La Justicia de Dios y la Nuestra – God’s Justice and Ours Dcn. Jesus Cardenas Escuchando el Evangelio de este Domingo, uno solo puede pensar en que las matemáticas y Dios no trabajan igual. El salario de un día era un denario en los tiempos de Jesús, pero cuando vemos que varias personas trabajaron muchas horas y unos solo un cortoperiodo, entonces hacemos las operaciones pertinentes. Si uno trabajo 12 horas, otros 9, otros 6, otros 3 y finalmente unos solo una hora, entonces podríamos calcular cuanto le tocaría a cada uno, pero Jesús nos sorprende cuando dice que el amo les dio a todos el mismo pago: un denario. En este mundo en que vivimos diríamos que fue injusto, ya que no les pago en base al esfuerzo y el cansancio, pero realmente no entendemos que el punto de esta parábola es la justicia, darle a cada uno, lo que es justo. Si pensamos que algunos de estos trabajadores no fueron elegidos a primera hora, entonces no llevarían a su hogar el denario necesario para sobrevivir; se quedan entonces en la plaza esperando que alguien los lleve a trabajar, aunque sea una parte del día para no llegar con las manos vacías, lo que implicaría que no habría comida para su familia ese día. Los que estaban todavía allí a las 5pm, esto es, una hora antes de terminar el periodo de trabajo, sentían perder la esperanza y que regresarían derrotados a casa, pero no, el amo los llamo y trabajaron por una sola hora. Al recibir el pago de todo un día a cambio de solo una hora de trabajo, solo puedo pensar en el agradecimiento en el corazón de esos trabajadores, ya que llegarían a su casa con el denario esperado; pero esto desato la ambición de los otros, que pensaron que recibirían mas por su esfuerzo, por eso, al recibir un denario se molestaron y retaron al amo quien les dijo: “acaso se enojan conmigo por ser bueno?”. Dios así nos da a todos el mismo premio: la vida eterna. Aunque toda la vida seamos buenos católicos o si nos arrepentimos al final, El es bueno y nos ama a todos por igual, por eso recibimos el mismo premio. Un rutero de Juárez llego al cielo y San Pedro le pregunto su nombre, lo encontró en la lista y lo llevo a un hermoso departamento en el centro del Cielo. Tras de él venía un sacerdote que se emociono pensando donde lo iban a poner a el. Al verificar su nombre san Pedro lo llevo a un edificio de departamentos múltiples. Molesto le pregunto porque al rutero lo había llevado a ese hermoso departamento, y a el, sacerdote, a un multifamiliar. San Pedro le dijo: cuando usted predicaba todos se dormían, pero cuando este hombre manejaba, todos rezaban el rosario. Listening to this Sunday’s Gospel, we can only think that mathematics and God do not work the same. The salary for one day in Jesus’ times was a denarius, but when we see that some people worked many hours and others only a short period, we do the pertinent operations. If one worked 12 hours, others 9, others 6, others 3 and finally others only one hour, then we can calculate how much each one will receive, but Jesus surprises us when he says that the owner gave the same payment to all: a denarius. In this world where we live, we can say that he was unjust, because he did not pay based on the effort and tiredness, but we are not really understanding that the point of this parable is the justice, give everyone what is just. If we think that those laborers who were not chosen at the first hour would not take home the necessary denarius to survive; they stayed at the plaza hoping that someone may take them to work, even a small part of the day to avoid going home empty handed which would imply that there would be no food for the family that day. Those who were still waiting at 5pm, that is, the last hour before the end of the work period were losing hope and were about to go home defeated, but the owner called them, and they work for only one hour. While they received that payment for one day of labor for only one hour of work, I can only imagine how thankful they were within their heart, because they will go home with the expected denarius; but this provoked ambition on the others who thought that they would receive more for their effort, for that reason, when receiving the denarius, they were upset and challenged the owner who answered them: “are you envious because I am generous?” God gives us all the same prize: eternal life. Even though we may have been good Catholics all our lives or if we repent at the end, He is good and loves us all the same, and so we receive the same reward. A bus driver from Juarez arrived to the Pearly Gates and Saint Peter asked his name, found him in the book and took him to a beautiful penthouse at Downtown Heaven. Behind him, there was a priest who was excited thinking about what place he will be assigned to. St. Peter checked his name and took him to a multi-family building. He was upset and challenged the decision and ask the reason. St. Peter told him: when you were preaching everyone was sleeping, but when this man was driving, everyone was praying the Rosary.
