10 12 FEBRUARY 2026 DOGGIERESCUE.COM CATS E- MAGAZINE W H E R E I S P O P U L A R G I R L M R S T I G G Y W I N K L E N O W ? FROM FOREVER…. Written by: Carolyn & Alex ADOPTION Updates Mrs Tiggywinkle graced our magazine with at least four covers over the me she waited to meet her forever family, this one was my favourite. Affeconately known as “ Tiggy ” she was much loved at our shelter. Each month as the magazine was published our wishes went with her to find that special family. It seemed that she was always by passed but then one day...it happened. Tiggy was adopted on 9th November 2025 by Carolyn and Alex. Below is her update story,,, She was very shy, nervous and afraid but I managed to convince Monika that I would be the one for Tiggy and so she did come home with us. Gradually, day by day, week by week, Tiggy came out of her shell and relaxed a bit more. It just took lots of loving care, regular food all for her (very hungry at the beginning) and she’s even put on a little weight. Tiggy is so happy being the only cat in the house with two loving adults who will look after her and allow her the run of the house. She lives with us in a two storey house overlooking Whale Beach. Dear Readers, Our beautiful girl Angel had gone over the Rainbow Bridge two months earlier after 14 glorious years that we all spent together. She was a Rescue and we adored her. But we were going to have a bit of a break before we got another cat. Then I saw Tiggy’s photo in Monika’s Doggie Rescue magazine and it said “Tiggy is sad” and she certainly looked very sad. That was it. I realised I had to come to the shelter and rescue Tiggy and make her happy. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE…ALL you need is LOVE… love, love, LOVE is ALL you need...LOVE, LOVE, LOVE...

1. FEBRUARY 2026 DOGGIERESCUE.COM CATS E MAGAZINE 13 She is very friendly to us, very affectionate, rubs herself on our legs and licks our hands and legs with her little sandpaper tongue. She gets two meals a day plus some cat nibbles and has a good appetite. She loves going out on the veranda, sitting in the sun and savouring all the smells. She also enjoys sitting by the front door and looking out through the flyscreen. She is curious (has explored the whole house in great detail ) and very intelligent and smart. Tiggy is now a very happy and relaxed pussy cat. She has a sweet, affectionate nature and is a delight to have around the house. She has a beautiful little calico fur coat which she grooms regularly. She is very neat in her litter box. Her life has been transformed, and so has ours. We feel we are very lucky to have found her and we both love her very much. We wanted to thank Monika for bringing us all together. “ Tiggy in front of me now falling asleep. She loves being wherever I am.” Carolyn “ Tiggy is a divine lile girl, so sweet and affeconate. She sleeps with me every night, cuddles up close and is very easy to love.”

12 FE 14 BRUARY 2026 DOGGIERESCUE.COM CATS E- MAGAZINE FEATURE Article Love is in the air...and we have the purr-fect match for you!WHY CATS MAKE EXCEPTIONAL COMPANIONS! Valenne’s Day oen arrives wrapped in red roses and ribbons, heart-shaped chocolates, and the so pressure to spend the evening whispering sweet nothings to someone special with a glass of champagne. But what if your “someone special” happens to have four paws, a fabulously fluffy tail, and a quesonable understanding of personal space? Fear not—cats are, in fact, the ideal Valenne’s Day companions, especially for those without a human partner or family around. For starters, cats possess an innate sense of timing. Just when you’re about to feel lonely, they leap onto your lap with the determination of a furry Cupid. Their purrs—scientifically proven to soothe stress—create the kind of emotional soundtrack that no romantic playlist could ever match. Forget violins; a purring cat is nature’s own love ballad. To my Dearest Valenne I wish you could see no human love compares to me, With my purrs so so and my paws so neat, I’d make your Valenne’s Day complete! I don’t need candlelight dinners, or fancy dates… Only the cozy warmth that your presence creates. With my fur of pure white I really am divine, Wherever you are dear Valenne… PLEASE, BE MINE! Your Emerald xxx Emerald

