This book is a quick operational guide/manual for EXITING
from the crisis due to COVID-19. It is something different
from (and more than) the (American) English version of
my Italian book “COVID-19, 16 passi per uscire dalla crisi”
(May 2020), which has been published by Editoriale Del-
fino, the same Italian Company that produces and offers
this quick operational guide/manual.
EXITING from the crisis is much more than possible.
Useful Lessons Learned should be used in order to avoid
making again the same mistakes that we have already/
just made.

PREFACE

by Pier Luigi Cherchi

Italian version.

“Il virus SARS-CoV-2 ha cambiato le nostre vite. Si è trattato
di un evento imprevedibile? Abbiamo imparato qualcosa,
passato? Come possiamo uscire dalla crisi causata dalla
pandemia?

prevalentemente socio-economico, psicologi, statistici e quant’altro.
Giovanni Bonini, giovane ingegnere, consulente e Temporary Manager,

Figure P.1. Paradise in the Little Dolomites (Northern Italy).

economico. Chiusi nelle nostre case, nelle nostre abitazioni-prigioni,
abbiamo attraversato giorni claustrofobici e interminabili, passando

motore trainante dell’economia.

Giovanni Bonini

discussione.

International (American English) version.

“The SARS-CoV-2 virus has changed our lives. Was this an
unpredictable event? Have we learn something? Shall we
continue to commit the same mistakes of the past? How
can we get out of the crisis caused by the pandemia? Who is
going to guide us out of the stormy sea?”

Giovanni Bonini

As a Doctor, I thought that only medical-scientific thinking should deal
with a viral epidemic, especially of these proportions, but in reality
we have seen everything in the Task Forces and committees created
by the Governments to combat the novel Coronavirus, the plague of
the 21st century: from Managers of large Multinational Companies to
jurists, economists, Business Administration teachers, experts with
mainly socioeconomic Skills, psychologists, statisticians and more.

Figure P.2. Late Autumn in Lerici (Northern Italy).

In this eventful panorama where everyone has something to say,
Giovanni Bonini, a young Chartered Engineer, Consultant and
Temporary Manager, even wrote a book, a very practical and didactic
operating manual, indicating his recipe for getting up and getting out
of the crisis. In his globalistic vision of our society, starting first of
all from optimistic forecasts on the trend of the epidemic, destined
to disappear in a short time, he proposes key points that have been
fully analyzed in a very precise manner, as a true “mannerist”, starting
from the change in the models of life, return to ethics and old Values,
associated with greater respect for the planet and its components,
fighting pollution and global warming.

EXITING from the crisis 13

Figure P.3. Autumn in the Little Dolomites (Northern Italy).

This pandemia was supposed to make us all more humble, but
in reality the political Communication Strategies have created a
“dictatorship of fear” that winks at legitimate anxieties from which
we get no help, no support, except for economic weakening. Closed
in our homes, in our prisons, we have gone through claustrophobic
and endless days, spending them chasing the succession of news
and deliberately unclear numbers regarding the development of the
Coronavirus pandemic. In the phase of the greatest difficulty, empathy
was appealed, with a sort of silly festival of flags, slogans (“everything
will be fine”), songs sung on the balconies, rainbows or the temptation
to bask in suffering.
Instead, we need complete reactions, expressive forces that allow us
to start again in the best way, a shared Strategy. This is what Bonini
hopes for by composing his “Strategic Planning” through concepts that
are already well known, which have often been the basis of electoral
or propaganda campaigns, such as meritocracy, the right to study, the
redistribution of wealth, the fight against pollution, the simplification
of the bureaucracy that hinders and blocks all investments in Italy,
the purchase of Government bonds on an individual level, not only as
European Union by the European Central Bank, the reconstruction of
Europe which certainly did not work at this stage.

14 Editoriale Delfino

Among the priorities, the development of organizational models that
can allow the reopening of factories and Companies in conditions of
maximum safety for workers, and a new way of investing by the State
that must aim to grow Companies that operate and maintain their
operational Chain in our Country, which must be the driving force of
the economy.

“Is there a hidden link between COVID-19, distribution of
wealth, respect for the Environment, global warming and a
growing number of extreme weather phenomena? Probably
yes, because they could be all the symptoms of a missing
balance in a lost Paradise called Earth”

Giovanni Bonini

In this virtual World, halfway between Greta Thunberg and Francis of
Assisi, full of flowers, trees, animals that run free in the new pollution-
free planet Earth that will be born after the apocalypse of COVID-19,
Bonini sees the way not to run into the same mistakes made by this
globalized society dominated by money and power, the deadly traps
from which we have all gained something anyway and which we must
now change. “Nihil est dictu facilius”. The real structure of our modern
society, as in the “Matrix”, was conceived to defend itself, to stabilize
itself, to avoid changes that could endanger its survival. And it won’t
be a Coronavirus epidemic that will challenge it.
