Bengkel Penulisan Artikel Sesi 1

Pada 26 Januari 2019, Pusat Penyelidikan dan Penerbitan (PPP), Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali telah
mengadakan Bengkel Penulisan Artikel Sesi 1 kepada warga dan pelajar UNISSA. di bilik Latihan L1.3.
Prof. Dr Nehaluddin Ahmed merupakan fasilitator bagi Bengkel tersebut dan beberapa Pensyarah
termasuklah Dr Zeiad Amjad Abdulrazzak Aghwan merupakan penyelia bagi peserta bengkel penulisan
artikel tersebut.
Ikut serta bengkel tersebut ialah Hajah Norliza binti DSS Haji Mahalle, Nor Surilawana binti Haji Sulaiman
dan Raihana binti Mohd Raffi.

GMPs are one of systems that ensure
that the products include food &
beverage, cosmetics and pharmaceutical
are consistently produced and meet
quality standard before distribute to the
market. Other outcome for the workshop
would be for MSMEs to understand the
definition, principles and requirements to
be certified GMP.

Service Excellence in Hospitality/Food
Service Industry Workshop

Nor Surilawana binti Haji Sulaiman had attend Service Excellence in Hospitality/Food Service Industry
Workshop by SEAMEO VOCTECH which organised by Darussalam Enterprise (DARe) at kHub
Building, Anggerek Desa on 9—10 April 2019.
This 2-day training programme is geared towards providing the participants to explore the
fundamentals of customer service in the context of a competitive global hospitality environment. At the
end of this programme, participants will develop, cultivate and strengthen their excellent
service delivery skills, knowledge and attitude that will help to attract and retain the prospective and
current customers.

EBSCO Host

Nor Surilawana binti Haji Sulaiman and Dk Norhakimah binti Pengiran Haji Othman had attend
EBSCO Host which organised by Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali Library which held on 22 April 2019
at Computer Lab 2, Technology Multimedia Centre, UNISSA. The training was to train the participant
regarding the uses database.

Bengkel OJS

Profesor Madya Dr Nurdeng Deuraseh dan Nor Surilawana binti Haji Sulaiman telah ikut serta dalam
Bengkel Pengurusan Jurnal dalam Online Journal System yang dianjur oleh Pusat Penyelidikan dan
Penerbitan (PPP), UNISSA yang berlangsung di Computer Lab 2 pada 2 November 2019.

Tujuannya adalah untuk mempelajari pengurusan jurnal secara atas talian dengan cara yang mudah.
Semasa bengkel juga, ada melakukan praktikal memuatnaik artikel ke dalam jurnal di atas talian.

Halal Executive Course

The Centre for Lifelong Learning (C4L) and Halalan Thayyiban Research Centre (HTRC), Universiti
Islam Sultan Sharif Ali has co-organised an Halal Executive Course on 9 February 2019 with aimed to
increase knowledge on Halal and Haram matters in Islam apart from highlighting the importance of the
Halalan Thayyiban philosophy. The course also aimed to provide exposure on several matters
including halal standards and regulations pertaining to the Halal industry.
The one-day course was attended by 23 participants comprising officers from the government and
private sector, business company and factory owner as well as food distributors, academics and
students from higher education institutions. It was facilitated by Associate Professor Doctor Nurdeng
Deuraseh, Director of the Halalan Thayyiban Research Centre.

Halalan Thayyiban Talk

Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) through Halalan Thayyiban Research Center has conducted
3 series of knowledge sharing session called ‘Halalan Thayyiban Talk’ with theme ‘Ke Arah
Membangun Generasi Thayyibun wa Thayyibat’ which held at Jubilee Hall, UNISSA.

Halalan Thayyiban Talk Series 1 was held on 14 March 2019. Present as guest speaker, Penolong
Ketua Istinbat, Jabatan Mufti Kerajaan, Ustaz Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Pengarah Haji Mokti. He
shared his presentation entitled “Halalan Thayyiban dari Perspektif al-Quran dan al-Hadis: Menangani
Isu Berkaitan Pemakanan Halal” which enable students to gain knowledge and understanding of
thayyiban by looking at the evidence of the Quran and Al-Hadith, as well as increasing their knowledge
on the role of the Jabatan Mufti Kerajaan in addressing issues related to halal products.

Halalan Thayyiban Talk Series 2 was held on 21 March 2019 and Dr Noryati binti Haji Ibrahim, Acting
Deputy Director, Unit Perundangan Islam as guest speaker with title presentation of ‘Undang-Undang
Islam tentang Makanan Halal di Negara Brunei Darussalam’. She shared about the law and
responsibility of Unit Perundangan Islam.

