Y T Ú, ¿Qué dices? – What do YOU say? Dcn. Jesus Cardenas Hoy Jesús pregunta a sus discípulos ¿quien dice la gente que es él? Las respuestas hablan de alguien que trae mensaje de Dios, así como cualquier otro profeta; lo ven como alguien que habla bonito,pero que sus palabras inspiran y luego desaparecen. Algunos se atreven a decir que él podría ser Elías, que fue llevado al cielo en un carruaje de fuego y que su mensaje viene directamente de Dios, y otros atinan a decir que podría ser Juan el Bautista, ese hombre que invitaba a la conversión, pero que fue decapitado por el Rey Herodes. Todas las respuestas son buenas porque admiran algo en él, pero no llegan a decir claramente quien es Jesús. Entonces, él pregunta, y ustedes, ¿Quién dicen que soy yo? La pregunta ahora ¡es para ti! Jesús quiere que le digas para ti quien es él, desde tu propia vista, perspectiva o idea. Tu respuesta puede ser que él es un hombre que dice palabras que dan vida, que es un profeta que habla de parte de Dios, que es un hombre que sana a los enfermos con el poder de lo alto, que defiende a los oprimidos de las injusticias, que es alguien que me ama sin condición, etc. Mi respuesta habla mucho mas de mi que de él porque descubro lo que necesito. Si me hace falta sanar algo en mi vida, lo veo como un sanador de enfermos, aunque Jesús les decía que su fe los había salvado, no sanado, ya que la sanación viene como consecuencia de la salvación que nos ofrece. Si me siento triste, lo veo como un consolador de los que sufren, ya que secaba las lagrimas de los oprimidos y derrotados dándoles esperanza. Si tengo hambre de justicia, lo veo como alguien que viene a dar a cada quien lo que merece, aunque preferiría que fuera mas duro con mis enemigos, como lo soy yo. Si tengo necesidades físicas, lo veo como alguien que domina la naturaleza y da a manos llenas lo que la tierra produce en abundancia. ¡ El es Dios! Esa es la respuesta e incluye todo lo que hemos dicho anteriormente y mucho mas, mi Dios! This Sunday we hear Jesus asking his disciples, who do people say that he is? The answers talked about someone who brings messages from God, just like any other prophet; they saw him like someone who speaks prettily, but his words inspired and then disappeared. Some others dare to say that he could be Elijah, who was taken to heaven in a chariot of fire and that his message came directly from God; but others just said that he could be John the Baptist, that man who invited to conversion but he was beheaded by King Herod. All answers are good because they admired something in him, but they do not clearly say who is Jesus. Then, he asked them, and you, who do you say that I am? His question now, is for you! Jesus wants you to tell who he is for you, from your own perspective or idea. Your answer could be that he is a man saying word that give life, that he is a prophet speaking on behalf of God, that he is a man who heals the sick with the power from above, that he is who defends the oppressed from injustices, that he is one who loves me without any condition. My answer is talking mo-re about me than about him becau-se it will reflect what I am lacking. If I need to heal any aspect of my life, I see him as a healer of the sick, al-though Jesus used to tell the people that their faith had saved them, not heal them, because healing comes as consequence of the salvation he offers. If I feel sad, I see him as a consoler of the suffering because he dried the tears of the oppressed and defeated giving them hope. If I am hungry of justice, I see him as some-one who comes to give everyone what they deserve, although I would rather prefer him to be as tough as I am with my enemies. If I have physical needs, I see him as someone who controls nature and provide with abundance what the earth produces generously. He is God! That’sthe answer that includes everything that we said before and much more, my God!
