Zone Mailing Options
TheHomeMag’s purpose is to generate leads for our local home improvement clients every month from the hundreds of thousands of owner-occupied single- family homes we target. To do so, we’ve created three distinct options of mailing to best fit our clients’ varying needs.
Clients may choose from five ad sizes and many ad positions and then choose where in our distribution market they wish to mail. We commonly create two distinct zones in a specific market plus provide the option of mailing to every home in our distribution.
Whether you mail to one Zone or the other, or elect to mail to our entire distribution in a market, you can be guaranteed we will do our utmost to make sure you receive the leads you need to grow your business. National Schedule
Issue: The published issue month on the magazine | Ad Deadline: Final day for agreement & artwork submission | In-Home: The first of a 3 day requested USPS delivery window.
TheHomeMag® is a monthly publication and most commonly lands in mailboxes 12 times annually. Select markets that are adversely affected by extreme winter weather may elect to mail an Issue or two less. Certain markets, where the sun shines often, may elect to mail an additional 13th Issue each year – that’s once every four weeks.
We close our magazine’s production cycle about ten days prior to the magazine being delivered into mailboxes. This
gives us the time needed to complete ads and final proof our magazine, print the books and our off-page products, and get everything into the hands of the local USPS facilities.
Finally, we are very aware of key holidays and do our best to avoid attention conflicts with our home owning audience. Hitting their mailboxes at the right time is another factor in ensuring you have the best results possible every Issue we mail.

Typical Advertising Rates
Print Advertising Rates are product of distribution (quantity) and method of distribution (format). The more you mail the higher the postage cost and the larger the magazine/print format, the larger the per piece rate. However, TheHomeMag® has managed to meticulously refine our postage costs to maximize certain USPS discounts for saturation and owner- occupancy. Additionally, the dimensional size of our magazine has been created so that our per piece postage rates remain flat up to and including a 56 page magazine.
It is common that a full page ad in TheHomeMag will run about 2 cents per home, and that a half page will run near 1 penny per home. Quarter pages run even less. Our two most prized and sought after positions are the Front Cover and the Back Cover – both of which produce the best results. We offer various premium placements as well, such as inside front and back covers, pages 3 through 9, our large format center-spread – all for a small upcharge.
TheHomeMag is 100% advertising. We do not offer editorial options and tend to shy away from advertorial pieces. We require our Front Cover to be clean and beautiful, free from ad-like offers and statements. It is for that reason we offer our Front Cover clients and ad inside the magazine at no additional charge.

Bleed, Trim & Safety:
Full page and two page spreads can be designed for full bleed. Any full bleed ad, including the front and back covers, requires a 1/4” bleed. Quarter and half page ads do not have a full bleed option. Ads designed to bleed must adhere to the recommended safety margin and keep all text 1/4” from the final trim size. Front covers are designed by a THM Certified Designer with client provided photos or stock images. Safety, or margin, is the distance from the “safe area” to the trimmed edge of the ad. You should keep anything you want to protect from accidental trimming within this safe area. Color, imagery and of course bleed are expected to extend well beyond the safety area. Important things to consider keeping within the margin would be text, phone numbers or logos. The safety is merely a margin to protect from anything important being accidentally trimmed during the printing process.

Artwork Submission:
Design files can be submitted electronically via email, DropBox, Google Drive, Box or just about any other digital means. Submissions can also be made using CDs, DVDs, USB/Flash Drives or any other acceptable form of media capable of transmitting high resolution design files. All submissions will be reviewed prior to placement and TheHomeMag reserves the right to make adjustments to any designs violating the terms and conditions of the advertising agreement.
Advertisers understand and accept that in our normal 4-color, web offset printing process, color variations can occur and differences in the quality of paper may cause slight variations in color, clarity and overall appearance between digital proofs and the printed magazine.
Software:
Our design teams exclusively use the Adobe Creative Suite of applications comprised of Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator & Adobe InDesign. Our offices are equipped to handle a wide range of file types but specific versions of software vary by office. Yes, FREE Design Services are included with the purchase of any product. Ads developed by TheHomeMag can only be used in our publications and products. We do not provide high- resolution files for use in other media.