While Halalan Thayyiban Talk Series 3 was held on 4 April 2019. Present as guest speaker, Senior

Religious Officer in

Halal Food Control

Division (BKMH),

Ministry of Religious

Affairs (KHEU),

Awang Ahmad Haziq bin Haji Abdul Hamid, among others

shared the background and responsibility of BKMH in

monitoring the entry and production of Halal food and products

in Brunei Darussalam in collaboration with the Brunei Islamic

Religious Council (MUIB), KHEU and the Prime Minister's

Department.

About 100 students, including lecturers and staff from Halalan
Thayyiban Research Center attended the sharing session. It is
hoped that such a sharing session will enable students to
contribute to the growth of the Halal industry and raise
awareness among consumers about the importance of halal
products, especially to the general public.

Seminar 101: Become a Halalpreneur

Seminar '101: Become a Halalpreneur' aims to raise awareness on local halal industry with business
opportunities in the sector. It was organised by University Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) through the
Halalan Thayyiban Research Centre in collaboration with Halasalam Corporation Sendirian Berhad at
UNISSA Auditorium on 18 May 2019.
The seminar was officiated by Dr Haji Mohammed Hussain bin Pehin Penyurat Haji Ahmad, Acting
Rector of UNISSA. Also present was Yang Berhormat Dayang Nik Hafimi binti Abdul Haadii, Member
of the Legislative Council. 230 participants comprised of government officers, students from higher
education institutes, university graduates, small, medium and micro entrepreneurs and the public also
attended the seminar.
During the seminar, four working papers were tabled by local and Malaysian speakers; ‘Brunei Halal
Industry’ presented by Managing Director, Halasalam Corporation (B) Sdn Bhd, Awang Haji Sabri bin
Haji Mohd Taha, ‘Malaysia Halal Industry’ by Manager, Aspire Flagship Sdn Bhd, Mohd Hanafi bin
Jamiat, ‘Entrepreneurship for the Youth’ by Dean, Faculty of Economic and Islamic Finance, UNISSA,
Dr Abdul Nasir bin Haji Abdul Rani and ‘Halalpreneurship’ by President, Malaysia Bumiputera Supplier
and Retailers Association (MYBURSA), Riswardi Fakirullah bin Abdul Razak.
Besides raising awareness on the local halal industry, the seminar also aims towards establishing a
business network between local and foreign entrepreneurs through collaboration facilitated by the
company.

Workshop on Animal Welfare and Slaughter

Centre for Lifelong Learning (C4L) with collaboration of Halalan Thayyiban Research Centre, Universiti
Islam Sultan Sharif Ali, UNISSA has organised 2-day workshop on Animal Welfare and Slaughter. Day 1
consist of theory learning which held at UNISSA and Day 2 consist of practical of slaughtering at Golden
Chick Abattoir Sendirian Berhad in Kampung Pangkalan Batu. First cohort was conducted on 6—7
August 2019 and second cohort was held on 15—16 August 2019. It is one of the efforts to raise
awareness and understanding on animal management and slaughtering among the general public. The
workshop had conducted in 2 cohort.
The workshop among others aimed to raise awareness on animal welfare before and during slaughtering,
apart from explaining the difference between halal pre-slaughtering and traditional as well as highlighting
the concept Thayyiban. At the workshop, the participants were taught on proper slaughtering method and
processing the meat in accordance to Islam.

Halal Product and Innovation

Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali through Halalan Thayyiban Research Centre (HTRC) has conducted
Halal Product and Innovation Workshop at Syndicate Room 6, Bridex Banquet Hall on 12 November
2019. The workshop was presented by Profesor Adjunct of HTRC, Profesor Dr Quamrul Hasan. The
workshop aimed to raise awareness of participants regarding halal product and its innovation in the halal
industry.

Civilisation” at Institute of Health Science,

Universiti Brunei Darussalam in conjunction

with Pharmacy Day on 25th September

2019.

4ᵗʰ International Halal Conference

Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) through the Halalan Thayyiban Research Center with
co-organiser the Academy of Contemporary Islamic Studies (ACIS), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM)
and Japan Society for Halal Science and Technology (JAHAS) with the support of Centre for Global
Initiatives, Osaka University, Japan, Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) and Halal
Development Corporation (HDC), Malaysia organized the 4th International Halal Conference 2019
(INHAC 2019) on 16-17 Syaaban 1440H, equivalent to April 22-23, 2019M, located at Osaka University
Nakanoshima Center, Osaka, Japan with themed “Enhancing Halal Sustainability”
INHAC 2019 is a platform for researchers, academics and industry alike to share their information,
research findings and experience in the halal industry. In addition, INHAC 2019 will also be the field of
discussion and exchange of information on halal research to strengthen existing policies, strategies and
plans to advance the global halal industry.
Present to officiate at the conference were the guest of honor, Mr. Hironori Harimoto, Senior Executive
Director of International Relations, Department of Civil and Cultural Affairs, Osaka Prefectural
Government. Also present were UNISSA Rector, Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal, Prof Dr Muhamad
Rahimi Osman as chair of INHAC 2019, Prof. Dr. Hisao Tomizawa, JAHAS President and Professor Dr
Eiichi Tamiya, a representative from Osaka University.
The UNISSA rector in his welcome speech expressed hope that the conference would serve as a
platform or opportunity for understanding issues related to the "Halalan Tayyiban" and scholarly
discussions in addressing these issues.
The two-day seminar was attended by 182 participants and filled with a parallel presentation from

presenters from several regional and international countries. In addition, a business forum was also
held where members of the panel consisted of academics and industry practitioners from Malaysia,
Brunei Darussalam and Japan.

