Tax File number & Superannuation For ?
Tax File Number
A tax file number (TFN) is a unique number issued to individuals to help the taxation office administer tax and other Australian Government Systems. You must apply online and obtain a TFN to be eligible to work in Australia.
You can only apply for this once you are in Australia. Once you have applied for this you will be given a reciept number. You will generally recieve notification of your TFN within 10 working days.
Superannuation
Superannuation (often simply known as Super) is a reitirment program in Australia. Employers are required by law to pay an additional amount based on a proportion of your wages into a complying super fund.
All employees are required to have a super fund, including international staff. International employees can claim their super back once they have returned to their country of residence
There are a few things to consider when
choosing a super funds. Spend some time
looking at your choices.
You may find super comparison websites
helpful in gathering some of this information -

Thredbo has 3 default funds that we often use, including;
- Australian Superannuation - Hostplus
- Care Super
If you don't recieve anything by then we recommend you call the ATO and quote your receipt number:

Plan your trip! How to get to Thredbo
Please pre-plan your trip to Thredbo. Public transport is VERY LIMITED from sydney and canberra; they do not run everyday before the season starts, which is when you will be travelling.
One way to organise your travel is to find a friend through the staff Facebook page and car pool. Please join up HERE
If you are having any troubles with your travel, conact your manager or the recruitment team for help.
A really useful website to help you plan your trip is: https://www.rome2rio.com

Bring some Back up Cash and Health
Bring some spare cash with you.
We cannot guarantee that the season will start on time and therefore, we cannot guarantee that you will have work and lots of it from when you first arrive.
So bring some money with you for the start of the season. Plain pasta or 2 min noodles can get very boring , very quickly if that's all you can afford ....
Travel & Health Insurance
If you are unfortunate enough to not land that 360 switch and need an ambulance it could cost you over $500.00 to get to the nearest hospital.
We strongly recommend you obtain ambulance cover (available through your health fund) before arriving to Thredbo.
If you already have ambulance cover, but are not from NSW, please check the conditions of the cover for NSW on your policy.
Ambulance cover can be purchased for as little as $25 from any private health fund, and is well worth the small additional expense.
For those International staff please make sure that your travel insurance covers
ambulance and hospital for winter sports.
If you are injured whilst carrying out work duties, this will have the possibility of being covered by work cover. Make sure you report any injuries whilst your at work to your manager ASAP.
A simple Google search of travel or health insurance will help you select the right one for you.
