Hello Readers,
This month even our cats have kisses all over them,

Antonette discusses steps in adopting a shy cat and
turning them into an affectionate family member and how
rewarding this process is. If you are a bit shy yourself
perhaps you feel a greater affinity to a shy cat? They all
want love and a family to belong to.
Our bunny world has exploded with so much
cuteness, with some 15 baby bunnies looking for
homes as well their parents! In these hot summer days
volunteer Martha also talks about the need to keep rabbits

Adopting a
Shy Cat
When applicants looking to adopt a cat from
Monika’s see the description “shy cat” or “needs Cute Tweedy

necessarily true.
What is a shy cat?
A shy cat is one that may by nature be more cautious than
other cats, or may have suffered a trauma at the hands of a
human, or may have had little or no contact with humans, or
may have once been domesticated and then been a stray on
the street for a long time. A shy cat is not necessarily
aggressive -– they are usually afraid of people and will avoid
them. However, shy cats will warn you that they don’t want to
be touched when they first meet you e.g. hiss, arch their
backs, tuck their tail between their legs, move away etc
Expectations when adopting a shy cat
When you take shy cats home, they will often initially regress
and become temporarily shyer. They prefer small areas and

By Martha Pavlakis DR Volunteer
Hello Rabbit Lovers,
It’s been a busy month in the bunny maternity wing of DoggieRescue! We have
welcomed another litter into the wing, with mama Honey and her kits Sugar,
Toffee, Cinnamon and Cookie. Honey is a beautiful gentle bunny who is happy
to have human cuddles and will be up for adoption soon.
The summer heat is
increasing and rabbits
are sensitive to heat so
the bunnies are loving
cooling down next to iced
water bottles. Rabbits
also love to lay on frozen
tiles but frozen ice packs
are not suitable as they
can chew through the
fabric/material and if the
liquid is digested it can
cause medical issues.
Remember if YOU are
hot imagine how hot your
bun is with all that fur.