The UNISSA rector also had the opportunity to visit the President of Osaka University, Prof Dr Nishio
Shojiro and meet with Osaka University executive officers to strengthen existing bilateral cooperation.
Osaka University and UNISSA signed a cooperation agreement (MoU) on October 16, 2017. Since
then, OU and UNISSA have exchanged students in halal science.

Anjuran Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian Masyarakat (LPPM), Universitas Pembangunan Panca
Budi, Medan, Indonesia yang diadakan di Garuda Plaza Hotel, Medan, Indonesia pada 29 - 30 April
2019.
Profesor Madya Dr Nurdeng Deuraseh sebagai pembentang membentangkan kertas kerja yang
bertajuk “Halalan Tayyiban Products in Al-Qur’an: The Conceptual Framework in Developing
Contemporary Halal Industrial Products for Global Reach” .
Juga menghantar kertas kerja “Business Excellence Practices in Brunei Darussalam Halal Industry”
hasil dari kajian Matching Grant UNISSA-USIM untuk diterbitkan di dalam buku prosiding konferensi.

Islam, Economy and Halal Industry 2019 on 30 July 2019 at Santika Hotel Malang, Indonesia.

Seminar Serantau Pengajian Tinggi Islam
ke-6 2019

Seminar Serantau Pengajian Tinggi Islam ke-6 (SeIPTI) 2019 diadakan dengan anjuran Universiti Islam
Sultan Sharif Ali dengan kerjasama Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), Universitas Darussalam
Gontor (UNIDA), Universiti Fatoni (FTU) dan Mindanao State University (MSU) pada 6 - 7 November
2019 bertempat di Dewan Auditorium UNISSA.

SeIPTI kali ini turut mengangkat tema 'Ke Arah Kecemerlangan Pengajian Tinggi Islam dalam Era
Revolusi Industri 4.0' yang turut menjadi perbincangan utama seminar ini.

Profesor Madya Dr Nurdeng Deuraseh tidak ketinggalan untuk membentangkan kertas kerja beliau
yang bertajuk “Peranan dan Sumbangan Malaysia dan Negara Brunei Darussalam dalam
Memperkasakan Sains Halal sebagai Ilmu Watan” .

3ʳᵈ Joint Symposium of Osaka University with
Brunei Higher Institutions

Osaka University (OU), Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Halalan Thayyiban Research Centre,
Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) and Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) held The 3ʳᵈ Joint
Symposium of Osaka University (OU) with Higher Institutions of Brunei Darussalam at the Lecture
Theatre 2, PAPRSB Institute of Health Sciences, UBD on 2 November 2019.

Following the success of the past symposia that took place at UBD and Osaka University, Japan on 21
February 2018 and 6 August 2018 respectively; the 3rd Symposium with the theme ‘Innovation in Science
and Technology’ is held to focus on the joint research conducted so far and also the way forward with the

outcome of the research. This symposium hopes to share findings and results of the collaboration as well
as to determine areas that has potential for collaboration.

The final scientific session of the joint symposium was on Halal Science and Technology
(HST) facilitated by Professor Dr. Quamrul Hasan from OU. Presenters from UNISSA, Hjh Norliza
Mahalle presented a talk on ‘An Attempt in Strengthening Food Safety and Halalness through Halal
Logistics System’; Pg. Dr Hjh Norkhairiah Pg Hj Hashim speaking on ‘Traditional Bruneian Sausage
(Belutak): A Research on Halalan Thayyiban Aspect’; and lastly Raihana Mohd Raffi, whose talk
focused on ‘Food Quality and Safety in Japan: Exploring Halalan Thayyiban Aspect’.

This symposium then proceeded with poster session, parallel discussion sessions and combined
presentation sessions. The symposium concluded with a discussion on the measure of success of the

collaboration between OU and Higher Educational
Institutions of Brunei Darussalam. Presented

Food Ingredients and Kenko-oriented Food in
Japan.

All sessions resulted in fruitful discussion and
with potential collaborative activities between the
Universities.

kolaborator dari Universiti Malaya (UM) dan Universiti Selangor (UNISEL) telah berjaya mengadakan
Seminar Antarabangsa Produk dan Perkhidmatan Halalan Thayyiban Ke-IV 2019 (SAPPHAT IV) 2019)
pada 11 – 12 Novermber 2019 di Dewan Bridex, Jerudong.

