Hello Readers,

As someone who loves DoggieRescue and crocheting,
I thought I could combine the two to raise funds and
spread the word about DoggieRescue’s lifesaving work.
I ran an online auction with crocheted toys, each of
whom shared their name with a DoggieRescue dog who
needed a home.

The response was very positive with $880.00 raised for
DoggieRescue. While the auction has closed you can
view the site here:

The auction was also in memory of my very own, and

“JUSTIN”

Dear Readers,

I first met Justin some years ago when he was rescued
by Monika. I was warned that he was food aggressive
which meant that he was very protective of his meals so
I fed him separately. He shunned contact from me and
other volunteers, he hid away in his bed and stood alone
and away from other dogs. He was a sorry and self
isolated little dog. All that could be done for him was to
provide regular meals, a warm bed, reinforce love and
security by giving attention to other dogs around him
and just say "hello Justin" each week.

It is clear that Justin had not experienced a good life
before coming to Doggie Rescue. I would say he was
poorly treated and no doubt neglected with little to no
loving human contact. But Justin is a success story to
what a safe and happy environment can achieve.
Eventually this little dog's personality has turned around.
Justin is still quiet but loves one on one attention, wags
his tail and shows delight to see those who care for him.

Hi Everyone,

Rex, Will, Jack and Spencer,
all 10 years old came to DR
for walking. The needed to
do a "Compassion in Action"
project for school and they
decided on a fundraiser for
DR. They had 2 garage sales
and had goods donated from
friends and family. They also
had a sausage sizzle and
cakes and cookies for sale.
They handed out mags and
brochures to customers and
to sell the remaining cakes,
they did door knocking in
their local streets. How good
is that! They raised a total of
$875.45! Totally amazing:)

Hi Everyone,

My dog Nero, adopted from Monika's in January 2014, has
been competing in agility competitions since February this
year. At the biggest comp of the year in NSW my little
superstar came away with 2nd in excellent level jumping, 3rd
in novice level snooker and 2nd in novice level strategic pairs.
I'm so proud of him. He just loves being out on course and the
time we spend together.

Here’s a photo of him with his ribbons and qualifying cards.
He’s a STAR:) Katie Abbott

Look what
I won!

FUNDRAISERS: Tali and Eitan Hamilton
( seen with Shortcake above ) raised $200 by
selling chocolates to friends and family. They
visited the shelter today with their mum Debbie
and walked some dogs. They both love dogs
and were raising money in the name of their
great Auntie Mac who was a big dog lover and
passed away last year. Tali and Eitan hope
that all our doggies can find loving homes and
are happy to have helped us out.

puppies abandoned in a pound and I first met him in Nov
By Birgit van Lisk 2013 shortly after the 3 musketeer puppies ( as they were
nicknamed ) were released from the vets and came into
DR’s shelter. I spent heaps of time with him at Doggie-
Wood before I was able to give him a good and
appropriate home with a big backyard and lots of dogs
in the neighbourhood. I believe that it was meant be that
Athos somehow had waited for me to take him home…

“ When completely happy, Athos just lays
down next to me with a long purr like a bear –
just amazing and irresistible!” Birgit

I always loved his nature: He can be very cuddly, calm and
relaxed, and as soon as I snap my fingers, he is full of
energy, streaks for the ball, and can’t get enough.
We both enjoy our long daily walks, and pretty much every
day there is some time for Athos to play off-leash with his
doggie friends; he is gentle with the little dogs or my rabbit
( see photo at left ), but also likes a good wrestle with the
bigger ones. Athos has brightened up my life, and I simply
cannot imagine a day without him anymore as he
constantly puts a smile on my face! Birgit

WHERE IS
ORI NOW?

Catching up with Ori 5 years after his
adoption by Cimone and her family...

Hello Readers,

Ori has just had his 6th birthday (on September
26th) and when he had his annual booster shots
our Vet couldn't believe he was turning 6 years of
age based on his immaculate teeth, beautiful coat
and overall general health! He loves his bones!
Lamb in particular, so he alternates his evening
meal between loin chops, forequarter chops and
shanks! A meal without bones is a meal he won't eat!!!

“ I only have one child, a daughter, but
I also have a canine son!” Cimone

Ori also loves his walks which he has a minimum of one
each day! He's so in tune with us that you don't even have
to speak! He can sense if you are about to choose walking
gear or work clothes! He loves the car so we take him out
once a week into Albury to walk along the Murray River
which is his absolute favourite! Ori has more toys than
some children ( see his toy box at right ) and he loves
them all! Unfortunately he hates the rubber ones and only
likes the plush variety that he can ultimately destroy,
remove the squeaker and proceed to rip the stuffing out of!

I only have one child, a daughter, but I also have a canine
son! We all love him more than words can ever explain
and he returns this love ten fold! ! He's our baby! He is the
most amazing dog with the biggest heart and I'm so glad
he's just 6 and we will have many, many more years
together! It has truly been the best 5 years, adopting Ori
has been the most amazing reward! Cimone

A big thank you to Monika’s DoggieRescue for giving Ori a second chance at a happy life!
