With electronic devices getting more complex, the hand tools used for
repairing and fixing them as well as for troubleshooting are also evolving
by incorporating newer technologies. These hand tools have not only
become sophisticated but also smarter. Using the right tool for a
particular task ensures that the job gets done faster and more easily. The
right choice of tool usually also improves the quality of the finished
product.

1.1 Screwdrivers

Screwdrivers are hand tools specifically designed to insert and tighten, or to loosen and remove
screws. A screwdriver comprises a head or tip, which engages with a screw; a mechanism to
apply force by rotating the tip and some way to position and support the screwdriver, the tip of
which is shaped to fit a particular type of screw.

1. Flat/Slotted Screwdriver

A Flat/Slotted Screwdriver is a tool used to apply torque to screws using a flat tip. This type
of tool is designed to fit into slotted screw heads, which feature a single diverted flat
impression on top of the screw.

2. Phillips Screwdriver

It is used to drive or fasten positive slotted screws. It is a screwdriver that could take greater
torque and could provide tighter fastening. Phillips head screwdriver features a cross-
shaped head that slots into similarly shaped screw head.
3. Torx Screwdriver

Torx drives were originally used for security functions, but they’ve since become popular in
commercial fields. The blades of these drives resemble a rounded off star or flower and
provide incredibly high torque tolerances.
4. Precision Screwdriver

Used primarily for work on small, intricate devices, a precision screwdriver is a hand tool with a
similar intended use as a standard screwdriver but possessing a smaller form factor and a sleeker
handle design.
1.2 Splicing Tools
Splicing Tools are usually tools for stripping the insulation of wires are different types. Some are
follows:

1. Long Nose

Sources: https://en.wikipedia.org/

https://images.app.goo.gl/eAHJJZWn7P2FZCUk8

It is used for holding, bending and stretching the lead of an electronic component or connecting
wire.
2. Side Cutter

Sources: https://www.rowleycompany.com/

https://images.app.goo.gl/aWwLyAY8phQgmnt47

It is a wire-cutting pliers, though they are not used to grab or turn anything, but are used to cut
wies
3. Wire Stripper

Sources: https://www.indiamart.com/

https://images.app.goo.gl/WknyBAgJenhQxLdC9

It is used to strip off the wire insulator from its conductor before it is used to connect to another
wire or soldered into the PCB. Some wire strippers or cutters have a measurement engraved on
them to indicate the length that will be stripped.
1.3 Cutting Tools
Cutting Tools are usually tools for cutting or trimming various materials. Some are follows:
