Dasar kompetensi Kompetensi dasar Indikator Menggunakan teks bahasa inggris lisan, tulisan dan visual untuk berinteraksi dan berkomunikasi dalam konteks yang beragam dan dalam situasi formal dan informal dari berbagai jenis teks seperti narasi, deskripsi, prosedur, recount, dan news item. 1. Membedakan fungsi sosial, struktur teks, dan unsur kebahasaan beberapa teks prosedur multi modal dengan mencari informasi terkait kiat-kiat(tips) menggunakan/membuat sesuatu sesuai penggunaannya. 1. Mengidentifikasi tujuan dan langkahlangkah dalam teks prosedur. 2. Menentukan informasi penting dalam teks prosedur. 3. Menyimpulkan langkah-langkah dalam teks prosedur. 4. Menerapkan pemahaman tentang teks prosedur dalam situasi kehidupan nyata. 2. Teks prosedur 2.1 Menangkap makna secara kontekstual terkait fungsi sosial, struktur teks, dan unsur kebahasaan teks khusus dalam teks prosedur. 2.2 Menyusun teks prosedur dalam bentuk lisan dan tulis, dengan memperhatikan fungsi sosial, struktur teks, dan unsur kebahasaan, secara benar dan sesuai konteks. 1. Mengidentifikasi tujuan penulisan teks prosedur. 2. Merencanakan langkah-langkah dalam teks prosedur. 3. Mengorganisir langkah-langkah dengan jelas dan sistematis. 4. INTRODUCTION a) Short description The text of the procedure is a text that describes or allows us to create or use something.its social function is to describe how something is done through a series sequence. The communicative aim of this text is to explain how something is achieved through a series of actions or steps. There are three common structures in the text of the procedure.
The first is a target or a goal. The second one is the materials or devices. Steps or methods are the third and last. Understanding the text we're reading is a process or not that easy. You can improve your comprehension, and your English skills and competence towardsthese materials. c) Learning guide In this learning activity, you will observe and comprehend the text structure, the language features, the social function of a number of prosedures regarding to their contexts of situation. You will alsoproduce a number of prosedures which are contextually acceptable social function, text structure and language features. To start with, you willbe exposed to some examples of prosedures. You will also analyze the parts of prosedures to see how different structures of prosedures present to meet their social / language purposes. B. MAIN SECTION A. Learning Outcomes a. Knowledge 1. To understand, apply, and compare the social functions, text structures, and lexico grammatical features of a number of prosedures in regard to the contexts of situation. 2. To analyze the social functions, text structures, and language features of a number of prosedures in regard to the contexts of situation. 3. To apply the knowledge to engage in social functions with prosedures, in contextually acceptable text structures and lexico-grammatical features. c. Skill 1. To analyze the contextual differences and similarities between a number of prosedures in regard to the social functions, by showing the evidence from the texts (expressions, sentences, paragraphs, etc.) in fluent and lexico grammatically accurate spokenand written English.

Definition A procedure text is a text that explains how to make or use something through a sequence of steps. Its social function is to describe how something is completely done through a sequence of steps, and its communicative purpose is to describe how something is made through a sequence of actions or steps 2. Sosial function • To explain/tell (the reader) how to make/operate/do something through a sequence of actions or steps. • To explain steps/instruction to make/operate/do something. 3. Generic structure 1. Goal/Aim This text contains about purpose of making or operating of something. 2. Materials/Equipment Materials consist of ingredients that are used in making something. But not all parts of procedure text includes materials, sometimes a procedure text does not have materials sectio.n 3. Steps/Methods Contains the steps or sequences that must be done so that the objectives outlined in the aim/goal to be achieved. Steps or sequences must be a sequence from the first to the last. 4. There are three kind of prosedures text: 1. Prosedure text that describes how to opperate/use some thing. E.g: How to use camera, How to use a rice cooker. 2. Prosedure text that gives intructions in carrying aout certain activity. E.g: How to play guitar’ How to make brownies. 3. Prosedures text related to life tips. E.g: How to be succes in life, How to make yoursefl happy. 6. Arrange a prosedure text 1. State your goals clearly at the beginning. 2. List all materials and equipment in order of use. 3. List the steps in chronological order. 4. Focus on general people by using subject "You" or "We" instead of individuals. 5. Use action verbs (imperative verbs), such as cut, peel, plug, turn on, etc. 6. Use sequencing words to connect the steps. E.g.: First(ly), second(ly), third(ly), next, then, etc. 7. Give detailed information on how (carefully, with the knife); where (into the oven); when (after the water boils). 8. Give detailed factual description (shape, size, color, amount). 7.
