• UPDATE “ MALAKI ”
BY CHRISTY NICHOLLS

OUR BOY MALAKI

We adopted Malaki on 21st December
2017 and he has settled in very well.
Initially he was very shy and timid and
hardly made a noise. It took him about
6 weeks before he showed his true
personality and we heard his “voice”.
He only barks when he wants attention
and is rolling around on the floor wait-
ing for his tummy rubs! He is such a
sweet doggie! He’s great with our two
boys, aged 7 and 12.

Malaki is a “velcro dog”. He’s happiest
when he’s with his family and often
lies across our feet to make certain
we won’t go anywhere without him!

We know he’s a Wolfhound cross,
and everyone is totally stumped with
what breed he is mixed with, but he
shows lots of Wolfhound traits, ie:
he’s very goofy. He’s gained a little bit
of weight (a kilo or so) in the 8 months
we’ve had him, and he is really fit and “ With me, his Mummy. He loves giving kisses…”
healthy. He’s about 29 kilos now.
My husband mostly
walks him, and they go
twice a day. Malaki
would be happy
with one walk, but
when it was warmer
weather, it’s nice to go
twice and my husband
loves walking him.

He’s great with our
kids and kids in
general (he was
marked ‘Child Friendly’
on Monika’s website).

In fact Malaki is
very gentle with
“Malaki is a lovely, big boy. He adds so “I’ve always wanted a dog. Malaki everybody, he’s a

“ The only real difference
between having a large dog and
a small one is probably just the
amount of food they require. ”
Christy

Malaki is very social with other dogs at the
park. He’s made lots of doggie friends and
just adores balls. He loves to chase balls
and run around with other dogs, his nature
is so sweet, he’s made lots of human
friends at the local park as well!

We think he’s about 3, so I declared March
4th his birthday and we had a small party.
Here is his dog-friendly cake .

Whether it’s playing dress ups with the
boys in the school holidays, taking Dad
for walks or relaxing on the rug Malaki
is very much a part of our family.