SAPPHAT IV 2019 kali ini membawa tema 'Meningkatkan Kelestarian Hab Halal Melalui Produk dan
Perkhidmatan Halalan' atau dalam Bahasa Inggerisnya ‘Enhancing Halal Hub Sustainability Through
Halalan Thayyiban Products and Services’.

Hadir bagi merasmikan majlis ialah Menteri Kementerian Tenaga (Tenaga dan Tenaga Manusia) dan
Perindistrian, Yang Berhormat Dato Paduka Dr Awang Haji Mat Suny bin Haji Mohd Hussein. Turut
hadir juga ialah YB Dato Seri Setia Haji Japar bin Haji Mat Dain @ Maidin, Timbalan Mufti Kerajaan
bagi menyampaikan pembentangan kertas perdana yang bertajuk ‘Meningkatkan Kelestarian Hab Halal:
Sumbangan Fatwa Mufti Kerajaan Negara Brunei Darussalam

Semasa seminar, Pengarah Pusat Penyelidikan Halalan Thayyiban, Profesor Madya Dr. Nurdeng
Deuraseh, membentangkan tajuk 'Potential Career and Professional Collaboration for Halal Education
Graduate for Future Well Being' semasa sesi Pembentangan Khas. Pembentangan diakhiri dengan
penyampaian sijil kepada para pembentang yang disempurnakan oleh Rektor UNISSA, Dr Haji Norarfan
bin Haji Zainal.

Ketika seminar ini juga, para ahli akademik, staf dan mahasiswa-mahasiswi PPHT telah megambil
peluang ikut serta membentang kertas kerja semasa seminar. Kertas kerja yang telah dibentangkan

Konferensi Antarabangsa Islam Borneo ke-12 (KAIB 12) telah
berlangsung pada 11 – 12 Disember 2019 di Pusat Persidangan
Antarabangsa, Berakas anjuran bersama Kolej Universiti
Perguruan Ugama Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) dengan kerjasama
Pusat Penyelidikan dan Pengembangan Islam Borneo, Universiti
Teknologi Mara Sarawak, Malaysia. Dikesempatan ini, Timbalan
Pengarah Pusat Penyelidikan Halalan Thayyiban, Pengiran Dr
Hajah Norkhairiah binti Pengiran Haji Hashim tidak membuang
peluang dengan ikut serta membentangkan kertas kerja beliau
yang bertajuk “Orientasi Gaya Hidup Halal: Potensi Lokal dan

Pada 18 Julai, rombongan dari Universitas Islam Malang (UNISMA) telah berkunjung ke Pusat
Penyelidikan Halalan Thayyiban. Ketika lawatan, beberapa pelajar dari UNISMA telah membentang
kajian mereka dihadapan warga PPHT.

Delegasi dari Kanada

Pada 31 Januari 2019, delegasi dari Kanada, John G. Keogh telah berkunjung ke Pusat Penyelidikan
Halalan Thayyiban dan menyampaikan ilmu pengetahuan mengenai Blockchain and Supply Chain
kepada warga PPHT dan pelajar latihan industri di PPHT.

Pelajar Mobiliti ke IPPH, UPM

Dari jemputan Institut Penyelidikan Produk
Halal (IPPH), Universiti Putra Malaysia
(UPM), seramai lima pelajar
pascasiswazah Pusat Penyelidikan
Halalan Thayyiban (PPHT), Universiti
Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) berlepas
ke Malaysia bagi menghadiri Program
Mobiliti Pascasiswazah (Outbound) di
IPPH, UPM, sebagai universiti
penyelidikan tersohor di Malaysia selama
14 hari bermula 30 September 2019.

Rombongan tersebut diketuai oleh pelajar
pascasiswazah, Nor Surilawana binti Haji
Sulaiman, yang juga merupakan Felo
Penyelidik di PPHT, UNISSA. Para pelajar
berkenaan terdiri daripada seorang pelajar
pascasiswazah daripada Program
Falsafah Kedoktoran Sains Halal
(Pengurusan Halal), dua orang pelajar
pascasiswazah daripada Program Sarjana
Sains Halal (Pengurusan Halal) dan dua
orang pelajar pascasiswazah daripada
Sarjana Sains Halal (Undang-undang
Halal).

Sehubungan itu, Majlis Doa Selamat telah
diadakan pada 28 September 2019 di
PPHT bagi meraikan pelajar pascasiswazah yang mengikuti program ini.

Hadir bagi mengucapkan selamat belayar kepada rombongan di Lapangan Terbang Antarabangsa Brunei ialah
Pengarah PPHT, Profesor Madya Dr Nurdeng Deuraseh.

