HOW TO STOP
WORRYING AND

START LIVING

“How to Stop Worrying and Start Living” is a book about ways to overcome
our everyday worries. It deals with fundamental emotions in our everyday
lives, such as worry and anxiety. This book provides various methods and
principles to overcome and conquer our feelings of concern. Even though
this book was first published over 70 years ago, all of its applications and
principles still apply to us today.

The author of this book, Dale Carnegie, was an American writer and
lecturer, who also developed courses in self-improvement, salesmanship,
corporate training, public speaking, and interpersonal skills. After studying
the feeling of worry for many years and experimenting on his public
speaking course attendees, he gathered and simplified all the information
into this book.

Almost everyone in the entire world is consumed by worry and the concern
for uncertainty, especially now due to current predicaments. Well, by
reading this book and applying its principles in our everyday life, we will
eliminate any feelings of doubt and worry in our lives. Personally, this book
has really helped me in conquering my anxiety and doubt in my life.

NATURE'S
MEDICINE

RESENSI BUKU

"Nature's Medicine" is a guide book that describes various herbal medicines
and what they can do for us. This book describes the properties of 184 plants
and herbs which are arranged neatly in alphabetical order. This book also
depicts herbal treatments for the common day-to-day diseases that we face
throughout our lifetime, such as flu, fever, malaria, skin problems, and various
other diseases.
Other than that, this book also specifies the methods to prepare our own
herbal medicines from our home-grown herbs and plants. Furthermore, this
book also has coloured illustrations and in-depth information about each
plant and its medical uses.
This book has really opened my eyes to the countless benefits of herbal
medicines. We live in a day and age where artificial medicine is widely used in
the medical field whereas herbal medicines get pushed aside, even though
herbal medicines have an equal, if not more benefits compared to artificial
medicines. Well, by reading this book, you can gain information on the
importance of herbal medicines and its endless benefits to our society.

DIGITAL
BOOK

https://www.planetebook.
com/free-ebooks/1984.pdf

“1984” is a dystopian social science fiction novel written by the English
novelist George Orwell and was published on 8 June 1949. It tells the story of
an imagined future in the year 1984, where the world has fallen apart due to
perpetual war and scarcity of resources. Airstrip One. which is located in
Great Britain, is under the control of a totalitarian government named
Oceania.

The freedom of the people are stripped away from them as they are forced to
be exposed to propaganda and historical negationism, and are brutally
tortured or killed if they just have a rebellious thought in their minds. With
surveillance cameras and hidden microphones all over the place, the idea of
privacy has gone extinct.

This book portrays the effect of an all-powerful tyrannical authority on the
public, our lifestyles, and our surroundings. It also touches on the mental
and physical capability of an individual to withstand torture and forced
brainwashing before they eventually give in. In my opinion, this book is a
masterpiece and it really demonstrates many aspects of our current day-to-
day life.

WORLD
HISTORY

RESENSI BUKU

I know, at first glance, picking a history book as one of your favourite
books might seem quite odd, but “World History” is a really interesting
book and has taught me a lot of things about Earth’s history that I
would’ve never known if I had not read this book. This book provides a
detailed look at each aspect of our world’s history.
It is divided into two sections, which are ancient history and modern
history. Its content spans from the origins of mankind around 22
million years ago, all the way to the streamlining of the European
Union in 2009.
I have gained a ton of information about early civilizations and
empires, various gods and cultures, epic battles, major events, and the
people who built this world. I really appreciate the simplicity of the
book which compresses thousands of years of history into a 500-page
book.

Ability To Fly

Beneath the glaring sun, I travel, Thus, I resume this endless odyssey,

Down the path, the yellow brick road, Pursuing dreams of happiness and victory.

Gazing down its endless channel. When the titan that is failure is met once
again,
What lies ahead, provokes one to hesitate,
But I shall push forward, for this is one’s I endure and persist, though my battle is in
fate. vain,

Yet, one’s ability to fly will still remain.

As I gaze upon the cloudless blue sky,
Sprouting wings, I begin to fly,
With fortune and success within one’s reach.
Yet, one is faced with an impenetrable wall,
So, like Icarus, I begin to fall.

Nevertheless, I do not drown,

With the urge to surrender dragging me
down.

But be one traveler, I persevere,

For I was told, by folks and by strangers,

That to err and to fall is a part of human
nature.

