A story written with love from an

Celene came to Doggie Rescue
around a year ago, a mature

matted, in an extremely poor
condition and very frightened…

I had not experienced a blind dog
before and to be quite honest I did not
quite know how to handle her. She
required picking up at feeding time,
so I followed my usual routine of
allowing her to smell and touch my
hand, said a few soothing words and
then lifted her up. In my hands her
little body struggled frantically so I
would have to hold on to her collar to
secure her until I could place her
carefully on the ground. She would
then turn around in stress related
circles until she calmed. I felt totally
inadequate and so very sad for this
little girl abandoned totally blind into a
world of strange noises, smells and
human voices.

Celene and I have worked on our relationship over She still wants to be part of life, and to enjoy a home

FLASHBACK TO 2009…

On the 2nd March 2009 three dogs came from the
pound. They were a little family and we called them
Mama Fuzz, Papa Fuzz and their baby was called
Fuzzpot. Mama & Papa Fuzz were adopted together by
the Williamson family on 5th September, 2009 and then
in early 2010 Fuzzpot was adopted by Margaret
Ingelby.

As a part of our Valentine's Day issue we have caught
up with this little family and their story appears below.

The Story of Penny & Clyde Williamson

(aka Lady Penelope formerly Mama & Papa Fuzz).
By Miriam Williamson

Hello Readers,

We adopted Penny & Clyde as a bonded
couple over five years ago. Following a long drive
from DoggieRescue to our Blue Mountains home,
Penny swaggered in and claimed the best chair
in the house. For Clyde the settling in process
took longer. Along with a fear of any loud noises
and boys he seemed to be holding a torch for
someone in his past. Penny led, Clyde followed
with his nervous disposition. We used to joke that
she was the brains and he was the brawn.

The strength of their bond was revealed when
Clyde became critically ill with pancreatitis and
diabetes. On his return home from the vet Penny
licked him all over and wouldn’t leave his side for
days. Sadly it was to be Penny who passed away
12 months later from pancreatitis. Stoic to the
end she did not let on she was sick until it was
too late regardless of the vet’s efforts to save
her. We miss her still.

Clyde grieved for a day or two but has over the “Clyde’s best friend is Pixie Bigelow, however their relationship
last eighteen months blossomed in his own right. is maintained mostly through social media.” Miriam
Now approaching fifteen he is very much the
homebody. His days comprise of two injections of
insulin, a check of the boundary of our property,
walking around the block, playing with one of his
many fluffy toys, and napping in his deck chair
( see picture on page 21 ) on the front veranda.

POSTCARD Fuzzy Ingelby

Hello Readers,

I would love to update you on
Fuzzpot (we call her Fuzzy ).
She has been with us now
for 5 years and she is our
beautiful little companion.

She showers us with
affection, loves travelling in
the car and is very protective
of our property. Not too keen
on big dogs, she shoos them
off, but loves socializing with
all the small dogs on our
daily walk.

Fuzzy is really well and very
happy here with us. I am
happy to hear that Papa is
still going strong and look
forward to seeing a photo of
him. Thank you, regards
Margaret

VALENTINE’S POSTCARD FROM TED

This month is the 11th anniversary of Ted coming into our
lives. We adopted Ted from Monika's DoggieRescue way
back in 2004 and he is now approximately 13yrs old. He was
originally called Rudolph and we saw his story in the Sunday
Telegraph. When we first adopted Ted he was very wary of
strangers, especially men, but now when we go walking he
wants to say hello to everyone he meets, especially
children! I wanted to let you know he is still going strong and
has changed so many lives. Thank you Monika and all your
helpers for the wonderful work you do. Rebecca Doughty

Dear Monika & Doggie Rescue Team,

We are so happy to have welcomed Jasper to our family
home at Wheeler Heights. He has enjoyed his first

tree. We have some great walking tracks near our house
and he enjoys being taken out for his two walks each
day. His favourite walk is up to Long Reef headland and he
loves to stand at the top just staring out to sea with the wind
blowing in his face. He is such a happy, affectionate, playful
dog and he is the perfect dog for our family!

HOWIE - OUR Sweet VALENTINE!

Howie became part of our world in August 2014, after being very much loved by Monika and the Doggie
Rescue team for over 2 years. Howie, shares his home with Cancun (rescue cat) and often visits his
‘Aunties’ (also rescue doggies)

HOWIE has many loves….

• He LOVES to sit beside me in the
studio at work, and guard me,
displaying his protection by little
growls and stern looks ( I have to fight
back giggles every time!) and everyone
at work absolutely adores him.

• He LOVES his Grandmother, ( with
Granddad, he is making progress and
no longer hides from him, he even
accepts treats from him now! a huge
milestone considering Howie is very
afraid of men.)

• He LOVES playing with his doggie
Aunties, spending hours playing in
the back yard and swimming
(supervised ) in our pool—see picture.

• He LOVES the lounge, and loves
body contact and cuddles.

• He LOVES sharing the bed ( and
sometimes finds himself in the very
middle!! )

• He LOVES to stop and sniff every
tree on our walks.

Howie is certainly my Valentine! We love him so very much as
I know the Doggie Rescue team does also, thank you from the
bottom of our heart for nurturing such a gorgeous little soul,
and all the others that you continue to rescue and protect.

DANA REMEMBERED

By her friend Geari Rose

Hello Readers,

Loyal and dedicated Doggie Rescue supporter
for 10 years Dana Eisorois aged 53 has passed
away suddenly after a major operation on
Christmas Eve. All at Doggie Rescue who
knew her are saddened with her passing.

I met Dana Eisorois at Doggie Rescue in 2005 “Her world was dark but she brightened so many lives.”
when Monika opened the shop at Drummoyne
where she handled the phone calls for Doggie

She used to tell me I wasn't telling people the
right thing and this is how it should be done.
Initially I was surprised by this as I had years
of phone customer service experience, but we
found a common goal, finding a home for those
poor dumped dogs.

The most amazing thing about Dana was that she never Wilshire and Murray Olds many times when she couldn't