Program Mobiliti Pascasiswazah ini merupakan program jaringan antara UNISSA dan UPM yang sedia terjalin
sejak beberapa tahun yang lalu. Antara aktiviti yang dilaksanakan adalah menghadiri kuliah umum oleh para
Pensyarah UPM dan yang dijemput
khas oleh IPPH, UPM dan
pembentangan oleh pelajar
pascasiswazah PPHT, melawat
makmal laboratory IPPH,
mengunjungi Perpustakaan di
UPM, melawat Nasyrah Quran di
Putrajaya serta jungle trekking di
Pusat Pendidikan Perhutanan
Sultan Idris Shah (SISFEC), UPM.
Di samping itu, pelajar juga
didedahkan dengan metod
penyelidikan yang bermutu tinggi.

Program mobiliti pelajar ini diharap
dapat membantu pelajar untuk
berfikir di luar kotak dalam
mempelajari budaya dan sejarah
masyarakat di Malaysia dengan
lebih dekat lagi, di samping
menimba ilmu pengetahuan dan
pengalaman.

HTRC is Choice of Student Mobility

The collaboration between UNISSA and foreign institutions of higher learning is a major factor UNISSA
becomes the choice of foreign students choosing UNISSA as a place to pursue their studies.
In accordance with the decree of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni
Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddied, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of
Brunei Darussalam in Hafl al-Takharruj Council to -5 UNISSA 2015:
“UNISSA has become an attraction to international students, especially from the Southeast Asian
region. UNISSA is chosen as a destination for Islamic and Arabic studies, whether it is a short or a long
program.”
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) and memorandum of agreement (MoA) with prestigious
institutions of higher learning and agencies have produced various programs and activities that have
been implemented between the two parties including student mobility programs, internship programs,
industrial training programs and exchange programs for external students country to UNISSA.
In 2019 only a few students from 3 universities have undergone this program at PPHT. Among them are
Academy of Contemporary Islamic Studies, University of Technology MARA, Osaka University, Japan,
and Institute of Brunei Technical Education.
The involvement of foreign students is expected to maintain good ties between UNISSA and overseas
institutions.

Osaka University

Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali dan Osaka
University, Jepun sedang giat bekerjasama
terutama sekali dalam bidang penyelidikan dan
akademik. Seorang pensyarah daripada Universiti
Islam Sultan Sharif Ali melalui Pusat Penyelidikan
Halalan Thayyiban iaitu Hajah Norliza binti Dato
Seri Setia Haji Mahalle telah berlepas ke Osaka
University, Jepun sebagai “Research Scholar”.
Beliau akan berada di Osaka University, Jepun
selama lebih kurang sebulan bermula 15
September 2019 sehingga 12 Oktober 2019.
Di Jepun, beliau telah menjalani latihan ilmiah dan
penyelidikan yang berkaitan dengan logistik halal.
Lawatan ilmiah ini dihasratkan akan dapat
memberikan pendedahan baru dan mendalami
bidang ini dengan mendapatkan maklumat
tambahan yang dapat diserapkan kepada para
pelajar melalui kuliah-kuliah berkenaan dengan
logistik halal.
Pada masa yang sama juga, beliau dijemput untuk
menyertai perbincangan mengenai program
kolaboratif akademik baru di antara UNISSA dan
Osaka University. Dengan adanya kerjasama yang
berterusan di antara UNISSA dan Osaka University ini diharap akan lebih banyak ruang lagi yang dapat
diteroka dan diperkembangkan bagi mempertingkatkan lagi kualiti pengajian sehingga mampu
menghasilkan penyelidikan yang bermutu sekaligus urus tadbir yang cemerlang.

Universiti Malaya

Pada 13 November 2019, rombongan dari
Universiti Malaya telah berkunjung ke
Pusat Penyelidikan Halalan Thayyiban
(PPHT). Kunjungan ini untuk
membincangkan kolaborasi bersama
antara PPHT dengan Universiti Malaya.
Hasilnya kedua-dua pihak ingin
menerbitkan satu Chapter in Book yang
penulisnya terdiri dari kedua-dua
universiti.

Visit to Laboratories

Halalan Thayyiban Research Centre (HTRC) academics and staffs had visited two laboratories that
related to halal verification. At first, HTRC had visited the Department of Scientific Science (DSS), Ministry
of Health. In here both HTRC academics and staffs learn the roles and responsibilities of DSS. Then,
HTRC visited laboratories at Integrated Science, Universiti Brunei Darussalam.
In both visits, both HTRC academics and staffs get to know type of machines and their functions in
research and verified the products.

