Frequently Asked Questions

? What is Title I?
A Title I is a law which makes schools
that have economic disadvantages
eligible to receive funding.

? How do I know if my child is Title I?
A Since SES is a schoolwide Title I
school, every child, K-5th, is a Title I
child. If you would like to know if your
child is receiving intervention, please
contact Mrs. Dailey.

? What can I do to help my child?
A The number one thing our Reading
Specialist recommends is a shared
reading time with your child. A few
minutes a day makes a huge difference!

? Why do I have to fill out so much
paperwork?

A Title I is governed by a strict set of
laws which require the school to
document everything we do. If you do
not fill out all the paperwork, we could
lose some of our funding.

? Why does my child have to take so many
tests?

A We have worked hard to reduce the
amount of testing we do at SES. Please
ask us which tests your child will take
this year!

Reading is a Journey

a walking journey through a
beloved story.

Local Book Fair

SES usually hosts a Scholastic book fair in
the spring. If funding is available, we will
provide free books for each

child!

Dr. Seuss Days

Here at SES, we LOVE Dr. Seuss!
We will celebrate his birthday in
style with lots of fun, interactive
activities!

Remake Learning Days

STEM is a priority here, and we love to
expose our students to new ideas. These
events are part of a Regional initiative to

promote student
engagement with STEM.

Title I Staff

➢ Reading Specialist

The Title I Reading Specialist works with small
groups of students and collaborates with
teachers in the whole class setting. She also
collects and analyzes data from our various
assessments to better plan schoolwide
instruction and intervention. Mrs. Dailey is our
Reading specialist.

➢ Academic Coach

. An Academic Coach works with teachers to
plan and implement effective lessons across the
curriculum. She also works with the teachers to
help them collect, organize, and analyze the
data from our various assessments. Mrs. Meck
will be our Academic Coach.

➢ Professional Service Personnel

Classroom helpers, called PSP’s, are working
several days within the classes. The PSP’s are
retired teachers who come back to help students
who need extra attention.

Title I & Funding
▪ Title I is short for Title I, Part A of
the Elementary and Secondary
Education Act of 1965, which was
Reauthorized by the No Child Left
Behind Act of 2001.
▪ Our school is a “schoolwide” Title I
school. Schoolwide = every child.

▪ As a parent, you have certain rights
involving your child’s education. Please
look at the links provided. Knowing
your rights will help you help your
child!

If you have more questions, please
contact me at school!
