FOR KIND ATTENTION OF DOS VOTING MEMBERS
The recommendations of the Electoral Review Subcommittee as approved by Executive of DOS on 5th August 2015:-
I. DISPLAY OF THE LIST OF VOTING MEMBERS ON THE WEBSITE
It was suggested that the name and address of all voting members be displayed as the VOTER’S LIST on the DOS website. The
online display of the updated voter’s list on the DOS website is to be ensured by October 15 each year. This is to be performed
by the treasurer with the concurrence of the DOS President & Vice President.
II. PROFILE UPDATE BY THE DOS MEMBERS
It was emphasized that all DOS Members be responsible for updating their address change and voting status. Regular email
communications may be sent out by the secretary / treasurer requesting for the same.

15th January of the following year. Members providing false information/declaration of their address status will be subject to
severe punitive action as per recommendations of disciplinary committee assigned to formulate these.
III. CONCERNS REGARDING EXISTING VOTER LIST
a) The committee addressed the apprehension that the current voters list contains names of DOS members who are no
ϐǤ
such members are made to update their address and voting status. It was reiterated that in the current scenario, the
onus of address change should be placed on the members and they are required to provide an honest declaration of their
current working & residential address and thereby their voter status.
b) It was also stated that senior DOS Members, who retire from practice and are still residents of Delhi, be considered as
voting members. In other words working address is not essential if residential address is Delhi.
c) It was also opined that a complaint regarding status of voting member may be sent to the Secretary by any Delhi member
(in case of members whose voting status is doubted or if a name is inadvertently omitted). Such complaints to the DOS

The committee will implement its decision after due notice to the member.
IV. ELECTION CAMPAIGN
It was agreed upon that non-ophthalmologists will not be allowed to campaign on behalf of the candidates at the conference/
election venue
V. ELECTORAL PROCESS
a) The CV of all electoral candidates may be displayed on the DOS website following last date of withdrawal.
b) Last date for withdrawal of nomination to be 6 weeks prior to the date of election

d) The election area be well secured so that no unauthorized person can gain access.
e) Only members on the voter list and producing valid id document will be permitted to vote.

h) In the event of any misconduct by members / contestants / voters during the electoral process, complaint may be made to

VI. CUSTODY OF ELECTION RELATED DOCUMENTS IN THE EVENT OF DISPUTE

with the election commissioner till resolution of the dispute. Copies will be furnished as required to appropriate authorities.

PROCEEDINGS PROTOCOL FOR MONTHLY CLINICAL MEETINGS
1. The Host (usually the ophthalmic chief of the Hosting Institution) will welcome the DOS and request the President and Secretary of
the DOS to come to the Dais and start the Meeting.
2. The President and the Secretary will take up their seats on the side of the Dais, which is opposite to the Lectern. (They would
continue to be in the same position through out the Meeting, including the Mini Symposium.) The Chairman of the Symposium will be invited to
a Third seat next to the President on the same table, after the ‘Clinical Talk’. The Speakers, who if they form a Panel would be seated on the
same side as the Lectern.
3. The President will declare the Meeting open.
4. The President and the Secretary will then conduct the meeting.

OBITUARY
Dr. S.K. Jain, a leading ophthalmologist, he did his MBBS from Vishakapatnam Medical
Ǥ ȋ Ȍ ϐǯ

London for 3 years but had to return to India to take care of his family. Then he did his MS
from Irwin Hospital, Delhi under the able guidance of Prof. S.R.K Malik. He had a really
successful career. He was instrumental in establishing the Nazar Kunwar Surana Hospital
and Eye Hospital at Baraut. He was the senior eye surgeon at Shroff Charitable Eye
Hospital, Daryaganj for 25 years. He had a very simple and humble personality and was
very soft spoken. He was religious and kind and was a family man and great philanthropist.
He is survived by wife, Mrs. Prabha Jain (social worker), son, Dr. Sudeep Kishore Jain
(Ophthalmologist), daughter in law, Mrs. Manisha Jain (Astrologer) and grandsons Aditya
(2nd year MBBS) and Divij (12th class).

Dr. Surbhit Choudhry did his schooling from Modern School, Barakhamba Road (Batch of
1990). He was a national level swimmer and represented the country in Age Group International
swimming competitions. He did his MBBS from JSS Medical College, Mysore. He did his Diplomat
National Board (DNB) from Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai, followed by Vitreo Retinal Fellowship.
He Joined ICARE Eye Hospital and pushed it to be a centre of excellence. In 2008 he launched
his venture in Noida, Named as Eye Health Centres (EHC) under his directorship, In a short span
of 8 years has become one of the top centres of Noida, with its branches in C-Doc Delhi and other
areas of Delhi, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad & Bullandshaher.
After a brief viral illness followed by multiple organ failure we lost an entrepreneur at a very
early age.