Lawatan ke McBrumby Beverages Sdn Bhd

Pusat Penyelidikan Halalan Thayyiban (PPHT), UNISSA telah berkunjung ke McBrumby Beverages Sdn
Bhd iaitu syarikat pengeluaran air sulingan jenama ‘SUCI’ pada 8 Jamadilakhir 1440 bersamaan 13
Februari 2019. Rombongan diketuai oleh Pengarah PPHT, Profesor Madya Dr Nurdeng Deuraseh,
bersama ahli akademik PPHT, staf PPHT dan pelajar Sarjana Sains Halal serta 5 orang pelajar UiTM
yang sedang menjalani latihan industri di PPHT.
Lawatan ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui lebih lanjut mengenai cara-cara penghasilan air sulingan
(distilled water) dan amalan Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) dan Good Manufacturing
Process (GMP) untuk memastikan air yang dihasilkan sentiasa bersih dan thayyiban untuk diminum.
Dr Jeremy Tan Kai Teck, Managing Director, McBrumby Beverages Sdn Bhd, telah menyampaikan
sedikit sebanyak mengenai syarikat McBrumby, proses penyulingan air dan kepentingan air dalam
kehidupan seharian. Di samping itu, rombongan juga dibawa melawat kilang pemprosesan air dari awal
pemprosesannya hingga pembungkusan.

Program Peningkatan Kesedaran Halal

Pada 23 Jamadilakhir 1440 bersamaan
dengan 28 Februari 2019, ahli akademik
dan staf PPHT serta 5 pelajar UiTM yang
menjalani latihan industri di PPHT telah
menghadiri Program Peningkatan
Kesedaran Mengenai Halal anjuran
Bahagian Kawalan Makanan Halal, Jabatan
Hal Ehwal Syariah, Kementerian Hal Ehwal
Ugama yang diadakan di Bilik Mau’izzah,
Pusat Da’wah Islamiah.

Program ini memberikan penerangan
mengenai prinsip halal dari sudut halal,
hukum dan aspek kebersihan dan
keselamatan makanan dan produk selain
Makanan. Di samping itu, menerangkan
tanggungjawab individu sebagai pengguna.

Pelajar Siswazah Pusat Penyelidikan Halalan Thayyiban (PPHT), UNISSA telah berkunjung ke
Sahamada Corporation Sdn Bhd iaitu antara syarikat terawal di Brunei memproses sos cili botol.
Rombongan diketuai oleh Pensyarah PPHT, Dr Zeiad Amjad Abdulrazzak Aghwan.
Lawatan ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui lebih lanjut mengenai cara-cara penghasilan sos cili botol dan
amalan pengilangan yang baik untuk memastikan sos cili yang dihasilkan sentiasa bersih dan
thayyiban untuk diguna.

Lawatan ke
The Empire Hotel & Country Club

Kira-kira 18 orang pelajar lepasan ijazah Sains Halal dari Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA)
telah mengadakan lawatan akademik ke The Empire Hotel & Country Club, Jerudong.
Lawatan yang diketuai oleh Ketua Program Lepasan Ijazah di Pusat Penyelidikan Halalan Thayyiban, Dr
Zeiad Amjad Abdulrazzak Aghwan itu berobjektif untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan latar belakang
pelajar serta meneroka lebih lanjut mengenai aktiviti dan keperluan pematuhan syariah hotel di bawah
perkhidmatan Pelancongan Halal.
Menurut kenyataan yang diberikan, semasa lawatan itu, para pelajar juga melihat lebih dekat
perkhidmatan-perkhidmatan berkualiti tinggi yang diberikan oleh pengurusan dan kakitangan hotel
berkenaan kepada pelanggan bagi mengekalkan kesucian Islam.
Selain itu, para pelajar juga melihat jumlah besar pelancong menginap di hotel berkenaan yang
menunjukkan perkembangan pelancongan halal di negara ini.

Lawatan Akademik dan Jaringan
ke Arab Saudi

Rombongan seramai 18 orang terdiri daripada pensyarah, kakitangan serta mahasiswa dan mahasiswi
Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) melalui Pusat Penyelidikan Halalan Thayyiban (PPHT)
telah berlepas ke Arab Saudi pada 22hb Oktober 2019 bagi mengikuti program lawatan akademik dan
jaringan selama 10 hari.

Hadir mengucapkan selamat belayar kepada rombongan yang diketuai oleh Pensyarah PPHT selaku
Ketua Program Pengajian Siswazah, Dr Zeiad Amjad Abdulrazzak di Lapangan Terbang
Antarabangsa Brunei ialah Pengarah PPHT, Profesor Madya Dr Nurdeng Deuraseh dan Timbalan
Pengarah PPHT, Pengiran Dr Hajah Norkhairiah binti Pengiran Haji Hashim.

Program lawatan ini merupakan usaha PPHT dalam mewujudkan hubungan jaringan antara UNISSA
dengan universiti-universiti di Arab Saudi khususnya Universiti Umm Al-Qura dan Universiti Islam
Madinah.

