allocate sizable resources
towards the project, with 650 million Euros per year being set aside until 2024, which translates to a total of nearly two
billion Euros until 2024, & a staggering 8.7 billion until 2030. Not only will the incentivization program help to make low-
emission & fully electric transport more accessible to the general public, they’ll also provide manufacturers with a
much-needed boost. Minister of Economic Development Giancarlo Giorgetti explained that the industry is going
through a lot of difficulties including the pandemic, raw materials shortages occurring across the globe, as well as the
raging war in Ukraine which has disrupted several economies

STUDY IDENTIFIES 8 CATEGORIES OF MOTORCYCLIST Vias, a research group from Belgium, has conducted a
study into motorcyclists, from which they have determined 8 categories of motorcyclist; so what type are you? Firstly,
there is the Time-Optimizer, who uses their motorcycle to minimize the time of the journey. This comprised 11.6% of
the sample. Secondly, we have what Vias called the “Time-For-Me Seeker,” who are those riders who like to use the
motorcycle to relax, get away from the family or work. According to Vias, this category made up 18.8% of the sample.
Next up is “The Unconditional.” According to Vias, this group made up 9.5% of the sample, & these are those riders
who go out whenever, no matter the conditions, the time of day, the amount of rain - if the bike has fuel, that fuel will be
used. Moving on now to the fourth group, which Vias called the “Good-Vibe Seeker,” who are those who use their
motorcycle only when the weather allows for it. These riders ride solely for enjoyment, as well as to avoid using the
car. 14.2% fit into the “Good-Vibe” category. Now, onto group number five: the “I-Want-It-All” class. These are the
people who want the best of the best, the option that suits them & their needs perfectly. 18.2% apparently fall into this
category. The sixth group is called “Multimodal,” which is the category for people who are not solely riders, & use their

motorcycle in conjunction with other forms of transport, as well as instead of a car in good weather. These make up
11% of the sample. “The Daily User,” is category number seven. The Addict. The Junkie. The Two-Wheeled Doper.
Many of you reading this fall into this category, that makes up 7.5%. Only one category to go… That final category,
number eight, is “The Life-Long Experience,” whose members also probably fall into the “Daily User,” class. These are
the Lifers who make up 9.2%, & are the cornerstone of motorcycling, because they are the ones who -- intentionally or
otherwise -- pass the bug on to others, & keep our wheels turning. The Vias study was conducted using a sample of
3,000 16-years-old-&-over Belgians.
