benefits for its maritime and core-business users.
It is an easy drive-to and fly-to destination for cruise
passengers, who also benefit from the ability to combine
a sea vacation with a land vacation at nearby Orlando’s
globally renowned theme parks and other popular Central
Florida attractions.
It offers an efficient central gateway to major Florida and

Port Canaveral is one of the few seaports in Florida that
has land open and available for development. With land
resources in short supply, the Port Authority is developing
an optimized long-term land-use plan to look at how its
limited space should be allocated and ensure that its use

BROADER MARKET COVERAGE
The central location of Port Canaveral puts it within three
hours of every major Florida market. This critical advantage
brings the 20-million-plus residents of the nation’s second-
fastest-growing state within easy reach. An even larger market
— 81 million consumers — is accessible within eight hours
due to the Port’s proximity to major road and rail systems.
FAST TRANSIT AND EASY NAVIGATION
The Port’s man-made harbor, with an average width of 500
feet, offers direct access to the Atlantic Ocean and a transit
time from first buoy to dock of only 45 minutes. A multi-year
deepening project has achieved an outer harbor depth of – 46
feet and is bringing the depth in the inner harbor to – 43 feet.
We currently are studying the feasibility of further deepening
to minus 47 or 48 feet to accommodate larger cargo vessels
in the future.

DINING AND NIGHT LIFE
Restaurants located at the Port offer dining choices from
snacks to full-course dinners. Fresh seafood is a specialty
and outdoor dining a popular experience. Waterfront
restaurants and entertainment choices are concentrated
in The Cove, a special district on the south side of the
channel serving local customers, visitors and port-of-call
cruise passengers.
SPECIAL EVENTS
Throughout the year, the Port is a venue for special family
events, from street festivals and parties to celebrate new
ship arrivals to fireworks displays and boat races. The Port
also offers good locations — including the Exploration
Tower — from which the public can observe spacecraft
launches from nearby Kennedy Space Center plus year-
round views of a parade of amazing cruise ships.

One of the most exciting recent events at Port Canaveral courtesy Florida Today
was the historic return into port of SpaceX’s Canaveral-
based drone ship, Of Course I Still Love You, carrying the RUAG SPACE USA
first orbital-class booster ever to be successfully landed for
reuse. In 2017, the private space launch company sent up
the first successfully reused refurbished rocket and it, too,
was returned via drone ship to Port Canaveral.
With a diverse customer base and accelerating launch
schedule, SpaceX wanted space as close as possible to their
drone landing location to establish a facility for processing
and refurbishing the reclaimed Falcon 9s. They leased a
53,360-square-foot building at the Port, formerly used by
Spacehab. They have since added 2.17 adjacent acres, on
which they plan to build a 67,000-square-foot hanger to
expand operations.
Satellite manufacturer RUAG Space USA became the first
tenant in the Port Canaveral Logistics Center at Titusville,
investing $600,000 in construction and $2 million in cutting-
edge manufacturing equipment in its 23,800-square-foot
manufacturing facility. RUAG will supply satellite structures
and other hardware components to OneWeb, a company
that plans to assemble 900 low-cost, low-orbit satellites
designed to make fast-speed broadband internet available
around the globe.