Lawatan Sambil Belajar di Daerah
Temburong

Pelajar siswazah Pusat Penyelidikan Halalan Thayyiban telah berangkat ke Daerah Temburong pada
10 November 2019, Ahad, bagi lawatan akademik. Rombongan diiringi oleh Pengarah Pusat
Penyelidikan Halalan Thayyiban, Profesor Madya Dr Nurdeng Deuraseh, Dr Zeiad Amjad Abdulrazzak
Aghwan dan Nor Surilawana Hj Sulaiman.
Ketika di Kampung Puni. rommbongan telah disambut oleh Pemangku Ketua Kampung Puni dan Ujung
Jalan, Awg Haji Abdul Rahman bin Merusin dan ahli-ahli MPK Puni. Ketika di sini, rombongan telah
didedahklan cara-cara pembuatan telur masin.
Seterusnya, rombongan berkunjung ke Pusat Pemprosesan Ambulong di Batu Apoi. Di sini para
rombongan berpeluang melihat secara lamgsung pemprosesan ambulong oleh ahli-ahli MPK Batu
Apoi.

Perutusan & Motivasi PPHT

Acara ini dianjurkan oleh Pusat Penyelidikan Halalan Thayyiban (PPHT) pada 8 Jamadilawal 1440
bersamaan dengan 14 Januari 2019 dengan tujuan untuk menyampaikan perutusan dari Pengarah
PPHT, Profesor Madya Dr Nurdeng Deuraseh, di samping memberikan motivasi kepada para
mahasiswa dan mahasiswi PPHT supaya lebih bersemangat dan bermotivasi untuk menghadiri kursus-
kursus di Semester 2, Sesi 2018/2019 ini. Acara diakhiri dengan sesi begambar ramai.

JASSO Programme

This JASSO program is an SDG
co-creation student exchange
program, an interactive student
exchange program hosted by Osaka
University. Participants of the program
will be exposed to research visits to
local companies and non-profit halal
bodies (NPOs) such as the Japan
Halal Association and Nippon Express
around Osaka and Tokyo, Japan. The
program is expected to enhance the
quality of students' education so that
they can produce high quality research
and study the culture and history of
Japan more closely and gain
knowledge and experience.

A Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University

graduate student (UNISSA) through the Thayyiban Election Research Center, has left for Japan to

attend the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) program at Osaka University. Students

pursuing the Masters of Halal Science (Halal Law) program, Dayang Nurhamizah bint Ibrahim, will be

at Osaka University, Japan from October 1, 2019 until December 18, 2019.

Riadah Halalan Thayyiban

Pusat Penyelidikan Halalan Thayyiban (PPHT) melalui Halalan Thayyiban Student Society (HTSS)
pada 22 Rejab 1440 bersamaan 29 Mac 2019 telah mengadakan aktiviti riadah dengan membaa tema
“Riadah Halalan Thayyiban” bertempat di Taman Peranginan Tasek Lama.
Hadir selaku tetamu kehormat majlis, Prof. Madya Dr Nurdeng Deuraseh, Pengarah PPHT, UNISSA
Seramai 30 orang pelajar yang mengikut program halal science di PPHT turut serta dalam aktiviti
tersebut termasuk pensyarah-pensyarah serta pegawai-pegawai PPHT.
Aktiviti dimulakan dengan bacaan surah al-Fatihah yang diketuai oleh Mohammad Hadisaifullah bin
Abdul Rahim, Rais Unit Keugamaan dan Kerohanian HTSS. Kemudian diteruskan lagi dengan ucapan
alu-aluan dari Yang Mulia Profesor Madya Dr Nurdeng selaku penganjur dan disambung dengan
senamrobik yang diketuai oleh Awangku Mohammad Nur Ajrun’azhim bin Pengiran Julkifli, Rais Unit
Kebajikan dan Kemasyarakatan HTSS.
Antara aktiviti yang diadakan pada hari tersebut adalah mendaki Bukit Sarang Helang. Semasa
mendaki bukit, terdapat permainan yang sedang dijalankan iaitu Searching For Thayyibat Products for
the sake of Allah, iaitu satu aktiviti di mana para peserta diarahkan untuk mencari produk thayyibat dan
dikehendaki menerangkan tentang keberadaan produk yang mereka perolehi dan bagaimana mereka
memperolehinya.
Melalui aktiviti-aktiviti yang dijalankan, Pengarah PPHT memberikan sedikit nasihat kepada peserta
bahawa sebagai manusia boleh membuat sesuatu benda tanpa pengetahuan orang ramai kecuali
Allah, kerana Allah itu Maha Melihat lagi Maha Mengetahui. Para peserta juga diingatkan agar harus
berhati-hati dalam menyampaikan apa jua jenis berita kerana ditakuti tersebarnya berita-berita yang
tidak sahih yang boleh menimbulkan fitnah.
Antara tujuan aktiviti ini adalah untuk mengamalkan cara hidup yang sihat di samping mengukuhkan
silaturrahim di antara pensyarah dan kakitangan PPHT dengan mahasiswa-mahasiswi PPHT.

Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif
Ali (UNISSA) through the
Halalan Thayyiban Research
Center (HTRC) for the first
time conducted a Leadership
Workshop for its’ student
associations on September
28, 2019.

The workshop was
co-facilitated by the Director
of HTRC, Associate Profes-
sor Dr Nurdeng Deuraseh
and fellow researcher, Rai-
hana Mohd Raffi. About 10
members of the Halalan
Thayyiban Student Society

attended the Leadership Workshop titled 'Wisdom Leadership'.

The main objective of the program was to understand the current role and challenges and responsibilities
of being a leader in student leadership. This program enables students to cultivate a sense of integrity,
team spirit and work culture. It is hoped that with this program, students will be able to adopt a creative
and dynamic teamwork culture that can help them solve the problems.

Karnival Bahasa Arab

Pelajar Pusat Penyelidikan Halalan Thayyiban telah ikut serta pameran sempena Karnival Bahasa Arab
anjuran Fakulti Bahasa Arab, Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali, Kolej Universiti Perguruan Ugama Seri
Begawan dan Rabitah Antarabangsa Alumni Al-Azhar (Brunei) yang bertemakan “Bahasa Zikir di Negara
Zikir” .

Higher Education Expo 2019

Berlangsung di Dewan Bridex selama dua hari. Kurang lebih 140 orang mengunjungi booth PPHT dengan
tujuan untuk mengetahui lebih lanjut mengenai PPHT, dan kriteria kemasukan.

"Evolution of the Halal

discussion, each has their role
in developing the halal
industry especially in Brunei.

Thai Curry Food Testing

Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) through Halalan Thayyiban Research Centre (HTRC) has
hosted the Thai Curry Food Tasting on 5 - 6 August 2019 at the UNISSA Café which run by researchers
from Prince of Songkla University (PSU) for their post-research test on Thai Curry celebration in Brunei
Darussalam.

the aim of providing exposure to members of the entrepreneurial unit to venture into the field of

on October 2, 2019.

Jerayawara ke Sekolah-Sekolah

Pada 19 dan 20
November 2019, Pusat
Penyelidikan Halalan
Thayyiban (PPHT) telah
membuat jerayawara ke
sekolah-sekolah dengan
tujuan mengenalkan dan
mendedahkan PPHT
kepada para pelajar. Di
samping mengenalkan
PPHT, jerayawara ini
bertujuan mendedahkan
kepada pelajar program-
program yang
ditawarkan oleh
PPHT.Antara sekolah yang dikunjungi adalah Pusat Tingkatan Enam Sengkurong, Pusat Tingkatan Enam
Tutong dan Mahad Islam Brunei.

Brunei Halal Showcase (BruHAS) 2019

Kementerian Tenaga (Tenaga dan Tenaga Manusia) dan Perindustrian (MEMI) dengan kerjasama
Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) mengadakan Brunei Halal Showcase 2019 (BruHAS 2019)
dengan sokongan rakan strategiknya dan pihak berkepentingan yang berkaitan, termasuk Kementerian
Hal Ehwal Ugama (MORA); Darussalam Enterprise (DARe); dan Laksamana College of Business (LC).
BruHAS 2019 berlangsung selama lima hari iaitu bermula dari 11 hingga 15 November 2019, di Dewan
BRIDEX, Jerudong.
BruHAS merupakan acara tahunan anjuran bersama MEMI dan UNISSA, yang merupakan sebahagian
daripada usaha kolaboratif dalam memberikan kesedaran kepada perkembangan industri halal juga
sumbangannya kepada ekonomi negara.
Oleh itu, Pusat Penyelidikan Halalan Thayyiban (PPHT) tidak membuang peluang untuk ikut serta dalam
ekspo ini dengan tujuan untuk mendedahkan kepada masyarakat dan orang ramai mengenai PPHT
secara amnya, dan sekaligus memperkenalkan program-program dan kursus-kursus yang ditawarkan
oleh PPHT.

Borneo International Halal Showcase ke-2

Pada 11 Disember 2019, Pusat Penyelidikan Halalan Thayyiban (PPHT), UNISSA tidak ketinggalan
dalam menyertai 2nd Borneo International Halal Showcase (BIHAS ke-2) di Pusat Persidangan
Antarabangsa, Berakas, Negara Brunei Darussalam anjuran bersama Kolej Universiti Perguruan Ugama
Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) dengan kerjasama Pusat Penyelidikan dan Pengembangan Islam Borneo,

Universiti Teknologi Mara Sarawak,
Malaysia. Tujuannya penyertaan
ekspo ini adalah untuk
mendedahkan kepada orang ramai
mengenai Pusat Penyelidikan
Halalan Thayyiban, kursus-kursus
atau program-program yang
ditawarkan oleh PPHT dan
penyelidikan yang telah dibuat oleh
PPHT.
