want to help? Why not SPONSOR a homeless pet and
help them to find their forever homes through promotion
in our DoggieRescue magazine each month! On this
page are 7 needy pets seeking committed sponsors.

• PROMOTE: DoggieRescue has expanded our sponsorship program to include not only DOGGIES
but CATS and BUNNIES as well so there is a choice of pets for you to help. Cost is just $49.00 per
month which is tax deductible. There is nothing so worthwhile than the feeling you receive when a
homeless animal finds their forever home and it is amazing to be a part of it all.

• VISIT: You can also visit your sponsored pet for some one on one cuddle time or take them for a
walk around the lovely open spaces at Ingleside. Some sponsors love to give their sponsored pets little
treats of their favourite food or presents of toys. Sponsorship is so very important to our animals as it
gives them an extra chance of finding their forever home that much quicker and also if you can visit
them, some TLC too. Only sponsored dogs can be visited at Ingleside Shelter, not cats or bunnies.

• SHARE: You can also promote and share your sponsored pet on your social media.

MEET LESLEY CANSDELL

DoggieRescue Sponsor

Hello Readers,

I am delighted that DoggieRescue is now rescuing
cats and bunnies to add to their already illustrious
record of finding homes for so many abandoned dogs.
I have sponsored doggies continuously now for
several years and have recently added a cat to my
list. Cats and rabbits have a particularly hard time
finding responsible, forever homes and, depending on
circumstances, can be a great alternative to owning a
dog (or even in addition to!). So, why not add a cat or
bunny to your sponsorship. It is a most satisfying
undertaking, knowing that you are helping even more
deserving animals find their forever homes.

the first six years of her
life. All her puppies were
taken from her as soon
as they could be sold for
money. So now, every
time I go to the pet store,
I get her a new soft toy.
This makes her very
happy, and she loves
them all. She checks and
licks each one and
carries them around in
her mouth. Shannon

CELEBRATING OUR VERY SPECIAL GIRL
MOTHER’S DAY
“GOLDIE”

7TH DECEMBER 2013

RESCUED: Goldie came from
the pound heavily pregnant.
She gave birth to 6 beautiful
pups (4 girls, 2 boys, a couple
of days later, Mon 9 Dec). She
was a very loving Mum, caring
for her babies well and feeding
them. The big, healthy pups
were soon adopted and it was
Goldie’s turn to find a family.

ADOPTED: 5/3/2014 but it was
not the right home and she was
returned. Goldie was then
adopted by Len & Christine on
19/4/2014 and this was forever.

Hello Readers,

When we decided we would get another companion for our Border Collie Trixie (and us of
course), we looked online at Doggie Rescue. So many beautiful dogs all looking for new
homes! How to choose just one? It was very hard to narrow it down but eventually we did, sent
away our application and were thrilled when it was successful. We hopped in our car with
Trixie and made the 3 hour drive to meet “Goldie”, a 2 year old Corgi-Labrador cross. She was
very quiet on the trip to her new home. When we arrived it took a good 10 minutes to persuade
her to come in the front door. No doubt she was anxious about what was going on. It was a
further two weeks before she would hop on my lap. Now we can’t keep her off it. The moment
you sit down at night to watch TV, there’s a happy little face waiting for an invitation. During
the day she loves her walks to the river, drives to the dog-park, or vegging out in the garden.

The pictures of Goldie illustrate her personality so well. In the first one she is standing on the WHERE ARE
back of the sofa, barking to let me know that Len has driven up the drive (home from work). THEY NOW?
Len says she must have been a cat in a past life! In the other I am at my desk on the
computer. If she thinks it's time for a cuppa (and therefore biscuit for her), she will sit beside We catch up with
me, looking at my face and wagging her tail. I pretend to ignore her so she wags her tail faster Goldie’s baby
and starts to make a funny growling noise. Then I hop up and say "Okay, time for a cuppa" Knox renamed
and she rushes into the kitchen to wait for her treat. Do they illustrate how much we love our Chuck...
Goldie! She has the sweetest nature and we laugh at her antics such as wriggling across the
carpet on her back. Goldie has fitted into our family so well and we just can’t imagine not
having her around.

Kind Regards, Len and Christine Riding

Chuck (aka Knox) recently celebrated his 1st birthday with a
peanut butter cupcake & dinosaur sized bone and he's one
happy doggy. Can't believe he’s one already but he’s done
so much in his short life like: eating his way through several
dog beds, uncountable thongs, 1 pair Uggs, 2 pairs footy
boots, 1 pair of slippers, two cushions, one sail shade and
untold garden plants, flies, spiders, beetles and ants! But we
love him to bits. Thank you Monica & team for all you do and
for giving us the opportunity to give this handsome devil a
forever home. Nicola Martin

with my new mummy Cathy. I was a very loved member bigger house near a park where I went many times to
of the family and I enjoyed being outdoors but my run and play.
favourite place was indoors with everyone.
Age caught up with me and I was getting
very tired so just before my 19th birthday I
went to sleep forever whilst being held in
Mummy’s loving arms.

My family was sad for a long time but I
always knew that in time they would be
able to love another dog. Cathy heard of
Monika’s Doggie Rescue from her sister
Norma, who is a volunteer at the shelter,
and knew it was the right time to bring
another dog home.

How blessed they were to have found two
lovely dogs at DoggieRescue, one who
was 10 years old and one who was 8
years old. That was last September and
Mona and Lisa, two precious, loving dogs
have settled well in their new home.

I had a long, wonderful life and I know that is what Mona and Lisa ( above with Mummy ) can look forward to. But I
will always be remembered, especially on Mother’s Day, and I know that Mum’s love is big enough to share around.

Before humans die, they write their last will and testament, giving their home and all they have to those
they leave behind. If, with my paws, I could do the same, this is what I’d ask…

To a poor and lonely stray, I’d give my happy home; my bowl and cosy “ Sweet Priscilla will always have a
bed, soft pillow and all my toys; the lap, which I loved so much; the piece of our hearts.” Cathy Robertson
hand that stroked my fur; and the sweet voice that spoke my name.

I’d will to the sad, scared, shelter dog the place I had in my
human’s loving heart, of which there seemed no bounds.
So, when I die, please do not say, “I will never have a pet again,

for the loss and the pain is more than I can stand.”

Instead, go find an unloved dog, one whose life has
held no joy or hope, and give my place to him.

This is the only thing I can give…The love I left behind.
