As reported in the Manly Daily 2nd Aug. 2017

Monika remembers the first dogs she
saved, more than 16 years ago.

“I was at my vets on the Central Coast and there was a
family who wanted to have two dogs put down because
the owner had died, and the family didn’t want anything to
do with them. I said ‘I’ll give it a go and try and rehouse
them’, that’s how it all started,” Monika said.

Now Monika has saved an incredible 12,000 dogs,
mostly from death row pounds in NSW.

– but Monika had a volunteer ferry her to a vet for Collaroy Plateau ( pictured at left ) who said she’s a
“sweetheart”.

“Some dogs have stood out over the years – including
the one suffering from a degenerative disease who
was flown all the way to Victoria to a caring family.
Social media has helped share our appeal for homes.”
Monika said. There are currently 140 dogs at the DR

Maisy is a burly but gentle French Bulldog x. She is
calm yet fit, shy but loves to be held, which is pretty
clear to see in this photo! Maisy takes a short while
to warm up as new things need getting used to for
her, but a bit of care and a bit of confidence is all she
needed to get going with us. I dare say there is a bit
of melancholy in the photos of Maisy. I get the
impression there is a bit weighing on her mind at this
moment in her life, but it didn't weigh her spirit down.
She is a good, rugged and gentle girl who would go