CONSEQUENCES

“Wake up, Alicia”

The robotic tone of my alarm wakes me up, as it does every day. However today was no ordinary day, it
was my birthday! I jumped off my bed and sprinted down the stairs expecting to see my father standing
there with open arms. A wave of disappointment flashed over me. It was only my grumpy old grandfather
sitting on his couch. I greeted him, and he did not say a word. I proceeded to head to the kitchen to make
breakfast. I took the hard block with the words ‘toast bread’ written on it and put it into the hydration
machine. A few seconds later, out came a freshly made toast bread. I then turned on the news while eating
my breakfast.

“Happy Independence Day to all Malaysian citizens around the world. Today marks the 1000th
anniversary of the Malaysian Independence day which took place on the 31st of August 1957.”

I still remember when I was labeled as the ‘daughter of Malaysia’ by my friends. I also like to feel the
huge parade that has been an ancient tradition every Independence Day is meant for me. My late mother
also used to stitch a dress by using the Malaysian flag every year on my birthday. It was a very unusual
tradition because no one else did it, but I liked it a lot. A drop of tear flowed down my cheeks as I started
to think about my mother, who passed away 5 years ago. I don’t actually remember what her job was as
everyone seems to deny her existence. If only I could have stopped her from going to Spain during the
nuclear warfare. I don’t care if 2 billion people died, why did she have to be one of them? The entire
continent of Europe and half of Asia has become a nuclear wasteland.

The increase in climate change has also affected the Earth by drastically increasing its temperature. The
dangerous ultraviolet rays from the sun have caused many people to die from skin cancer and
unfortunately, my grandmother was one of them. Ever since she bit the dust, my grandfather has never
been the same. If only I had a time machine to stop the people from causing climate change. Thankfully,
scientists have managed to make Mars a habitable planet. It’s hard to imagine that 500 years ago Mars
was just a cold red planet, but now it is a green paradise. My family will be leaving to Mars next week.
However, my grandfather contradicts our decision. There was a huge argument between him and my
father two days ago which caused them to not say a word to each other till this day.

”Alicia, come here.” My grandfather interrupted my flashback.

“Can you please go buy some natural flowers?” He said with a wide smile on his face.

PENCAPAIAN KHAS

“Why do you want flowers, grandpa?” I asked with a puzzled look on my face. There was no response.
Natural flowers are quite rare and can’t be bought online. I need to go to the florist shop.

“Maybe some fresh air would help me cool my mind.” I thought to myself.

So, I took my companion bot and left. I decided to walk and not take the advanced tubing system or the
jetpack to get some real fresh air. As I was walking, I started some small talk with my cute little
companion bot, Wall-E. My mother named it Wall-E based on a very old movie. I stuck out like a sore
thumb because I was the only one walking while everyone else slid above me in their tubes. I even got
some weird looks. Sometimes, I wonder how people in the ancient times got from one place to another.

“Did all of them just walk? Did they use wheels? How did people hundreds of years ago travel?” I
whispered to myself.

“They mainly used cars, buses and motorcycles which run on fossil fuels namely petrol.” Wall-E
answered with his cute robotic voice.

‘Beep….Beep.’ My in-built health indicator started to vibrate indicating that it is already brunch and I
have to eat a bowl of cereal to maintain a healthy diet. I asked Wall-E about how the ancient people knew
what to eat to stay healthy.

“They were advised to refer to the food pyramid but most of them chose not to. They were free to eat
anything they could afford.” Wall-E replied.

“Wow! They were free to make their own choices. People nowadays are restricted with in-built
indicators that control our every move. What would people in the past think if they saw the current
condition of humans with robots dominating our daily life?” I thought to myself.

‘Bzzzz….Bzzzz.’ The in-built communicator on my wrist started vibrating. It was my father contacting
me. I didn’t answer the call as I was still angry at him for leaving me earlier today. I continued my
journey to the florist shop, bought the flowers and headed home. When I reached home, I noticed that
there were several police droids around my house. I ran in praying that my assumptions were wrong. My
heart sank when I saw my grandfather laying on his couch with his throat slit open and a knife in his
hand. I dropped down on my knees while tears flowed down my cheeks. I noticed a small note in his
pocket. I grabbed it even though the police droids tried to stop me. I opened the note and a projection of
his face appeared.

“I am sorry, but I am not ready to leave. I was born on Earth and I intend to die on Earth. The
consequences of what people did in the past affects us today. If only it could have been stopped. If only.”
His words pierced my heart.

