Friendship

What do you value most in your best friend? Is it their ability
to laugh with you for hours on end? Or that they’ll be there
for you at a drop of a hat if you need a shoulder to cry on? Or
the fact that they love you unconditionally for everything that
you are and aren’t?

Foreword

by Teacher Eunice

It started during the English lesson in the Lower Secondary

class. I was discussing the content of the topic in the lesson and

some of the students caught the idea and suggested that they

carried out the task to publish a magazine with the theme,

"Friendship" as a class project. Sehrish Ahmed and Evangeline Lua

showed a lot of excitement and enthusiasm to carry the task. Madam Eunice Leo, Advisor
Hence, Sehrish became the editor and Evangeline became the

assistant editor and photographer. Nur Azra Fahira took the role of

an illustrator.

It amazed me to see them putting a lot of work and effort to
publish the magazine. They demonstrated co-operative team work
in planning and working together. They wrote many of the articles,
interviewed their peers and teachers in a survey and organised the
photos taken to produce an interesting magazine.

This project became an opportunity for the students to acquire
real life skills and knowledge beyond the walls of the classroom.
They have learned to identify obstacles and to find solutions during
the whole process of publishing a simple magazine. In doing so,
they have raised their confidence and mental abilities to finish a
task within the boundaries of their class and school environment.

Lastly, I want to congratulate them for the team work well done!

Friendship

What is Friendship to you?

“They are people you can trust, and they support
you through thick and thin”

-Teacher Anisah-
“They give me food when I didn’t bring mine"

-Elizabeth, P4-
“People that are fun to be with, people you can open
up to”

-Fadilah, Upper Secondary-
“A bond between two people that is difficult to break”

-Sofiah, Upper Secondary-
“Companion and love”

Isaac, Lower Secondary-

What is friendship to you? It can be trust, loyalty, fun,
shared interests, companion, love or even the joy of
doing something stupid together. Friendship can be
shown even in the littlest of actions, even a simple
“Thank you” or giving someone food when they didn’t
bring theirs.

We live in a world shaken by change. A global
economy is emerging. High technology, once
restricted to developed nations, is cultivating the world
at the speed of light. But one of the things that will
never change is the love of a friend.

To me, a friend is someone that plays a big and
important role in your life. Being with a friend means
forgetting what one gives and remembering what one
receives.

When we ask ourselves which people in our lives
mean the most to us, we often find that it is those who,
instead of giving advice or solutions, it is those that
have chosen to share our pain. The friends who can
be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion,
who can stay with us in an hour of grief and sadness,
who can tolerate not knowing but facing with us the
reality of our powerlessness, and that is a friend who
cares.

To me, friends are like a gentle, healing hand.
