Preface
Inside of my E-book, it will be shown about
BoA. BoA is the queen of K-pop idols (Korean-pop)
which I really like and am interested in. I usually
watch and listen to her songs that she produced or
performed. As I have read, BoA is religious people.
She likes to participate in many religious activities
cooperating with her singing work.

Introduction
Over the past decade, K-pop culture has
globalized its popularity to different locations in the
world, not only teens and twenties but also and
increasingly their parents. K-pop groups consistently
score regular hits in charts around the world for
Billboard to open a "K-pop Hot 100" world chart in
2012 and YouTube to add a specific "K-pop" entry to
its existing musical entries. All this triggers a sense
of a true "cultural" tidal wave.
Several stars have opened the doors of K-pop
to the world, and one renowned female solo act who
has single handedly done so is BoA. Since her debut
at the early age of 13, this multi-talented star hasn’t
stopped shining ever since.
BoA is one of the few stars in her generation
who has achieved commercial success not only in her
home country but also abroad. She’s also performed
alongside them in several of Japan’s biggest stages
and concerts.
5
She’s broken barriers not only in language with
her fluency in Japanese and English, but she also
introduced her brand of pop and street music to a
wider audience, including the US. She’s sold millions
of albums and singles, held packed concert tours, and
won the hearts of fans all over the world.
In her personal life, BoA remains relatively
quiet when it comes to sharing her personal life and
makes it a point to stay out of the public eye but as I
know she participated in many religious activities.
Who is BoA? Let's take a look more at her life.

Biography
Kwon Bo-ah (Korean: 권보아, born November 5,
1986), known professionally as BoA, is a South Korean
singer, songwriter, record producer, and actress
active in South Korea and Japan. Dubbed the "Queen
of K-pop", BoA has been recognized as one of the
most successful and influential Korean entertainers
throughout her career.
Born and raised in Gyeonggi-do, South Korea,
she was discovered by SM Entertainment talent
agents when she
accompanied her
older brother to a
talent search in
1998 and was
trained for two
years. Since her
debut in August 2000, BoA has released nineteen
studio albums, including nine in Korean, nine in
Japanese, and one in English. On television, she
appeared as a judge on the reality competition show
7
K-pop Star (2011–2013), as an actress on the
television drama Listen to Love (2016), and as a host
for the second season of Produce 101 (2017).
Early life
At age eleven, BoA accompanied her older
brother to an SM Entertainment talent search.
Though her brother was the one who auditioned as a
break-dancer, SM talent scouts instead took notice
of BoA and offered her a contract on the same night
as the auditions. BoA underwent two years of training
(involving vocal, dance, English, and Japanese
lessons), and at the age of thirteen released her
debut album ID; Peace B in South Korea on August
25, 2000. The album was moderately successful; it
8
entered the Top 10 of the South Korean charts and
sold around 156,000 units. The time passed. BoA
released many songs and got into many countries such
as Japan, China, and the US.
BoA's multilingual skills (she speaks Japanese
and English along with native Korean and has
recorded songs in Mandarin) have contributed to her
commercial success throughout East Asia. With the
release of her debut Japanese studio album, Listen
to My Heart (2002), BoA became the first Korean
pop star to break through in Japan following the fall
of barriers that had restricted the import and
export of entertainment between the countries since
the end of World War II. She is the only foreign
artist to have three albums that sell more than one
million copies in Japan and is one of only three artists
to have six consecutive number-one studio albums on
the Oricon charts since her debut.
9
From 2016 to the present, BoA mainly focuses
on production and being backstage for the new k-pop
generation.

Spiritual belief
BoA is a well-known catholic and has used her fame
to promote church activities her entire career. She
was chosen as South Korea’s representative of 2014’s

Some pictures of spiritual activities
BoA had the honor of being able to meet Pope
Francis who was visiting Korea. This was confirmed
by SM Entertainment, BoA's agency. BoA met Pope
Francis at Daejeon Catholic University, Thursday
(14/8). She also had lunch with the Pope and 20 other
representatives during the Asia Youth Day.
12
BoA participated in the 3rd Korea Youth Day and was
chosen as South Korea’s representative of 2014’s
Asia Youth Day.