“What’s the point of freedom if you can’t look after your home!” My mind screamed to the people of the
past. “Why didn’t you think about the consequences?”

MADNESS

‘Bang!’ A bullet shot by a tall dark figure pierces my heart. I wake up from that dream
with my fist clenched and my face as pale as death. That same nightmare has been
haunting me for the past week. I decide to just brush it off and go about my day. I am the
assistant to Mr. Cowell, who is a detective in Neo City. Since this city is like hell on earth
with crimes flooding the streets day and night, we are always busy with our jobs. We are
currently investigating a serial killer case which has involved around a dozen murders in
the course of a month. The serial killer has been sending letters to newspaper companies
and even to our offices. One odd thing that we noticed from the letters is that the killer
always references ‘The Joker’, a villain from the Batman comics, and each letter comes
with a Joker playing card covered in the blood of the victims.

As I am getting ready for work, I get a call from the police commissioner of Neo City. He
told me that the police department caught the serial killer and multiple witnesses
confirmed it. As I cannot hold back my curiosity, I ask who that heartless murderer was.
“John Cowell” he said. I gasp in utter shock and denial. I immediately hang up the call
and drive to the police station. My mind starts racing about the possibilities of Mr.
Cowell being the killer. Working with him for over a decade has made me know
everything about him. Even his family and children are close to me. “How could it have
been him!” Immediately upon arriving at the police station, I request to meet Mr. Cowell.

“It wasn’t me. It was Rick.” Mr. Cowell says to me as soon as he saw me.

“Do you mean Rick Cowell, your brother?” I reply with a look of confusion on my face.

“Yes, I tried telling the police commissioner but he would not believe me.” As soon as he
said that the policemen took him away.

Rick Cowell is Mr. Cowell’s identical twin brother. I don’t know much about Rick
Cowell even though he is Mr. Cowell’s twin, but they did not get along well anyways.
Nevertheless, I sit at my computer and try to get as much information about Rick Cowell

PENCAPAIAN KHAS

as I can. Rick Cowell is a doctor at a local hospital and has a residence at the edge of
town. I arrive at the residence to find a note with an address pasted on the door. I
immediately drive to the address, which is another house. I inquire the neighbours about
the house and they tell me that it belongs to John Cowell, but they rarely see him there.

“I didn’t know Mr. Cowell had another residence.” I think to myself.

Just before entering the house, I get a phone call from the commissioner saying that Mr.
Cowell escaped from the police station about an hour ago. I consider leaving to go find
him, but I wanted to check the house first.

As I open the door, an awful smell attacks my nostrils and makes my eyes tear up. The
house is covered in dust with rotten food and stacks of comic books all over the place. I
enter a room which seems to be the source of that horrendous smell. A body. Rotten and
covered in maggots which indicates that it has been here for a long time. I flash my light
at its face. “Mr. Cowell. No, it can’t be.” I say as I stumble back in shock. Suddenly, I
hear the front door open. I head to the door to see who it was. Mr. Cowell was standing
there still in his prison uniform and pointing a gun at me.

“Rick was my first victim actually, but the police never found him.” He says to me with
an unusually wide smile on his face.

“I really love comic books since I was a kid, as you can see.” He says while he waves his
hands to all the comic books on the floor.

“Well, I guess its time to end this.” He proceeds to clock his gun.

I close my eyes in terror as my horrible nightmare lingers in my mind with the fear that it
might become true.

‘Bang!” I hear a gunshot and my heart stops. I open my eyes to see that Mr. Cowell shot
himself in the head and is laying on the ground. I fall to knees as my brain turns to mush
due to all the emotions and thoughts in my head. The police arrived a while later and
secured the area.

Mr. Cowell was a great man with a wonderful family. What could have caused him to do
this? What could have caused him to turn? Maybe the madness in his mind was finally let
loose. Maybe this was his true self. I only wish I had the chance to ask him ‘why?’

WORTH DYING FOR

“Good morning ladies and gentlemen, it is currently the 31st August 2296 down on Earth. We
will be landing at Malaysia Interplanetary Station in exactly 5 minutes. Please take your seats
and fasten your seat belts. Thank you. Mono above all.” says a calm robotic voice.

