Inspired by the establishment of Al Azhar University Waqf and the endowment
funds of a few eminent universities in the UK and USA, the International Islamic
University Malaysia (IIUM) has made the initiative to establish this Division i.e.
IIUM Endowment Fund (IEF). The IIUM Majlis endorsed the establishment in its
48th meeting which was held on 15th March 1999.
Through the various fund raising initiatives which attracted local as well as
international philanthropists, IEF is now known as part of the University's vital
components to support the financial sustainability of the University. The sources of
funds rely not only on the cash contributions received, but also on real estate
management and investment, as well as the recently launched IIUM Knowledge
Waqf programme.
The target recipients of this fund are those financially incapable students with
excellent academic performance, who enjoy scholarship awards, settlement of
tuition fees, a monthly stipend allowance and one-off financial assistance during
their studies in IIUM.