FEBRUARY 2026 DOGGIERESCUE.COM CATS E-MAGAZINE 15 Unlike human dates, cats require no reservations or elaborate plans that require new clothes and shoes to be purchased. They won’t complain if your Valentine’s dinner consists of microwaved mac and cheese, nor will they judge you for wearing pyjamas decorated with cartoon hearts and pussycats. In fact, cats prefer you at your coziest. They can also give gifts, more significant than human gifts — odd gifts, perhaps, like toy mice or dead lizards or the occasional sock or feather — but heartfelt gifts nonetheless. It’s the thought that counts! Most importantly, cats offer companionship that’s steady, gentle, and delightfully quirky. They love on their own terms, but when they choose you, it feelslike winning the lottery because of their most exclusive kind of affection. So this Valenne’s Day, don’t fret if there’s no human hand to hold. A warm, purring friend may be sifflng right beside you, offering the purest form of uncondional love—wrapped in fur. And if you don’t already have a cat, why not adopt one from Monika’s Doggie Rescue and give yourself not only a one-off Valenne’s gi& but a pussycat life long one! 18 FEBRUARY 2026 DOGGIERESCUE.COM CATS E-MAGAZINE 3. 2. DON’T ADOPT IF YOU CAN’T COMMIT... DUMPING YOUR PET IS JUST NO SOLUTION!3 ADOPTIONS THIS MONTHPurring is something that generates an enormous amount of research and debate. That’s because there is a lot more to that lovable vibration than we might think. Cats will purr when anxious or hungry as it seems to help relax and soothe them. Amazingly, investigation has also shown that the particular frequency of a cat’s purr could promote tissue healing and bone regeneration. No wonder they have the reputation for having nine lives. But as any cat owner knows, cats will purr when they are feeling happy and to show their loved ones that they are happy to have them around. Whatever the reason, purring is probably an indication we should stay close and be ready to respond to a request for a belly-rub. Romance Many researchers note that cats almost never meow to each other. This leads us to believe that it may well be a behaviour cats have invented only for thepurpose of communicating with humans. Research has also shown that cats tailor their ‘meow talk’ to their particular owners. Another reason to spend as much time as possible with your cat so you can keep developing your secret language. This could also mean that all that talk about cats being inscrutable, could really be more about us than them. It’s not that they’re not talking, it’s that we’re not listening. 22 FE 22 BRUARY 2026 DOGGIERESCUE.COM CATS E- MAGAZINE VALENTINE, BE MINE! WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO LOVE A RABBIT? If you are going to adopt a pet and only a rabbit will do,To make your new bun happy here is what you have to do...• Binkying: Happy leaps and twists in the air. • Nuzzling\/Grooming: Gentle nips or rubbing against you. • Flopping\/Splooting: Relaxing fully on the ground. • Sitting Near you: Feeling safe in your presence. • Taking Treats: Accepting food from your hand. HERE ARE SOME KEY REQUIREMENTS FOR LOVING A RABBIT. 1.) You need Paence & Trust: Rabbits aren't naturally trusting; you must earn it by letting them approach you, speaking softly, and avoiding sudden movements or chasing. 2.) It’s important to Respect Their Space: Provide hiding spots and private areas; let them retreat when overwhelmed. Don't force handling or picking them up. 3.) Make sure you take it slowly and have Gentle Interaction: Get down to their level, hand-feed treats (in moderation), pet their forehead\/ears (not chin\/belly), and learn their subtle signs of love (like binkies or nudging). 4.) Rabbits like a Smulang Environment: Offer space to run, play, and explore, with toys like stacking cups or blocks, as boredom leads to unhappiness. 5.) Most importantly of all you must Understand Their Nature: Recognize they are prey animals; a quick hop or flick of feet often means they feel threatened or want space. HOW DO RABBITS SHOW THEY LOVE YOU? By understanding and respecng their needs, you can build a strong bond where your rabbit feels safe and shows you genuine affecon in their unique way.

FEBRUARY 2026 DOGGIERESCUE.COM CATS E-MAGAZINE 23 WHY ADOPT TWO RABBITS? Adopting two rabbits is highly recommended because they are social animals that thrive on companionship. This leads to greater happiness, less boredom, reduced loneliness, and fewer behavioral issues like destructive chewing or depression, as they groom, play, and sleep together, mimicking their natural herd behavior and offering constant support that humans can't fully provide. Adopting a pre-bonded pair also saves time and effort on introductions and provides immediate security for the bunnies.
