• • • update Merry Christmas from “ Pinocchio & Gin ” By Kirsten Darling

Dear Readers,

Pinocchio and Jiminy ( who we
now call Gin ) have settled in
tremendously – they are living in
a family of 2 adults, 2 teenagers
and 2 poodles one Coco and the
other Gemma.

Pinocchio was super confident
with the dogs from the start. Gin
took a little longer, but they are
all now so content with each
other, to the point they will all
share a very large dog bed.

The cats love greeting the dogs
in the morning and insist on
getting fed before the dogs. They
then like coming upstairs and
having a cuddle before we get
ready for the day. We cannot
believe what a fabulous addition
they are to the family and are so
happy we adopted them.

The “Boys” will be with us for
the rest of their lives and they
have such a special place in
all our hearts. We can’t wait to

adopting them was so much better than getting a kitten! ”

MEET “ SESAME ”

One of the most affectionate kitties you
will ever meet. He is a non stop purrer
who loves affectionate and attention. He
deserves to be cuddled and adored!

“ On these two pages I have highlighted a few hazards for cats at
Christmas time. By following these simple tips you and your pets
can enjoy a happy and safe Christmas holiday. ” Dee

CHRISTMAS PLANTS
I’m feeling
Though plants bring colour and life very hot...
into your home, caution should be
used when placing them.
• Holly: The berries and leaves
can cause discomfort / vomiting.
They can also be fatal.
• Poinsetta: sap will blister your
cat’s mouth and can also cause
stomach upset.
• Mistletoe: Can, in mild cases,
cause stomach upset and in
severe cases, heart collapse.

CAT PROOF YOUR CHRISTMAS COSTUMES

CHRISTMAS TREE • Pets can look cute dressed as ‘Santa Claus’ or ‘Santa's

• Secure Christmas ornaments Reindeer’ but make sure they are not feeling stressed &
on your tree tightly so they are miserable or in too tight, hot & uncomfortable costumes.
not easily knocked off.
• Invest in a good quality, DECORATIONS/WRAPPING
heavy base or place
weights at the bottom of • Prior to Christmas, when you are decorating your
your tree to stop it home and wrapping gifts, be sure to use caution. If

playful paws. • Potpourri oil is toxic to cats. However, they will lap it
up in generous amounts if it is left within reach.
Keep your curious kitty
• Keep ribbon, string & yarn away from your cat. If
safe by following these
simple steps! swallowed, these items will twist around your cat’s
intestines.Never put a ribbon around your cat’s neck.

PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE… Just because we humans like to indulge in the
feast does not mean it is good for our cats.
Rich, fatty foods can seriously upset your cat's
stomach and even be toxic. It is especially
important to keep your cat away from the
following dangerous foods: Onions, which can
cause anaemia (high levels of garlic can,
too), grapes and raisins, chocolate, bones
(especially cooked bones and ANY poultry
bones), alcoholic beverages and any foods
high in fat, sodium and/or sugar.

BUYING A
LIVE PET

• It is easy to succumb to the
adorable puppies, kittens and
bunnies who appear in pet
store windows at this time of
year. Pressure from a child is
a temptation for parents but
spur of the moment
purchases often end in
abandonment for those pets
who are dumped in pounds
when the novelty wears off.

Adopting a baby animal is a
LONG TERM COMMITMENT
not to be taken impulsively. A
better option for Christmas gift Sadly, the novelty wore off….
for a child? A cute, cuddly toy
or a book about caring for pets.

CHRISTMAS
CANDLES

• Place candles on high shelves,
away from curious noses and
playful paws. Your pet can be
seriously injured if a candle ignites
his tail or his fur. Emergency
treatment for cats with burns is
costly and if the burns are severe, Telephone: 9890 7220
they can be fatal to your pet.

The photo doesn't do this boy justice. Armadillo has a severe case of the sads and he curls
up like an armadillo when you pick him up. He seeks other cats company for comfort and
he's a very shy boy. He puts his ears back often because he's still getting used to people but
he means well and he's a really beautiful boy. He doesn't have a nasty bone in his body.
Armadillo is looking for a special home where his new owners will be patient with him and
give him time to settle in. He is a very special, sweet boy….

“ Armadillo was in foster care with me! He’s a big beautiful sweetheart and he just
craves love and a lounge or bed to chill on and he LOVES other cats. He got on
beautifully with my social playful one year old boy. Loves a donut bed and LOVES his
food and enjoys singing to his friends” Gabrielle