My eyes opened wide as I jumped from my seat in pure instinct. After reorienting myself and
coming to terms with what was going on, I realized that I dozed off for a bit. The only thing that
kept on echoing in my head was the phrase “Mono above all”. We are legally obliged to say that
phrase after giving an announcement or speech. Its not like the phrase is inaccurate, the company
‘Mono’ controls everything, from the law and transportation systems down to the food we eat
and clothes we wear. Their mission is to make everyone equal and balanced, or to quote Mono’s
founder, “variety only leads to catastrophe”. Despite their overwhelming dominance towards
society back on Mars, their influence has not truly been spread throughout Earth.

Earth. This was my first-time visiting the blue planet. I’ve always wanted to visit Earth but my
family could never afford the tickets since they cost an arm and a leg. I don’t really know much
about Earth and its people since we are not taught about it in our schools, due to Mono’s
leverage over the education system. The reason me and my family are visiting Earth in the first
place is to celebrate my grandfather’s 300th birthday. I can’t comprehend that he has lived for
300 years seeing that the generations prior to his could only live up to around 90 years old. I
guess he was just lucky to be born when the medical field was having a drastic evolution. I’ve
never even met my grandfather before; I’ve only seen pictures of him.

When we finally arrived, we were greeted by a young lady.

“Hello, I am Nora. I am Mr. Chan’s personal assistant. I will be assisting you throughout your
stay in Malaysia.” She said in an appeasing tone with a beaming smile on her face. She then
brought us to a hover car, and we flew off.

During the ride to my grandfather’s house, I had my face glued to the window in pure
amazement as I saw the streets filled with Malaysian flags and colourful decorations. I had never
seen anything like it before in my life. Nora pointed out that it was Malaysia’s Independence
Day today, hence all the decorations. I also noticed that each building or structure had its own
unique architecture and they were all randomly placed. It looked very messy and unorganized

PENCAPAIAN KHAS

but in a beautiful way. The variety of shapes and objects, lengths and widths, colours and
materials, all unite in one harmonious image. On Mars, the entire landscape looks tiresome and
extremely minimalistic.

After a while, we finally arrived at my grandfather’s residence. There he was. I noticed that half
of his body was replaced with robotic parts. My parents had told me that he served this country
in the Great War, but I didn’t know about his cyborg-like appearance. Although being 300 years
old, he was still in the pink of health.

“Welcome to Malaysia!” He said with a proud look on his face. After we introduced ourselves
and wished him, he started showing us around his residential area.

One thing that I found quite interesting was the diversity of the residents. They consisted of
people from different races, religions and believes. Each one of their faces told a distinctive
story. They were all different. They were all unique. It truly symbolised the charm of this
country. I felt a small sense of pride knowing that I also have this country’s blood running in my
veins. However, if I am being completely honest, I’ve never really known the purpose of
countries and why some people, including my grandfather, are willing to lay down their life for
it.

“Grandpa, why do you sacrifice so much for your country?” I asked while being consumed by
curiosity. Before I could get a response from him, out of the blue, we all heard a lady scream
causing us to immediately run towards the source of the sound. There were droids, that had the
word ‘MONO’ labelled on them, that were tearing down the flags and decorations but at the
same time, they were unintentionally destroying the houses in that vicinity. The residents tried to
stop the droids, but their efforts were to no avail as the droids were programmed to attack anyone
that approaches it. It was utter chaos.

“Get them out of here.” My grandfather yelled to Nora as he charged towards the droids to try to
stop them. She instantly grabbed our hands and ran in the opposite direction towards a hover car.
I couldn’t even process my surroundings as my body was pumped with adrenaline. While
running, a piece of debris hit Nora’s head which tore her skin, leaving a massive wound. Before
entering the hover car, I managed to get a glimpse of my grandfather who was protecting the
residents while keeping an eye on us to make sure we did not get harmed. I could see the sheer
courage in his eyes.

Nora set the location of the hover car to go to the airport and decided to stay behind, as me and
my family flew off at full speed. As I sat in my seat, trying to interpret what happened, the only
thing I could think of was “why?”. Why did he sacrifice himself to protect them? Why is he
willing to give up everything for his people and country? Why?

TANAH KITA
bahagia, jika bukan kerana datuk saya. Datuk saya merupakan seorang petani sejak beliau kecil
lagi. Datuk saya mengusahakan pelbagai jenis tanaman, seperti pokok pisang, tanaman padi,
mengusahakan tanamannya tanpa lelah.

memanfaatkan berbanding tanaman buatan manusia.
bawah kaki kita.
