• Feline FEATURE DOUBLE THE BENEFITS

Loving Pairs – why TW0 kitties
are better than ONE!

There are many well-known joys and health benefits for having a fur-child in your family…
and if you have two then the benefits are doubled!

Some of the benefits that you can generally
expect include:

• You get twice the amount of purrs and cuddles

which have been proven to have therapeutic
benefits for humans, try reading:
http://www.dailyinfographic.com/the-healing-
power-of-cat-purrs-infographic

http://www.care2.com/causes/14-ways-your-cat-
improves-your-health.html

• A bonded pair are very comfortable in each

other’s company and you do not need to provide
them with as much attention as a single kitty –
very helpful when they are active kittens as play-
time can be extensive ;)

• They are less likely to get anxious or stressed if

there are scary incidents such as thunderstorms
or new people arrive, they tend to watch how the
other kitty reacts to set a tone of behaviour

• They are less likely to get lonely or up to

destructive behaviour when you are not there, ie
the other “partner” provides a level of confidence
and stability

• You get to save two lives rather than just one!

Old fridge magnet saying:

Cats are like potato chips,
you just can’t stop at one

JUNE 2018 DOGGIERESCUE.COM CATS E- MAGAZINE 7
• For more details on the cats featured email [email protected]

Some bonded pairs are best friends forever (BFF), they are literally Written by
inseparable and may get anxious when they do not know where their Deb Rouse
partner is. However, not all pairs of kitties are best friends though they will still
provide the above benefits without cuddling together all day long.

It is generally easier gaining two cats as a “bonded pair” from a rescue shelter
as you will be able to see for yourself the behaviour as described by the
rescuers before adopting.

• With older kitties their personalities will be

well formed and should only subtly further
develop over time with you and your family.

• With kittens from the same litter, they will

generally be bonded, however their
personalities will develop greatly over the
first year, and while they may be very close
as little kittens, it is possible they will
become separate characters and will
develop different interests, and then spend
more time apart when they are older.

https://www.facebook.com/helpandsavemore/ It is lovely to see two kitties curled up together,
videos/581287418882881/ but don’t worry if your two are not that close…
remember they are also very much emotionally tied
to yourself and your family and friends. You will all

provide the loving and comforting home together.

Featured pair of kitties are:“ LOGAN & LEVI ”

LEVI 20mths Black & White Female
Levi has many loves...She loves lying in the sun,
she loves cardboard boxes, she loves her dinner, but
most of all she LOVES, LOVES, LOVES...Logan

LOGAN 20mths Ginger & White Male
Logan has many loves… he loves to play and run, he
loves his toys (especially toys on a stick!!) but most of
all he LOVES, LOVES, LOVES...Levi.

These two beautiful bonded kitties share a secret. Both
are FIV positive. They are NOT sick but just need good
food and proper care to live long, healthy lives.

14 JUNE 2018 DOGGIERESCUE.COM CATS E-MAGAZINE

Each month we include in the DoggieRescue E-Magazine the pound pages as well as our own kitties who are lucky
enough to be safe. The pound cats are not so lucky. In fact many of the ones that appear on these pages are on
the countdown to their last days in the pound. This is NOT the fault of the pound. It is space that is the problem.
When there are too many in the pound there is simply no room for more, hence the euthanasia list which is sent to
supporters/volunteers/rescuers when the pound is at capacity. This is the story of the volunteers who run a facebook
page https://www.facebook.com/Campbelltownpoundcats/. How do they cope every week trying to save these
desperate cats lives, with the pressure involved in the never ending flow of dumped cats & kittens into the pound?

Hello Readers, people have

Sometimes I look at the cats faces and am so over- initially. Olaf
